  • What do you consider expensive… Sonoff S26 is regularly >$20, Kmart ones are >$20 etc…

If you can find an Aldi with clearance stock they're running theirs out for ~$10 if the extra ~$4.50 for a Kmart one is a killer for you…

do you know if Aldi Medion runs in Tuya?

          • @tempura: the ones I've had all have.

          • @tempura: Yes, it uses the tuya network although it appears to be a private version. All you need to do is set up the Medion plug with the Tuya Smart app instead of the Home Life app. You need to use the more generic tuya app if you want to integrate with IFTTT or your plug won't be visible in the drop downs. No hardware modifications necessary, setup and usage works perfectly in the tuya app.

Find out a chipset which the expensive card is made on and order online from some cheap site like Aliexpress any popular card based on that chipset. May save half price and more on that.

The 4 Pack of Kogan Smart Plugs are $65 ($16.25 each), flashed all mine with ESPHome 2 weeks ago and they have the bonus of power monitoring, but no USB

  • Brilliant smart plugs are constantly on sale for $10 to $11. I use ESPHome to configure them after flashing them with Tuya-Convert.

  • Sorted your dilemma yet?

    • yes, i just need to find that Tuya smart plug .. but yes, i did find a solution
