        • What cables does it use?

          • @djsa: Assuming your plasma has HDMI, a cheap DisplayPort-HDMI adapter will do the trick.

  • How does the licensing work if I were to format the hdd or replace with new hdd?

    • +2

Windows 10 stores PC's "fingerprint" & digital entitlement on Microsoft activation server and optionally ties it to your Microsoft Account. Reactivation is by checking the fingerprint with the server.

      • Cool. so does fingerprints change with replacement hdd?

        • +1

Was about to edit this in when your replied. The fingerprint does not vary with storage devices. You can reinstall Windows 10, format and upgrade your storage freely.

    • I believe the license is linked directly to the like of hp and dell bios. There is a short code in the bios just for that. Windows will check that string to activate the license.

  • How would this thing run basic tasks like word processing, PDFs, Excels etc? I usually have a mix of dozen of them open at once for work purposes.

Need something for days when i work from home so i don't need to lug the laptop around. All files stores on the cloud.

    • +4

Way more than enough for those activities.

    • +1

These are more than adequate for word PDF Excel and basic web browsing with 8GB ram. If you chuck in a SSD then it flies very well

      • No need. It comes with a SSD.

    • This is an i5-4590t - which is not hugely different from the i5-4950 which was a very common gaming CPU in about 2014-15. It will perform as well as a mid level office desktop computer from a few years ago. This doesn't and can't have a dedicated video card, but for everything CPU related it will perform quite well.

  • Showing as OOS but I've added another 50 units, so it should update shortly.

    • It shows as "Currently Unavailable" but shows another seller "Australian Conputer traders" selling for $199
      Is that your ad OP?

      • +1

It takes a while for inventory to sync with Amazon. We also have to wait for the pending orders to transfer over too confirmed.

  • Just bought one… thank you!

  • What's the wifi in this?

  • just tried through both links, OOS again?

  • Does anyone know if these have HDMI CEC?

  • Works greats as home assistant box.

  • Can you run dual monitors on this out of the box?

  • Phew, it is OOS, I already have too many PCs at home.

  • Oh man!

I’ve been looking for something for my parents. Just a simple PC with win10 preloaded so they can browse, play with a couple of programs, check and write emails.

    This WOULD have been perfect.

Any other options that people know of at this price point?

  • +3

    I've added 20 more units.

    • Hi Calmago, any chance of adding any more? I had a PC in my cart tonight but just missed out as there was only 1 stock left.

      Cheers.

      • It's showing as in stock again for me now.

  • Can this be upgraded with a low-profile graphics card?

    • No

    • These is a slightly less tiny version, the M93p SSF that goes for around the same price. That will probably fit a dedicated card.

  • can it play back 4k?

  • nice, these are great for Home Assistant / HASS.IO

    • This is what I ordered mine for, just out of interest how are you running it?

I'm thinking Ubuntu / Docker / Hass.io, it'd be nice if I could do straight hass.io but I can't find any info on installing it on a PC as the OS.

    • I am also keen to run hassio on something like this but wonder if I could achieve this with a budget of $100?

      • you can with a Raspberry Pi or hand-me-down machine
if you want to do z-wave and/or zigbee you have additional costs

        • Thanks mate.

  • I've never heard of these small form factor desktop boxes before, can you get ones with a graphics card?

  • Anyone know if these have more than one SATA port?

  • Is this any good for streaming tv shows and connecting to a tv? What cable do I use as it doesn't have a HDMI output?

    • +3

displayport to hdmi cable. there are tons on ebay.

  • If I'm looking for one of these small PC boxes to get the specs I'm after, is there another good brand/model to consider besides these Lenovo ThinkCenters?

    • dell optiplex 9020 with 4th gen i5 is also very popular on ozb.

  • I am reinstalling windows 10 via usb (windows 10 media creation) but it asked for drivers to continue. What driver do I need for this? Is it the sata drive, ethernet, or chipset?
