1760

A part of the Royal Doulton 20 products for $20 celebrating the year of the Rat.

Not sure where this set is made I have 2 sets of tumblers from Royal Doulton bought recently that were made in Slovenia.

Seems pretty cheap for 6, it looks like last time this deal was posted they were $49.95.

Postage is $14.95 to WA and TAS

Bought first, now to check the reviews lol.

Weird, when I got to pay by Paypal, it's only charging me a total of $18.18…

EDIT: well it still charged me the correct amount…

    • +3

      Price before GST?

  • How do these compare in quality to these?

  • $14.95 shipping to WA :(

  • Thanks Op. Ordered 2.

  • Thanks. ordered 2

  • +7

They look cheap (in a bad way)

    • +1

Yeah the idea anyone would pay $200 for them at any time is hilarious.

  • +11

Tumbler prices tumble! Plates smashed! RD, you've done it again!!

    • +2

I tried this but doesn't look like they stack - coupon wouldn't give me a further discount.

    • Doesn't seem to apply to discounted items?

  • Bought one of those and one of the wine glasses for $20. Will use as emergency presents (Guy and girl)

  • 275ml seems like a small glass. but decent deal anyway, bought 2 of them

    • +7

A cup as a measurement is approximately 250mL.

      • +4

These aren't for cooking measurements, they're for drinking liquids.

        • +2

Standard spirit glass is 7oz or 210ml.

The size of these is fine for drinking liquids in moderate amounts…

        • +1

Thanks captain obvious, I was merely pointing out that these aren’t small.

  • I took a chance on this one. I have a set of 4 (also RD) that I really like and based on the picture I think they're the same glasses. I think either way these will make a nice gift…

  • Thanks, grabbed a set.

  • These ones break very easily

    • +3

"If you throw them on the ground" easily, or "during gentle washing" easily?

      • +14

        Yes

A programmer is going to the grocery store and his wife tells him, "Buy a gallon of milk, and if there are eggs, buy a dozen."

So the programmer goes, buys everything, and drives back to his house.

Upon arrival, his wife angrily asks him, "Why did you get 13 gallons of milk?"

The programmer says, "There were eggs!"

  • Bought a few. Shipping is flat rate.
    Great gifts

  • looks like website is now havving issues

  • Thanx Op, got one

  • anyone know if the DFO stores keep these in stock, would rather save one postage if possible.

    • +1

Can confirm they have all the 20 for $20 in stock at DFO Perth. There were 8 of these tumbler sets left after I got 2 :)

  • for dishwasher addicts, the site says 'handwash only' not sure why

  • +5

Must resist … I don't need them at all but still want to buy

  • Tks OP, grabbed one.

  • Be careful these break in the dishwasher but great price for these

Leaded glass ("crystal") is damaged in dishwashers due to the alkaline powder.

There are not real crystal, (WTF is "crystaline"?? And why won't they tell us?) but must have the same problem.

    • +1

Nice pickup thought I was the only one that saw non crystal glasses .

The whole site is like 60-75% off .

Doing a Harris Scarfe with BS RRP .

    • In this day and age, can you actually get proper leaded glass/crystal? Wouldn't everyone be against using lead?

      • Yes everything is dairy-free, gmo-free, gluten-free and lead-free.

PbO is fine in glasses, but they might not sell decanters with lead, as people may use them for storage.
You can still get mercury fillings if you try hard enough.
(Quite safe in your teeth, but there is concern for dentists being repeatedly expose while implanting them.)

  • +1

Ordered, no idea if we need them, they remind me of the stuff my grandparents had, damn getting old. Damn you OB.

  • They're just glass…

    • +4

All crystal is glass but not all glass is crystal ;)

      • But is all crystalline crystal?

        • I'll ask my crystal ball.

  • +10

    Don't impulse buy!

Just because it says "Royal Doulton" doesn't mean it's crystal and quality. Bullcrap these are worth $200.
    Crystaline does not mean CRYSTAL.

These are nasty as, dont expect quality.

    • phew, bullet dodged, thanks !

      • +13

        https://www.tableking.com.au/what-is-crystalline/
not true according to this link

        • +7

Good link, thanks. I didn't realise real crystal (with lead) glassware is actually bad for you!

Apparently crystal is heavier and has better clarity (both signs of good glassware), but there's real health concerns with its use which I wasn't aware of.

Thanks for taking the time to post the link. I've since read up more on it online and you're spot on.
          Cheers.

  • $200 and they break from getting washed?

    • +1

      No, obviously <sigh>
Real crystal discolours from normal dishwasher powder.

  • +2

    Normally $199

    lolwut. :-)

FYI an alternative from Ikea: https://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/80216303/

I have had a set of these few years now and yet to break one, the look pretty cool to me especially for $2 each.
