    Bundaberg Family Bundle for $350

There won't be much left after my kids get hold of this.

  • Is the Solera worth the high price?

It makes a lot more sense in this bundle than on its own ($229 from memory, currently $179 on sale). I tasted it at the distillery on a tour last month, quite nice and better than the small batch, but not better enough to justify the premium over the small batch imo. As a collectors item (which of course is much less fun), the bottle is a bit more special and I seem to recall it coming in a nice wooden box, but please don't take my word for it and check first if that makes the difference for you.

      • Cheers for the insight!

No worries. It was certainly nice and very complex for a rum, but personally i'd much prefer the small batch spiced or small batch for a more frequent/relaxed drink. I fear the complexity of the Solera would be lost if mixed with anything, and unless you're an absolute connoseur more often than not you're going to mix your rum rather than have it straight or over ice.

          • @Wilburre: Bought this deal last night and conducted a little taste test - the Solera is probably the first rum I've tasted that I could genuinely sit and sip on the rocks, it really was complex. The small batch still tasted great, but they were much better with a little coke/ginger ale. Definitely a cut above any Bundy I've had in the past.

            • @ngengerous: Glad to hear it! I entirely agree, the small batch is great with dry ginger ale and some mint, or the classic coke and lime. Mixing with coke I have found the diet and no sugar coke makes it go all weird, the after taste isn't real crash hot. For me its either full sugar coke if health/calories arn't a concern, or pepsi max. Pepsi max is very polarising I find, people love it or hate it, but if you love it, it's my pick for a "cola" mixer. If you're feeling like putting in the effort, time etc, the spiced makes a damn good dirty mohito too.

              • @Wilburre: I'll need to invest in some mint and proper coke then! I usually use No Sugar, but maybe I'll have to branch out a little. And mohitos do sound tempting… maybe I'll have to buy the deal twice…

    Family Punchup Bundle.

    • Yeah, regular Bundy seems to make many people very aggressive when they are drunk. Bundy should be banned, it would be a community service to do so.

12% cashback with Cashrewards would make it $308. Outstanding deal, it's just a shame I'm moving to a dry community next week.
