i've got the wired version of these on recent sales.
    $60

would i pay $164 for a wireless version?
    no chance

    these are $60 headphones

    • How's the sound quality?

      • Not too bad. I have tried em on at JB today. Not comparable to my Sony 1000XM3s though

      • I think they sound better than xm3, but different. Build quality is flimsy but somehow lasts. Wireless controls are terrible. Comfort isn't great.

Edit: Not sure why the neg, I have had both sets.

      • sound is pretty good. doesn't match Bose but still very good for games and such.

on the flimsy side for this price

    • NFC pairing is handy
Good battery life for the price. I reckon its a good value for money especially at this price.

If you're going to make that comparison, take note that these are about 2 steps higher in the HD4 lineup, so the price makes sense.

The HD 4.30 is the wired one that you probably have
The HD 4.40 is the wireless version ~$80 refurbished
The HD 4.50/4.50R is the wireless version with active noise cancelling on top - I bought one for $150 refurbished a while ago

I think the 4.50 is well worth it IF YOUR EARS FIT WELL (some people may find the cups too small). It competes well with the Backbeat Pro 2 which can be had around a similar price point. The ANC isn't as great as the Bose QC35 or the Sony XM3s but it's significantly less expensive and it was reasonably effective when I used it for a long haul flight. Sound quality IMO is on par with the XM3s and QC35 though, with slightly different characteristics. Unlike the QC35, these also have aptX over bluetooth.

Personally my only issue with these is comfort. They clamp pretty securely to your head (perhaps a bit too tightly) and the ear cups, though soft, are a bit on the smaller side so your ear might fold a bit inside. As onlinepred also said, the controls are horrible as well. My 2 cents - if your head fits, this is a good deal. For everyone else, look away - you're better off spending more on getting something that fits well if you're going to be listening a lot.

      • yea. i think you are right

    • From what I can see, Sennheiser don't do a wired version of these. Only ones close to that price point I can see is the HD4.2s, and they aren't the same quality of the HD4.50BTNC.

  • Are these Surround Sound headphones? What is HD4.50R?

  • How do these compare to PXC550. As the PXC was recently on sale for $200 and I missed the deal I’m on the lookout for another pair. Wondering how similar these may be.

The PXC550 is slightly better in every single way.
