  • Hey OP, technically you need to post the bargain as HN @ $478 because price matches are not bargains according to the site rules. You are then fine to mention price matching for further discount in the description.

Thanks for that, I didn’t realise

    • Agree this is the cheaper price.

      • Mixed reviews regarding this website, in particular in regards to shipping and returns. With an item at this price I always like to pick it up directly and have the ability to return to the shop.

For my part, the $5 extra is worth it to deal directly with officeworks. Unless officeworks agrees to price match with them?? I am not sure they would

          Why wouldn't they?

@His_Holiness: They tend to be very picky with who they price match with. I had a funny one last month, asked to price match with Kogan and they wouldn’t, so I asked about dick smith and they said yes (obviously they had no idea both are the same company)

Thanks for the neg by the way, just trying to share some thoughts

Poor sales guy still thinks it's 2011 lol

            • @Platinumtelecom: Kogan / Dick Smith is a Hong Kong business, these guys are local so price match should be no issue

That is just one camera? Is the production cost higher than a smart phone?

    • +1

It probably is due to lower production volume. But not sure if this is relevant to the deal posted?

    • Isn’t this the one that you can put a 4G sim in and don’t need WiFi? That might be why…

      • +1

Yes it is the 4G and battery operated version

        • AKA (profanity) awesome for guarding campsites

          • @ndftz: I don't know where you go camping but I exclusively camp in areas without phone reception

            i.e. I don't go camping

@King Steuart: Placing one inside your tent at music festivals.

Or inside your car facing the seat when doing extended parking.

There are good uses for a sim enabled battery powered camera

Ridiculous price. Are they trying to copy Apple in testing how much people will pay?

    • +1

It is expensive, but for us, using it to keep an eye on a construction site is worth the investment. This was the best option for a site with no electricity and no internet

Until someone pinches the $500 camera.

        • Arlo used to have a theft replacement warranty

I wonder if this has a 'find my camera's feature.
Not everybody would be wise to it having a sim

  • Presume you still can't save locally, use always on recording, needs a cloud subscription and all the other usual arlo faults?

  • I would recommend Blink system over Arlo only due to the custom Arlo batteries which it requires.. Blink take standard 2xAA

    • How long do 2 standard AA's last? Arlo just has micro usb like your last mobile phone. Easy to charge. I haven't taken the batteries out since buying my pro 2's 2 years ago.

      • and you've never had to replace the arlo batteries?

        • No, why would they need replacing? I recharge them every 2-5 months depending on how often they're set off. Haven't got the advertised 6 months on a full charge but I think that's if they rarely get activated, eg. in a backyard with no pets

  • I don't have the Arlo go, but I do have the arlo pro 2 around my home. I can't recommend these as a security camera for 2 reasons - the saved image does not record the date and time, and there is no ability to create a camera name on the clip - Eg CAM1. You can do this in the portal, but the name is not saved to the saved motion clip.

  • How does Arlo compare to Wyze cam v2. I have got Wyze cam and it does record on microsd, captures and uploads to cloud a 12 second clip when a motion is detected.
    https://wyze.com/wyze-cam.html only USD20.

  • Is this not a better options $400.00 with solar panel

    https://reolink.com/au/product/reolink-go/

Combine this with the solar panel, for a few dollar more and you have a fantastic solution for not lot of money.
