  • First time going overseas OP?

Lol lot of good deals there, all exactly 10% off RRP!

    • Very true lol

      You mean exactly 9.090909…%?

  • +2

Can you buy this without an international boarding pass?
If you can't let's post all duty free deals. Like alcohol…

    • +3

      No.

  • Costco sells it for $429 with mario cart game.

  • Not a deal. This is ex-GST price provided that you’re traveling overseas.

    Not really a deal…

JB HI FI have it for $399 but you should be able to bring that down to $383 if you use discounted gift cards.

You'll also get an additional $39.90 off from the GST refund, brining the final price down to $343.1 (which is a good $20 cheaper than the duty free store).

    • +2

You'll only get $36.27 back from TRS. The $399 price JB sells at includes the GST so you'll have to divide the sale price by 1.1 to get the non-GST price and then take 10% of that to figure out the GST amount.
Final price is $362.73 without discounted gift cards or $346.73 with after TRS rebate.

      • Oops… my mistake.

I was dividing it by 10 when it should have been 11 to calculate the GST refund. Still cheaper than purchasing at the airport duty free.

Given everyone eligible for an Australian bank account can get discounted gift cards at 5% from Suncorp there's no reason not to.

Where to find a discounted gift cards? please.

      • +1

See post below about discounted gift cards.

Basically if you can open a bank account you can get an instant 5% off via Suncorp Bank.

    • Super late but also the GST refund scheme does not include gift cards.

      • Whilst you can't claim the GST from purchasing a gift card if the item was purchased using a gift card it's still eligible.

        You can't claim…
gift cards and vouchers; goods purchased with gift cards or vouchers are eligible for a refund subject to all other TRS requirements being met

But you should go overseas in the next 60 days and take the Switch with you to have 36$ back…not a great deal.
Anyway I’m new here, can someone please explain what’s this famous deal with JB-Hifi gift cards?

    • Entertainment book gets them at 5% off.

      This page explains it…

Easiest way is to sign up for a new Suncorp bank account. It's free and give access to their rewards portal which has JB HI FI gift cards at a 5% discount.

As you're in QLD you might already have a RACQ membership which also gives discounted cards but Queenslanders can setup a free RACQ bank account which has JB HI FI gift cards for 4% off.
