I bought one where it said it was a model that's easy to flash but was sent a different model… Just keep that in mind.

Do they work on Android though? Don't you need to flash other firmware on it?
@[Deactivated]: They work. You just need to download an emulator app like RetroArch and have the game ROMs on your device.
@Clear: Oh if there's an app you're 100% fine, only issue will be the potential bloatware that comes preinstalled lol
@[Deactivated]: TV boxes usually have minimal bloat compared to obscure Chinese phones. IIRC this Mecool model has root and Widevine L1. You'll need an older version of the Netflix app to get HD as they restricted playback to specific devices instead of just DRM ages ago.

Coreelec (so likely Libreelec, Openelec also) might not install to internal on these, you might be running it off SDCard or USB only

Just note a lot of these Chinese site listings advertise a supported model then send you an unsupported model they couldn't sell. Keep that in mind - be ready to dispute if it's not a supported model/as advertised.
I set my (older) tv box to use internal memory for Coreelec data but still boot from SD card. Best of both worlds I think.
No ethernet, no 5ghz wifi, this thing might actually be really crap. I have a Beelink MiniMX with s905, buffering is a real issue sometimes (when its not on ethernet).

Yup, same issues on MECOOL M8S PRO Plus. Nice little box when using ethernet, but wifi can be choppy.
Does this little guy have a built in chromecast?
No. If you want chromecast then consider Vodafone TV
