Great watch and the battery life is amazing! Make sure to update the software - you get some of the Watch Active 2 features (i.e. touch bezel).

I've been hunting for a deal on 2nd gen, but if the first gen gets the touch rotating bezel function, I'm sold!
I'm not sure of the exact differences (see here but the rotating bezel is the main feature that matters to me. The update was out when I got the watch.
Update is free and easy through the app, though I had to use an old phone as my Huawei (Mate 20 Pro) didn't want to trigger the update install. Samsung Pay config also doesn't launch on my Huawei (it does on an old ZenFone that I updated through).

I got this watch for its ability to download Spotify playlists. Pair the watch with Bluetooth headphones and you don’t need to take your phone with you running/walking.

I was eyeing the Active 2 for the same reason! Do you know if you need your phone for GPS running apps? I'd like to run without my phone but still have the tracking.
That would need the watch to have dedicated GPS
I use strava on the watch and it uploads once you are back in Wifi range
