There is a newer model coming out

    • Which one are you referring to?

        USW-Pro-24-POE Gen2
Build and expand your network with the UniFi® Switch, part of the Ubiquiti Networks® UniFi Enterprise System. The UniFi Switch PRO 24 PoE, is a configurable Gigabit Layer-3 switch with auto-sensing 16 802.3at PoE+ and 8 802.3bt PoE++. It offers 24 RJ45 Ethernet ports and 2 SFP+ ports, providing 10 Gigabit PoE links to your devices and fiber uplink options to your enterprise network.

The UniFi Switch PRO 24 PoE features an 1.3" touch LCM and integrated fans for quiet cooling. The LCM provides current switch states and the neccessary information you need for quick diagnosis.

Managed and configured by the UniFi Controller with UniFi Mobile app support, the UniFi Switch offers an extensive suite of advanced Layer-3 switching protocols and features, including operation mode (switching, mirroring, or aggregate) per port, Inter-VLAN routing, static routing and DHCP server. The UniFi Controller and mobile app allows admins to configure and monitor virtually all of the switch features in a graphical user interface from anywhere.

Note: Layer3 will be included in later software release

        • The USW-Pro-24-POE is already available and not a replacement of the one I posted. It's part of the same generation with more PoE ports and some additional features: hence the "Pro" designation.

          • @Thrymr: Yeah the pro is way more expensive too.

@Thrymr: Its still a gen2 meaning new model similar to ipad ranges

    • What is the newer model?

    • +1

      This is the gen 2?
      Which is the newest model with the little screen;

      • -1

Yes, it's the Gen 2 model with silent cooling and the 1.3" display.

Bit confused by the "newer model coming out" comment as this is a relatively new addition to the UniFi range.

  • Hmm, should I get this or get the 16 port and rely on the extra pets on the udm Pro

    • +1

Depends on your PoE requirements. Note that the 16-port model only has 8 PoE ports, whereas this 24-port model has 16 PoE ports.

      • So far i have 6 PoE ports required.

        • You could get away with the USW-16-POE, but for $110 more, the USW-24-POE would save you from having to buy another switch if your PoE requirements ever increased in the future.

I previously only needed 5 PoE ports for APs, then that suddenly increased to 13 ports when I added some cameras and an intercom system.

          • @Thrymr: 5 aps wow

          • @Thrymr: If I don't the need PoE option in a port, is there an option to disable it? Eg plugging into a pi or nas

            • +1

@BanannaMan: It should sense power requirements based on what's plugged in, but you manually disable it for extra peace of mind.

              • @Thrymr: Cheers

                • @BanannaMan: Of course this could still get a fair bit cheaper as well?

Seems to still be a premium over the older models?

            • @BanannaMan: Just noticed there is a PoE hat you can get for a Pi - make it even more convenient.

  • 5 aps, wow.
