McCulloch 25cc Petrol Line Trimmer (Whipper Snipper) $99 + $19 delivery [ExtraStock]

100

Made in USA - Straight Shaft - 25cc 2-stroke - Model MT255CLS - Brand new with 12 month warranty

A nice brand trimmer at a similar price to the nasty chinese cheapies with bent shaft.

Shipping is $19 Australia-wide - they never make this clear on the site ($ sign is missing).

It's promoted as a "One Day Deal" from 24th Aug, but it's on sale till stocks run out.

RRP is apparently $199, and they sell on ebay for $158 (same seller). So this is not a bad deal if you are looking for a "name brand". I won't be trading in my Honda 4-stroke trimmer, however :-)

ExtraStock is a good, reputable seller of seconds, run out stock, etc. They also sell on ebay, and I've always had great service from them. Here's a link to the main website - lots of good stuff to be found if you go digging through it all… http://www.extrastock.com.au/

  • Isn't the ones with the bent shaft easier to use? I'm a noob with whipper snippers so I've never used a "straight" one before (as shown in the pic)

    • +1

The bent shaft ones are much more unweildy (cumbersome), and the operating angles are all wrong (especially when the edger is used on it side for edges). Plus the curved shaft causes more friction (less power) and theoretically wears out faster.

Without going into details, the bottom line is that Cheapies = bent shaft, Professional = straight shaft…. that is all you need to know really. :-)

      • i can confirm that a bent shaft is no fun.

  • +3

Bent or straight pity i can't find anything made in australia.

    • LOL - I've been looking for a LCD TV made in Australia. Or a mobile phone. Or a camera. Or a motorbike. Or….

    • I managed to find (and then buy) a lawnmower made in New Zealand!

It's made with aluminum too so there is no chance of it rusting

  • Thanks, these are $189 at Bunnings.

  • Hi Llama,

    Thanks for posting our deal.

Glad we are able satisfy a few OzBargainers - as we no longer post here directly.

They were on sale on One Day Sale - this week - and were popular - they have just been restocked and feature on our Fathers Day "Most Wanted" list of specials.

    Thanks,

    ODS

  • Hi everyone, dumb question but do you have to be tall to use the straight trimmer?

I'm around 165cm so I don't know if it'd be too unwieldy for me, thanks.

  • what about warranty with this thing?
