Firmoo Optical - 'Free' Glasses (Free/Discounted + Shipping)

Found these guys advertising on my facebook (they're in the US of A), haven't used them so happy for anyone to give feedback if they have. Shipping might be expensive-ish, as I'm at work I didn't go through the process - again happy for people to note how much it is.
They give away 1,000 pairs per day, so if it's all done today then try again tomorrow (assumedly US time)

Interestingly they have another code on facebook (can't be used together), lens25 which gives 25% discount on the cost of lenses, AND (as per their website - http://www.firmoo.com/help-c-10.shtml):
"When the amount of your shopping cart exceeds $35, you will be entitled to free shipping. The free shipping service is available for customers from any countries… ",
so it might be cheaper to make your bill $35 with the 25% off and get a nice pair of glasses for $35 with delivery.
EDIT: just saw on their homepage they say free shipping is for over $60, so don't know which is true…

  • Price of postage would be nice. (I'm feeling lazy.)
It's probably around $10 like Clearly Contacts I reckon.

    • My first pair from Clearly Contacts cost: ~$13 (for postage)

My recent 2nd pair from same Canadian co: ~$19 (again, for the postage)

Meanwhile, I've been enjoying "free" postage on even many item
      - large & small - from Hong Kong vendors of Chinese & Japanese
      gear (not glasses).

So, I think these "free Glassess" offeres are pushing the costs
into postage fees, which are clearly on the rise.

Still good value (at least from Clearly Contacts), in my experience.

I do NOT know "Firmoo" as I've never dealt with them.

"Go slow, til you know" :-/

Maybe check their local "Better Business Bureau" (in their city?)
or look for on-line reviews before ordering/paying.

Sending something from China to Australia is much cheaper that sending something from America/Canada to Australia.

  • very cheap, $4.95 postage to NSW. Full glasses for under $15 ! crazy !! No brand but if you want some spairs for the car etc its good

    • That is cheap! Thanks.

  • Goods are taxed at the value of the items being sent…however postage costs are exempt - especially in the Asia region. Not surprised to see that "value" is being transferred to postage. US postage - apparently has more costs after 9/11 in detection procedures implemented.

I think that is for things going to America.
If you send something over about 500 grams you need to pay an extra $10-15

Postage form china is cheaper because they are a poorer country than America/Australia so things cost less.
And china/hong kong are also exporting many things (plus their local postage volume would be huge) so their postal service can make smaller amounts of profit per package.
