Tell Me What TV Show I Should Watch Next?

So my favourite tv shows prisonbreak, stranger things, dexter and breaking bad finished

I watched game of thrones first season didnt like it much and now in the middle of the walking deead.

The first 3 seasons were on parr with breaking bad and prisonbreak, but season 4 is just dragged out, they bring back old characters like the governor and some scenes are completely pointless. Like the first episode in season 4 with the irish woman who yaps on ..what was the whole point of that scene, already saw people keeping walkers as they were family members, seems like they're just reusing the old plot lines.

They could have made new plot lines, but just plain old killing more walkers, ppl walking etc. some new plot lines like underground tunnels, level 1 or 2 walkers, stronger more fearsome walkers. I get the whole point of the other humans as being worse than walkers is fine, but that's what was shown in season 3?

I think i'll continue with this show but any other suggestions?

edit
THANKS FOR everyone's suggestions!
Persisted through season 4 of TWD and mid way of season 5…but incredibly mind numbing boring…like i wold rate it at 2/10. So boring that i just skip some scenes. Seriously couldn't the writeers think of something else than just break into a house, steal, walkers then a main character goes, people mourn, then repeat FFS.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Lucifer.
It drags a bit sometimes but it's a pretty good story. Loved it and everyone that I know that has watched also loved it!

  • The assassination of Versace. I love Cunanan

    Better Call Saul
    The Sopranos
    Fargo
    Billions
    Westworld

  • They have already been mentioned, but based on the other shows you like, I would highly recommend:

    • Fargo
    • Justified
  • +1

Money Heist if you have Netflix.

It's a Spanish show dubbed into English about a bunch of people planning to rob the Royal Mint of Spain.

Just finished S1 and S2. It wasn't too bad actually though it got a little cliche towards the last episodes.

Season 1 was particularly good. Don't watch the dubbed version. Watch it in Spanish with subs, it is MUCH better. Season 4 is out in April.

  • Has anyone mentioned:
    SEE
    The Morning Show

    Apple TV

    I enjoyed them both!

  • +1

    Sesame St marathon

  • If you haven't seen The Wire then that is the one to watch. I've not seen anything better and in my opinion it is far, far superior to Breaking Bad. Such a complex story told from all perspectives. As soneone else said use subtitles as the Baltimore accent and slang takes some getting used to. You will also avoid missing some killer quotes if the subtitles are on.

I thought the first couple of seasons of the good place were brilliant but the repeated jokes about the characters started to wear thin and I found the latest series hard work. Good finish though!

  • How I met your mother.

  • Chernobyl
    The Boys
True Detective (second season not so good)
    Fargo
    Narcos
    Better Call Saul
    Mr Robot
    Billions

    True detective S1
    Avatar the last airbender
    Arrested development S1-S3
    Twin Peaks (Original)

  • Some old comedy shows
    Gerhard Reinke's Wanderlust
    Gerhard Reinke's America
    Gerhard Reinke Globehopper (Japan)

Otherwise hit up youtube and head down the rabbit hole, start off with Magnet fishing, come across man + river, then end up watching some dumpster diving

  • The Night Of

    Luther

    Eastbound and Down

    Wayne

    F**k that's Delicious

  • 90 day fiance

    • maybe just like %55 percent

    the night of (very good)
    you
    narcos 1, 2, 3
narcos mexico 1, 2 coming soon

    other shows i enjoyed
    end of the fu##king world
    sex education
master of non (self discovery type of thing, i enjoyed it, its aziz ansari but they stopped it after the fake sexual rumors)

    • They weren't rumours, they were allegations… Why do you think they were fake?

      • because the girl herself explained it and it sounded retarded, she said so he asked me to have sex, i said no so he asked a few more times so i did it, lmao

Why has no one mentioned Shameless ?

  • Can't go wrong with the ones mentioned. Mr. Robot is one of the top choices.

    I enjoyed-
Utopia (British) they have just finished a US version which is due out soon. Older show, not that well known. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utopia_(British_TV_series)
    The Sinner (first season).
    The leftovers.
The first few seasons of Falling Skies.
    It's always sunny in Philadelphia.

    • The first few seasons of Falling Skies.

Yes how good was that show early on? Then it got extended beyond what they thought was going to happen and they had to just fill it with content and then made it very actiony.

      • Yeah first seasons were great, then they must have changed writers. Too true, don't get me started on the daughter's story line either.

  • +1

Homeland, I really enjoyed it once I started watching it.

  • I'm sad to see that no one's mentioned Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. You basically need to have some familiarity with the MCU or you'll miss out many of the references. Season 7, the finale one, will be coming out this year and I'll be sad to see it end. Every season has just been mind blowing and ties amazingly with the MCU.

    • I found the first few seasons great. Then after the Bill Paxton event it really kind of went a bit soft. Season 5 was pretty epic though.

  • +1

Searched whole thread, could not find a single reference to Dollhouse.

Great show, pretty much the inspiration for the concept behind Altered Carbon…. just with more ELiza Dushku & Summer Glau (but no nudity) :(

    • Yes! Amazing show that ended prematurely.

      • Just like Dark Angel.

      • It did, but to be honest I loved the 2nd half of season 2, everything ramped up so quick, and you could see where it was going, then the season 2 epilogue was like "Oh shit, they didnt stop it at the end of Season1!!"

    • The Altered Carbon novel was published in 2002, Dollhouse premiered in 2009.

  • Here are some of my favourites that I would definately recommend:

GOT - Definately stick with it, it gets better (Just lets not talk about Seasons 7 and 8)
    Deadwood
    Chenobyl - 5-part mini-series.
    Killing Eve
    Downton Abbey
    Black Books
    Fleabag
    Sherlock
    Wentworth
    The IT Crowd

I left off Dexter and Stranger Things as you already mentioned those.

  • I am currently working through Mr Robot.

    It's so good.

  • Dollhouse.

    The Expanse.

    Altered Carbon.

    American Gods

    Good Omens.

    Chernobyl.

    Vikings.

    Westworld.

    The Boys.

    • I enjoyed good omens but the book was better (ass it is 99.9% of the time)

      • Oh god I hated good omens. Just felt like they were trying to hard to be funny.

        • I take it you've never read Terry Pratchett or Neil Gaiman's books, then? The TV show was a complete reflection of their senses of humour.

        • I thought it was really so funny and clever when I read the book at age 13, and just so try hard and obvious when watching it at 40

  • The spy.
It's really good, finished in one day.

  • Billions
    Bosch
    Better Call Saul
    Homeland
    Jack Ryan
    Narcos
    Sneaky Pete
    Person of Interest

Also Supernatural is way more entertaining than TWD. It's also the longest running sci-fi TV series ever.

  • Person of Interest

  • Toss a coin to your Witcher

  • The Expanse new season just came out.

    • There is a season 5?

      • amazon prime only after it got ditched by syfy

  • +2

Better call saul is a spin off of breaking bad following Saul Goodman / James McGill (the dodgy lawyer). This show imo is better than Breaking bad and has some really fantastic acting. If you liked BB you'll like bcs.

  • +1

Banshee 4 seasons WATCH IT TRUST ME

    • looks good

  • The Wonder years

    Family Ties

    Family Matters

    Perfect strangers

    New York undercover

    Just ideas…

  • Money Heist on Netflix is good.
    Ozark
    Stranger Things
    13 Reasons Why
    Better Call Saul
    How I Met Your Mother

  • Band of brothers. True detective. The pacific. Yellowstone. Quarry (my favourite. About a vietnam vet). Too old to die young. Fargo

The leftovers. Not a well known show but its very good. Reminds me of early lost (same creator as lost).

  • +1

    Home and Away

  • To not duplicate all really good recommendarions above, mine is "Riverdale".
This tv series won't overload your brain and not a masterpiece.
The plot is a bit weak due to numerous teenage vanilla twists but still watchable.

  • The Shield.

Plus my odd pick - Flavor of Love - For the lols

  • sharp objects - great twist and ending

  • +1

Oh it looks like it hasn't been mentioned, but you definitely have to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer and see where all the sharp wit American Joss Whedon type shows originally came from. It is a bit of a masterpiece (although I really didn't like it when it came out). Has plenty of seasons to sink your teeth into (pun intended).

    Read a good book instead?

    • +1

Not a lot of those around in the last 6 months.

    • My eyes are tired at night and it's easier for me to watch tv, otherwise I would read at night.

  • The Boys
    The Witcher

Both only 1 season, with 2nd seasons on the way. So you aren't roped into 8 seasons of something you lose interest in half way through.

  • +Chernobyl

I have the same interest in TV shows as you. Love Prison Break, Stranger Things and Dexter

  • +1

    Line of Duty
    The Fall
    Bodyguard
    Manhunt Unabomber
    The People V. O.J. Simpson
    The Killing
    Chernobyl

    Yes, I like crime dramas.

    • Line of Duty. yes! Loved it .

  • The Simpsons

But seriously, Chernobyl is a must watch - one of the best I reckon.

  • Brooklyn Nine Nine

  • The Expanse
    Magicians
    Picard
    Altered Carbon
    Carnivalle
    American gods
Avatar the last air bender (not the movie)
Rick and Morty (but you need to be super intelligent to enjoy it)
    Chilling adventures of Sabrina
    True Blood

  • DRAGONBALL Z, not sure where to stream it from though

    • Seen all of it…the tournament was best sequel

  • Looks like nobody has mentioned "The Preacher", go for it - it's a hoot

  • Thanks everyone :) We're about to welcome a baby, and all these shows are greatly going to help out :)

    • +1

hmm i havent watch any tv show since i got a baby as i prefer to catch up my sleep then the shows. good luck

      • I had this fantasy that I'd be able to look after baby with TV on in the background… I was horrifically wrong!

  • Crash Landing On You! korean drama 16 eps on Netflix. Very funny and interesting to learn more about the way of life in Nth Korea. It’s huge in asia.

  • UNBELIEVABLE !!!

I don't see any mention of
    The Bureau
    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4063800/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_5
One of the best TV shows I've ever seen.

    In the same league as
The Wire - undeniably the best TV show ever made
    and
    Bron/Broen
    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1733785/

  • I love this post.
    Great recommendation!

  • I see The Expanse gets a few mentions. Worth checking out Dark Matter as well.
