Long time reader, first-time poster!

North Brisbane Building and Pest Inspections (NBBPI) has been set up recently by builder Brett Zenovich. He did an inspection for me a while ago when he worked for a large franchise, but since then he has gone out alone (and we are now friends hence "I am Associated with the Store").

As with any new business he is struggling to get attention so has set up 3 different offers to tempt us in:

5% off - if you quote 'website' (during February 2020)
$25 off - (or 5% if it is larger) if you are an eligible first home buyer (This will be a long-running offer)
$10 donation to Rural Fire brigade

He has priced himself to be one of the cheapest choices already so with the deal it's getting close to the cheapest you'll find. He intends to put the price up once he's known as he does provide a pretty good service, you can call him and chat to him/ask questions etc.

I can vouch for his professionalism and high level of service, I know a couple of other ozbargainer's that will hopefully upvote as they've used him either for building inspections or for renovations, but no pressure peeps :-)

His name is a bit misleading, he's more than happy to work in the CBD and south of Brisbane.

3 bdm Building & Pest Inspection $409 after $10 off

    Wow !!!

    2% off !!!

    • 2% off NO DEAL HERE

That's good feedback for him I guess - that it's not a big enough offer to be of interest. I think he'll argue that his prices are cheap already. Maybe if someone who's currently in the market for an inspection could comment?

        • Maybe if someone who's currently in the market for an inspection could comment?

You don't need to be in the market to know this falls into the "no deal" category.

Ive been on this site for about 10 years, I've never seen a 2% discount deal posted before!

@ash2000: What about when people used to go nuts over a 1% rise on eBay at Cashrewards.

            • @ilikeit: I wasn't amongst them, but at least the 1% Cashback could be applied to any product or stacked with existing sales/discounts.

Except for the 1% Cashrewards deals you've seen before…but that doesn't count because it wasn't 2% and you didn't go nuts?

      Don't forget the 2% donation!!!

      • +1

minus the tax deduction you can't claim, but they can…

Had a chat to Brett about this, if you are a customer and show him your $10 donation receipt he is happy to take the $10 off. As long as it's done in the spirit of offering a bit of help to those that need it.

  • For a long time reader this is a pretty dire ‘bargain’

    Catchy web address…

      Dammit… I forgot an 's'….

By the time i retyped it, the termites have destroyed my foundations…

Getting value for money in the letters to dollar ratio

    • Fancy spelling that over the phone

  • Damn, really wanted southbrisbanebuildingandpestinspections.com.au
    Aaah well, I'll keep looking.

Something about this deal doesn't sit right. Feels like referrer spam

    • +1

I understand the scepticism. I can only assure you I have nothing to gain other than helping a friend and hoping someone gets a bargain. Brett needs the work whilst he's starting up so is offering the deal. He does have a fairly large online footprint with a decent history so you can google him if that helps? But hopefully, someone will take up the offer and then be able to assure you that everything is as it says on the box. :-)

What is a bdm and how do I find out if there are 3 bdm's?

    • +1

      Bedroom

    Pathetic discount.

    • +1

Perhaps. But does the price represent good value for money?

      • +1

$4-500 is generally the going rate if they provide both services.

Brett put a price comparison of the Top 10 Google companies into an article here:

        https://northbrisbanebuildingandpestinspections.com.au/artic…

It's certainly not an extensive price comparison, but it does seem to point out that the 'published' prices are higher if you just use google.

He said that most of the smaller companies you find on pages 2 to 10 all offer a very similar lower price.

Generally, Pest Control companies just don't have a good name unfortunately…there I said it.

    • +2

There are a few comments about 'Pest Control'. Sorry if I've misled anyone but this is not a Pest Control company. It is a QBCC licenced building and Pest inspection service. Anyone buying or selling a property would use Brett to check that the property is structurally sound. So if you're not buying or selling a property you probably won't be interested.

Thank you for all the feedback. As I said I haven't done this before.

I have forwarded the feedback about $10 being a small 'bargain' to Brett and he agreed that 2% was not a lot, so is happy to give 5% off on all listed prices. The website will be updated tomorrow to reflect this and I'll update the title after this post.

Agree the website name is long. He registered nbbpi.com.au as well so feel free to use that. I should probably use that in future too and make the change above Apparently the domain name he wanted was in the tens of thousands of dollars!

Lastly, Brett does not offer a Pest Control service. He is a building and pest inspector which is different. He will check a house you are buying or selling to see if it has structural issues.

A sincere thanks for all the comments and I hope someone gets a genuine bargain….that's what matters!

I did mine from a professional pest control for 4 bedrooms under $300, note the pest control done by was the original guys who installed while building the house. Stevie Redback

    • Peeps he is not offering "professional pest control".

    • +2

This deal is not for a pest spray Yadzz… This is for an inspection… Massive difference as one has indemnity insurance while the other walks around and sprays mortein from a bottle which you can buy at woolies.

  • It might be better to spend the $409 on 5 or 6 in-ground bait stations filled with pine that you add a non-repellant chemical to after you find termite activity. This kills the termites in the nest rather than just sets up a barrier. I plan to do this as the termites have just started to eat my newly laid jarrah floorand they are not suppose to do that.

    • It's not pest control @KevCol !! It's for a licenced building and pest inspector to inspect your house for structural defects. People do it when they are buying or selling houses to make sure they aren't lemons. More often than not you are paying an inspector to inspect someone else's house you are thinking of buying. If termites are found in the house you'll normally have the chance to break to contract you signed to buy it.

If you end up buying it, then you might call a pest controller, which wouldn't be Brett, as he does inspections, not pest control.
