931
BDAYFEB20

Hey peeps!

Was looking for a deal on wireless earbuds and came across these on sale at qantas store. I suppose you need a qantas account and some points to access this deal but I figure must ppl on OzB do.
Correct me if I'm wrong but this is the lowest dollar price they have been.

Available in black and silver.

Enjoy

    Once bitten, twice shy.

Anyone going to fall for this again ?

    • What happened?

    • Have I missed something?

  • +10

Not buying anything from this shtstore ever again after the last cancellation on these same headphones!

    • Love how everyone salty from being greedy from an obviously targeted discount code..

      • Love how people think ozb'ers are salty just over a discount code rather than other factors too

  • +2

(Targeted) Try code BDAYFEB20 for feb birthday’s, code says 10% off, guess it’s off the points, only came to $256.38

    • +1

      The code works

      • +2

Lol let's see what happens when hordes of OBers appear to be born in feb!

  • +5

    Never again.

  • -7

    They don't honor it.

    • +2

They do if you don't attempt to use a discount code intended for Qantas staff.

    • +9

You referring to the time a Qantas staff code was shared here and Qantas store cancelled orders due to ppl using a code they were not entitled to?

      • Although to be fair Qantas should have had better checks in place to prevent this from happening in the first place. After all ebay can do it.

        • +2

Agreed, however people took a chance and it didn't work- its like a price error-its nice if the company honours it but you do not need to chuck a tantrum if they don't. I've worked in retail enough that the people who shout "I am never shopping here again" due to an error are customers you are much better off without.

      • +1

That is certainly not correct, I didn't use any code for the headphones. I used the code for camera which was fair enough but not the headphone.

  • Ok, I have to ask the obvious. Are these type of ear headphones really worth these prices? Is the quality of sound really worth an investment in the $300 range. I must be getting old, because it seems absurd lol.

    • +1

the sound is definitely comparable if not better than the Bose QC35 headphones, that's based on personal experience as I own both. I bought them when the Good Guys had some kind of pricing error or some such, for 250 or something and they've definitely replaced my Bose headphones in terms of daily use. I'd recommend them

      • +1

Curious how these function, when I was making my choice these were prone to dropping audio to one ear. That said I went with the Bose QC30s and while they sound great the neckband disintegrated, just got them replaced after 2 years under Consumer Guarantee.

        • This one is new, not the one you tried. And yes, this Sony beats QC35 in both ANC and Sound.

    • Would you pay >$100 for wired headphones?

If not, these probably arn't for you, unless you want the wireless+noise cancellingfeature.

The 'value' of sound quality is really up to your personal taste.

  • +3

Bought the Jabra 75t from Qantas store and it got delivered when they said it would. No dramas

  • +2

This is a great price. However, I would be careful when dealing with Qantas Store. They are horrendous. I had an issue with my previous purchase where it won't power on. I used online contact us and they never response to their email. I called and they said they will give me an update on my approval to return for a replacement. They never called back. I called again, they still telling me to wait.

  • -2

I'd rather pay some extra $30 ~ $50 to buy this from those reliable sellers who run their business honestly and support them with what they deserve, than saving these bucks and deal with Qantas store. Gross!

If you don't know what I'm talking about, we have a link above.

    • +1

Well I mean you are referring to an incident around them not honouring a code QANTASSTAFF when we're clearly not staff of Qantas. I don't really hold much animosity towards that. I mean they should have limited the code, but hardly the first big screw up on an e-commerce site.

      • +2

You're probably also not born in February. :P

      • -3

Obviously you didn't read that long thread thru. Someone said his sister also got order cancelled because of using that code while she is Qantas staff for sure. One case is enough to justify that it's nothing about if you're eligible using the code. It's about how ignorant and irresponsible they run the business, I mean Qantas store.

  • Ditto for me, not going to give Qantas Store my business. QFF store after sale service is one of the worst, helpdesk will brush you off from their list of canned responses without resolving anything. Not to mention they love fleecing people with their worthless points system.

  • I'll give a pass. Waiting for Sammy galaxy ear buds plus.

    • Just FYI, the new Samsung Galaxy earbuds+ won't have noise cancellation.

  • How do we know if this is not a targeted code for people whose birthday is Feb? What stopping Qantas Store from cancelling the order because your birthday in their system is not in Feb? Is it another attempt to suck people in buying 2000 points at x4 their values to qualify? There's no T&Cs to say otherwise. Just like they did with QANTASSTAFF discount. How were people supposed to know it was exclusive to staff, their system did not reject people from putting in the code, surely there is a field in their database that flagged staff, so should be easy to reject users without that flag? Other stores give out "staff" discounts to public all the time, e.g. Dells, so it was natural for people to assume Qantas staff discount code was a publicity stunt available to everyone…

    • +8

How could anyone possibly guess QANTASSTAFF was for Qantas staff?

      • Read next reply.

    • +2

Just like they did with QANTASSTAFF discount. How were people supposed to know it was exclusive to staff

      Are you serious?

      • +1

Have you ever heard of viral marketing? Companies do that from time to time, offering "staff discount" pricing as bait (Dell do that regularly), but intending for the mass to take up the offer. As a matter of fact I have received another "Staff Purchase" discount code today despite being just a past customer never staff. Or JB Hifi sending out "unique" discount codes which we see on OB regularly, do you take that literally?
It's not hard to link a discount code to a user account, they can do it if they really want to restrict the discount code. Even a smaller company like Kogan can do it (only specific accounts can use the codes that they sent out in their targeted promotions).

      • Lmao

    • -1

How were people supposed to know it was exclusive to staff

It's a moot point in the end as they ultimately used the use of the code as an excuse to reject orders because they didn't have stock.

  • +4

The qantas store is a joke. Don't do it. Pay the extra $40 and save yourself the misery

    • Indeed, it's an amateur hour drop shipping operation run from off shore (shipped from Oz).

  • +2

In the last sale, my earphones arrived after 4 months

  • Seems like they have cracked onto it….
“You are not eligible for this promotion”

  • +1

    Itsatrap

  • +1

Are people seriously upset Qantas didn't go through with a price obtained using a discount code for staff for people who clearly weren't staff?

    • +5

It's the refund process that ticked people off

  • Anyone know a good (but cheap) way to hook these up to airline entertainment systems? Just any old bluetooth transmitter and socket adapter?

    • +1

There’s a couple of devices specifically made for that task, personally I purchased the RHC Wireless Airline Adaptor which seemed like the smallest option, but it wasn’t cheap considering the price of the earphones relatively, but it has got some neat features like support for 2x pairs of headphones paired simultaneously. There is also the Airfly & Airfly Pro but they’re not much cheaper, and to me look bulkier.

      • Saw those but realistically 4X the price of basic BT transmitters (I seem to have a ton of adapters from the free earbuds that a lot of airlines use these days)

  • The Bose 700 nc earbuds are overdue for release now. I think I'll hang off for those.

Although, we won't see deep discounts on release.

  • Lol, black for 46000 points or silver for 71000 pts!

  • +2

I've had a pair of these and used them daily for three months for gym.

    Incredible earphones.

It's true the call quality was previously unusable but since the firmware update they've improved significantly.

If you're on the fence grab some.

  • +1

I have enough points in my account.. is it worth getting with points, or points and pay?

    • I ended up using 100% points. At this discounted total, the points equal street value so not as bad of a gouging as the usual store prices.

  • Personally I prefer these
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/153465799746

  • My experience with these haven't been the best. I think I might of got faulty ones out of the box. There is audio lag/shutter when watching YouTube videos. Sometimes it lags out the video. I tried to trouble shoot but couldn't find anything about the issue.

I'm in the process of returning them/replacing with Qantas

    • I've heard that there is lag with iphones for youtube.

  • Nice price comparatively so far. Still 10 pairs of Redmi Airdots though, which I am totally happy with.

    • I also got Airdots for $18 from gearbest. Sound Great, Great battery life and look very similar to these

    • do the Airdots have noise cancellation though? serious question

      • No, passive isolation.

  • I received mine yesterday and I must say after a quick play around yesterday with the standard tips I am not so impressed, especially with the noise cancellation.

Sound quality is generally good and the call quality test I did was great and the other person could hear me clearly both inside and on the street.

Will have a play with the foam tips later today and see if it is any better. Any hints from the Ozbargain Oracle's?

    • Were your experiences after upgrading the firmware to 2.1.0?

      • I updated mine as soon as I got them so all of my experience is based on the latest firmware.
Still haven't had a good chance to test them out for serious listening but have made a few calls inside and out and that aspect of them is great.

        • Thanks. Great to hear the mic has improved. I've tried a pair on instore but the mic was horrendous. Hopefully it was running on the old firmware. Just ordered a pair from Qantas Store. Hopefully it will arrive within my lifetime…

    • Is it only the noise-cancelling that you're not-so-impressed with?

      • s, the noise cancelling when no music is playing more specifically.
Music sounds great and I generally listen at a high volume where I would not notice any external sounds anyway.

  • I've noticed some people saying they didn't get their headphones delivered in time. Have some people manage to get their headphones from Qantas?

    • Got mine in about a week. Didn't use the code though.
