  still expensive for a text editor, however you can use the basic version for free.

  Right now it brings it down from $77 AUD to $61.59 AUD (not sure if cart uses live exchange rates, or that's the regular Australian price)

  I use bbedit at work as an osx replacement for notepad++ and it is a good tool. I used textwrangler until it was discontinued for bbedit. I only use the free version though and have never wanted the pro features. That being said I also use VScode so that may have something to do with not needing the pro features. Other colleagues use Atom.

    Yeah I personally use atom, VsCode or Xcode. Not doing anything particularly heavy editing wise on my Mac so each works fine for what I’m doing. Pretty much just use them to tweak config files for my Home Assistant setup.

  BBEdit is good, but not worth the price IMHO. VSCode is a better full blown IDE and tools like Brackets do 90+% of what BBEDit does but for free.

    C is essentially baked in to OS X because it’s really just a Unix flavour. Google will provide lots of help but Textedit and Terminal will get you started.

  While good, I much prefer Sublime Text.
