With the expiry of the recent xiaomi mijia night light, I saw this on amazon daily deal. It's cheaper has built in battery and has probably more lumens as it is a cool rather than warm light.

I have one of these, it turns off regardless of continued motion in front of it, a few seconds after they will come back on. This is very annoying.

  • can I use this in the kitchen … close to the cooktop?

    • No idea if it will last long under those conditions

    • I've also been looking for something like this as I don't have a cooktop light in this house I've just bought. Best option I've found so far (well cheapest) is at Bunnings, look at Arlec Battery lights.

      • above the cooktop it will definitely not work … could explode also

    • i use mine a hall way nightlight place above door frame

i dont think its suitable for kitchen

  • Deal is fully claimed now - I've got one just in time.

    • darn… too late for me :(

      • i bought a pair off ebay for not much more$

  • Try this, it looks similar, and not that far off the deal price. They look a bit shorter, but a lot less thick.

Caveat: I haven't used them. I use led strips with an outboard sensor+battery pack.
Edit: geez, there's heaps of them once you start looking.

    • It shows up as $43.98, quite a bit more expensive than the deal price here.

  • Built-in 600mAh battery, oof.

    • is that a good thing ?

      • Even AAA battery has more than that.
