  • XM4 release should push the headphones down soon right?
    EDIT: just joking btw.

    • i wish too but don't seem to see mx2 price dropped much after mx3 was released ages ago

  • WH-1000XM3 is one of the best purchases i've ever made in my entire life. Only gripe I have with them is that the 3.5mm socket is recessed (like on all sony headphones), so if you lose the 3.5mm cable that comes with it its no passive use for you (unless you buy another from sony for $50+).

    • does no other cable fit?

      • i've yet to find one. same issue on the other cheaper models too

        • Hmm. My WH-1000XM2s don't have a recessed 3.5mm jack. So this is something they did for XM3.

          • @lostn: interesting, i've only had the XM3 and the MDR-ZX770BN (replaced by the WH-CH700N), all 3 have a recessed 3.5mm jack (particularly deep on the ZX770 and CH700) which makes it near impossible to use any old 3.5mm cable with them. the plugs on both ends of the sony supplied 3.5mm cable are very slim with 1mm or less plastic around the brass plug. most 3.5mm cables have thicker sheathing on the plugs and won't fit due to the recess (they cant get deep enough for the plug to seat all the way into the socket).

I've had no issue using a few different 3.5mm auxiliary cables with my XM3s.

I do believe Sony have deliberately made the 3.5mm jack on the XM3s tailored to their bundled cable somehow, but at worst, it just requires a little wriggling around to get a 3rd-party cable to connect properly.

I tried the WF-1000XM3 on a flight. Its ANC is noticeable but nowhere near as quiet as an over-ears set.

Don't go in thinking that because it has the ANC chip of the WH-1000XM3s it will have comparable levels of ANC.

    • yeah theres no way i would ever swap my sony headphones (not sure which one) for any buds. (profanity) that.

      • buds are handy for lighter jobs when you don't need the added bulk. On a plane, they don't cancel near enough noise.

  • Greatest wireless noise-cancelling headset I have honestly ever used. Well worth the amount if you are looking for a serious upgrade. Blocks everything out. Had them since October 2018 and quality/ performance has not fallen off one bit.

  • Stay clear of this shop.
They sell without actually having stock. Took me one week (missing out on deals following my purchase) to find out that they wont have any stock for the next couple of weeks.
And I only found out on request chasing them. All while at the same time the item is still listed in their ebay shop with express shipping…

    • I had the same problem with Harvey Norman recently. After chasing up my order over several weeks and being told to just wait, my order was cancelled with no reason provided. The entire time I could see the product I'd ordered was available at nearby stores. Missed out on several other sales since my money was tied up with this order. I guess people should stay clear from them too.

  • Fine okay. i bought one… also used the $20 voucher for signing up to ebay plus trial to grab myself a Bluetooth dongle for my pc so that worked out alright.

    • I also started my trial a week ago but haven't received the voucher?

      • they didnt send an email or anything it shows the code at first and then gives you an option to use on an ebayplus cheackouts

        • Just went through my email again and no :( Is it possible that this is targeted, rather than for all ebayplus accounts?
