Amazon doesn't ship here for most items, but when they do the prices are pretty damn reasonable.

Had mine for about 6 months. It's the best (only) HOTAS system in the sub $200 price range. Cheapest on Staticice is $179 from PCCG.

I would strongly recommend performing this mod as well:

  • Wow that is a impressive deal, looks very nice, except I don't play those games anymore, otherwise looks like a good price

  • I wish Amazon was more clear on what ships to Australia.

There are some great bargains on there, but they take ages to find.

I purchased this for $50 AUD delivered a while back, not as good as this but it was mostly for Battlefield 3 so I didn't want to spend too much and all the cheap Logitech/Saitek stuff breaks in a month.

      Easiest way to find out:

Under the price, if it says "Want it delivered by —-? Order it in the next —- and choose Priority International Courier at checkout.",

      it ships to Australia.

Took me a while to figure out and yeah, it was a real pain adding things to cart and checking out just to see if they would ship here.

      • I don't think that's the case for all items Take the joystick I posted. It says it can't be delivered to Australia, but if you click on the 41 stores that sell it you can find some that do.

Some of them say international but don't, some of them don't say anything but do…

Yeah, it only works for the amazon.com store which has cheap shipping.

The other Amazon stores that ship internationally all seem to use $50+ couriers. Might be worth it for high end electronics but totally kills the deal for most items.

Someone pointed out http://www.shipstoaustralia.com.au/ in one of the Amazon theads, which I believe uses the Amazon API to figure out what products ship to Australia. Note: Links on that site are affiliated.

  • do you guys trust saitek's quality? i had an eclipse ii keyboard that had around 5 keys unresponsive within a year…

  • Does this have force feedback?

No it doesn't. So it would be like flying any modern plane.

    I paid $320 for the X52 pro a couple of years ago …. :'''(

After reading the positive reviews i went out and bought it for flight sim X.

Totally not worth it. It felt like a toy and hollow plastic. The buttons and dials were flimsy. Just not a solid product. It looks great tho with all the LED lights, but I ended packing it away and never used it again.

I went to a mates place and he had a HOTA that was heavy as a brick and had a very solid build. Almost felt like a real control. He picked it up from ebay for $100.

    • $100 for the X52 vanilla might be worth it, but i wouldnt pay anymore.

    • I thought it was perfectly fine. Bit light perhaps, but the rubber trim prevents it from feeling too cheap/tacky.

The next rung in HOTAS setups is CH fighterstick + throttle which will set you back $300. The joystick doesn't have a z axis either so you'll want to buy the pedals for another $150.

Important thing is you can get most of the functionality for a third of the price.

  • Tempted to get this for BF3…

    • Would this be worthwhile/fun for BF3? I 'joined' the series at BC2 and just clumesly use the cursor keys when flying. Do many BF2er's play with a control like this?

      Have pre-ordered BF3 BTW :)

      • Wouldn't recommend it unless you're going to play simulators as well. Most of the controls would be wasted and the extra bulk would be annoying in a game where you need the keyboard as well. The joystick + throttle take up as much desk space as a keyboard but obviously is much taller.

        I'd get this for BF3: http://www.logitechshop.com.au/logitech-extreme-3d-pro-joyst…

        • Good point Tycn. Thanks for the link.

I'm thinking theres gonna be much more air combat in BF3 than in BFBC2. Can't wait!

        • That joystick at logitechshop will wear out with little use.

Also buying a joystick was definitly worth it for BF2, BC2 didn't properly support them.

If BF3 supports them well, you will need a joystick to be the best.

      • Used Microsoft force-feedback joystick for BF2 and it was awesome compared to using the keyboard :)
