Car Insurance/ Repairs Question

So I stupidly backed into someone slowly at the petrol station trying to switch sides, lucky we both braked ASAP so the damages seems kind of minimal, but as It was my parents car and I'm not listed and under 25 the excess will be $1400 on top of the normal excess I believe.

Just wondering if you guys think it will be cheaper to try and figure it out with the other car owner rather then making a claim. Here's the damage.

For a Dualis that is a write off for sure. Lawyer up is my advice.

Get a quote for repairs from a couple of local Panelbeaters. When you know what it's going to cost, then you can decide whether to go the Insurance route or not.

  • I have xray vision, even through photos on my computer screen, so I can see the damages inside the car. Damage is about $100000000.

  • I scraped a car while reversing out of a spot, damage to the other car was $1200. Literally a 5cm scratch, but according to the panel beater, it needed all this other work. And yes, the other guy went to multiple panel beaters

  • Could have been worse had you backed in to the White Trans Am.

What's their normal excess? Depends on whether the other party wants to go down this route.

What sort of car is the white car in the background?

Damage to your car would be about $1,500

That’s at least two panels damaged, so 2 x removal of panels, repair & respray probably at least $1200 worth. It adds up quickly in my experience & his damage will probably be that much or more, even if didn’t it seem like much. I’d pay the excess, for both vehicles to be repaired will cost as much & most likely more.

  • Now this is more like it

  • Was it a BP or a Caltex?

  • Damage to 2 metal panels (and looks like probably the plastic wheel arch is scuffed and plastic bumper dented also).
    That's a lot more than $1400 imo
