  • So, we have 2x Dell i5 based Win 10 boxes, 1 of which was in a deal here on OzB

By any chance, would 1 of these SIMMs replace the 4GB RAM (to Double the RAM) in each of our Dell computers"…?

We need Reliable operation for the long- term… [or our kids would Scream]

    Tnx

PS Are there any lower-priced SIMMs around, that could do the job?

surprisingly not really. Cheapest for 2x8GB DDR4 is $91

DDR3 is $100 which is probably what you need if you have one of those ebay refurb Dells.

  • "high speed memory with perfected compatibility" "for the latest AMD Ryzen processor."

Good to know. 3200mhz is the lazy sweetspot to my understanding. I had to set my Aegis kit to 3200mhz manually, from 3000 stock. Fortunately it worked with the automatic timings.

    • It's pretty easy to overclock memory albeit you may need to reset your BIOS using CMOS if you have a low end board not aimed at overclocking.

Pretty sure the sweet spot for Ryzen is 3600Mhz.

There's large savings to be made if you can find the cheapest Samsung B-die kit and overclock it.

Yeah, my bad, 3,733MHz, long way off.

        • Infinity Fabric frequency is king. Whatever is the max stable IF clock (FCLK) will usually perform the best.

If you're lucky, you'll be able to do 1900MHz FCLK but most will do 1800-1866MHz.

      • now I want to buy this kit for $136. 3600mhz out of the box. AMD outsells intel 13 to 1 nowadays, its not surprising compatibility is getting much better

        • Chances are, you'll be able to overclock the Flare X to 3600 16-19-19, but if you want to plug and play the Ripjaws is a good choice. They're both CJR but I'm starting to see more 3600 16-19-19 kits by G.Skill come with DJR (basically a better version of CJR).

I've used them for years, never once had an issue. Why do you say that?

      • +1

I purchased a motherboard from them at the start of January broke after around 1 month of use (not their fault) but took two weeks to get to the point where they would let me return the motherboard to them and has been sitting in their warehouse ever since with 0 response back since the product got shipped to them

Ah bugger, My mate is having a very similar issue with Umart, took them bloody ages to get the return packaging around and they're refusing to offer any refund or replacement with a bit of a loophole. Seems like no retailer will refund any motherboard with a bent pin.. Kind of incentivizes a retailer to bend a pin and then just say it's out of their hands. I'll be taking photos of every motherboard I receive from now on.

@TheGoodPart: Dam that sucks my motherboard is am4 socket board so I won't have that issue but still sucks never the less. The only good retailers I have purchased from are Mwave and PCCG I won't be shopping at shopping express no more.

            • +1

@Joshminey: Fair enough. I've bought majority of my stuff through shopping express but Mwave have been good before and PCCG is absolutely outstanding for customer service. I always get lured by the shopping express prices though lol.

          • +2

@TheGoodPart: Umart generally refuse to refund irrespective of the issue. They might repair or replace if you're lucky.

            • +2

@iseeyou1312: Why I will not be using Umart again for anything after hearing the situation.
