    Is gourmet salt better for you?

    TLDR…NO, it’s all just salt

    No doubt there’ll be exaltation on how pink salt, black salt, etc are better for you due to <insert minuscule trace element> nope, it’s basically all just salt. It tastes good.

  • I personally can't tell the difference but lotsa chefs and home cooks swear by this stuff

      The vast majority can’t. It’s more to do with how coarse it is.

        I use the fancy stuff in small quantities more for its textural qualities than taste e.g. sprinkle on top of a choc chip cookie for a salty crunch. Any time the salt is being dissolved you're totally wasting it.

    • Definitely worth it for a good steak, pork belly/crackle or something like that. Nice big hit of salt.
      You can eat a flake of this on its own and it's quite nice, certainly tolerable, unlike many table salts.

    NaCl = NaCl

    Maldon is nice when you want some nice crunchy pieces of salt on your tomato and mozzarella salad, or similar.

  • My concern with sea salt is microplastics, I think it will become more of an issue over time

  • Meh, nothing beats Celtic salt.
