Manila, Philippines $230 Return from Melbourne, $274 Return from Sydney on Cebu Pacific (September 01, 2020 - February 28, 2021)

250

It's on again!
Cheap return flights to Manila, Philippines from Melbourne and Sydney.

Example:
Depart Melbourne/Sydney 11th Nov 2020 Return 24th Nov 2020 Total cost $230.03/$274.59

Cebu Pacific is a low cost carrier. Luggage and meals are extra.

If you've never been to Manila before, I recommend spending as little time as possible there. Manila is a typical big dirty Asian city with an unbelievable amount of traffic congestion nearly 24hours a day. There are plenty of beautiful destinations only a stone's throw away: Coron, El Nido, Bohol, Boracay, Baguio & Sagada just to name a few.

  • I highly recommend the Pinoy spaghetti…you'll punch thank me later.

chicken adobo and lumpia and balut

      • Are chicken adobo and lumpia that gross as to be mentioned in the same discussion as balut and sweet-hot dog-tomato-spaghetti?

    • +1

Bolognese + sliced hotdogs + sugar = Pinoy spaghetti

      • Calling it bolognese is giving it too much credit. Horrid stuff.

      Bibingka is nice

Philippino food is gross/weird and just plain not good most of the time. Prepare your tastebuds.

    • +1

Luckily Manila has a lot of Non-Filipino cuisine restaurants.

    • Do you mean their takeaway, which is weird spins on US food? I mostly agree.

Traditional food though, some of it is awesome. Sisig is delicious

Any deals from Brizzy? Asking for a Federal MP mate

    • Would need to include a domestic flight from Mackay.

      • Nar. He said it's ok to bill the constituents for the domestic flights

  • "If you've never been to Manila before, I recommend spending as little time as possible there."

it's not really that bad. parts of makati, rockwell or bgc are no different from melbourne or sydney. if you like doing "city" things (foodie-organic-type markets, restaurants, bars, shopping), then it's worth spending some time there.

Yes, not fair. Makati rocks and is on par with other big Asian metropoli. People are friendly (exceedingly so in some cases but I'll leave it there) and the beer cheap. You could easily spend a fun-filled weekend there and not regret it.

    • Although I agree my comment might be controversial, all I'm saying is it might not be worth spending 3 hours in a taxi to travel 5 kms to Makati, when there are so many wonderful & varied destinations very close by. Most of them are accessible by a short inexpensive domestic flight, which if you time it right, you don't even have to leave the airport (as there are now shuttle services between terminals, allowing you to bypass all that awful traffic congestion).

That said, if you do find yourself in Manila looking for something to do, there are plenty of options available (although many are difficult to find or hard to get to). However two of my favourites that I highly recommend is the Binondo food walk and Dampa seafood market

      • Huh? I was there on a work trip three weeks ago and the ride in and out of the airport to Makati took 30 minutes for both legs - and this was in peak hour. I know it's pot luck when it comes to traffic but your worse case scenario doesn't represent the standard. When deals are this cheap, folk should just go there and check for themselves.

        • I have personally experienced two 3 hour taxi rides to Makati from the airport, the first of which took me over 5 hours if you include the wait for the taxi as well. Yes i admit that those times are on the upper end of the scale, yet they still very much exist, especially around the time the flight (from Sydney) on this deal usually comes in @ 17:50. I no longer regularly travel to Makati straight off the plane, my current usual destination is 3 times the distance of 15kms in Timog. And 100% without exaggeration will on average take 3 hours. So if you got to to Makati in peak hour in 30 mins, make sure you savour it as that is definitely below average.

          • @shkippy: Fair enough. I'm based in KL so the flight from here arrives midday which is slightly different to Cebu Pacific. In any event, I've taken this flight in past from Sydney and my family and I just walk to the resort world next door and stay there for the first night. You're there in minutes and there is plenty to do and see. I'm no Philippines apologist but it seems to be doing a few things right (finally).

  • Did the deal run out? I'm looking at 11-24 nov for syd and it's showing me 270+115. That's the cheapest i can find for other dates too.

  • Over the past several days, we have seen a rapid escalation of developments surrounding the spread of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19). The aviation industry - including Cebu Pacific - has been significantly impacted by COVID-19.

We have had to cancel flights to key international markets, and more recently, majority of our domestic operations due to community quarantines and air travel restrictions.

Today, we have decided to suspend all our Cebu Pacific and Cebgo domestic and international passenger flights from March 19 to April 14, 2020, while the Enhanced Community Quarantine measures of the Philippine government are in effect.

It is a difficult, but necessary decision, as part of our efforts to ensure the safety of our passengers and operations teams, and to comply with stricter quarantine measures, and air, sea, and land restrictions - in the Philippines and other jurisdictions.

On March 18, we will operate our last flights until April 14, and these will be from Manila to Bangkok, Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Ho Chi Minh, Singapore, Taipei, and Bali and vice versa. We will work with the authorities to assist in flying stranded passengers in and out of the Philippines.

Prior to the Enhanced Community Quarantine, we operated 2,800 weekly flights to over 60 destinations across Asia, Australia and the Middle East, the most of any Philippine carrier.
