  • Want to pull the trigger. Tell me why shouldn't I get this at this price point.
Edit: Currently using Mi note 4 for past 3 yrs but now it has started to show it's age by slowing down and screen burn in.

    • +8

Because buying toilet paper is more important than buying this phone…😁
It's you who has to decide…

      • +1

        Pulled it

  • +2

    1) Is it the best phone under $400 mark in terms of Camera and battery life?

    2) Can someone please comment on camera of this phone?

    • -7

Nope I would look at redmi note 8 Pro better camera, fast, etc, sd card, yes it has mediatek cpu, but its plenty fast.

      • +1

I see, so why this deal going crazy if redmi note 8 Pro offer better things? Just wondering

      • +1

The Redmi Note 8 Pro camera is actually worse than the 9T. And since its Mediatek you can't install Gcam to make it better.

        • BTW, can we install Gcam on Redmi Note 5? Any guide for the steps?

        • -3

Gcam installed on my note 8 pro.. plenty of non Google play versions for 8 pro

          • +2

@Wayne7497: Yeah and the pics it takes is worse than stock. Whats the point?

  • this or Galaxy A51?

    • +1

      this.

  • Hi can anyone confirm if I pay by JB gift card will I still able to claim tax? Some place they will deduct the gift card payment from taxable amount.

    Thanks

    • +1

      Yes you can claim GST.

    • If it's a gift card they shouldn't deduct it unless it's a voucher. Gift cards should act just like cash.

    • You still get a tax invoice for the full value of the purchase, no matter how you paid for it.

  • +1

Guys, if you are a youi member, you can get the jb hifi gift cards on 5% discount to sweeten this deal.

    • Also with suncorp

      • Also with AGL rewards

  • +1

This or a pocketful of bananas?

    • +1

As if you need to ask. Without a doubt go the bananas

    • +2

This or a pack of toilet paper?

Edit: sorry that's out of my price range

      • 75 bids and going strong. If it doesn't go for 30k I'd be disappointed

        • Naa I'd only pay 30k for the collectors edition.

    • Is that a banana in your pocket or are you just happy to see me

  • +3

I bought this during the last deal and have been nothing but impressed with this phone. So much so I'm looking forward to the mi 10 coming out.

  • How are software updates on these phones versus Samsung? Do they keep updating as far into the future for Android? Will the battery start to drain with the new updates?

    • From my experience, if original rom, you should be able to get the most recent updates regularly. But if you buy this from third party online retailers, most of them flash a fake rom (disguising as global rom) and you will never be able to update the device. Unless you are brave enough to do those sideload and flash the rom yourself, you might brick it.

  • Looks like it would be a decent upgrade for me. How's MIUI these days? I've become used to stock Android, but I'm also not opposed to trying something new.

    • its great, easy process to remove unwanted bloatware/ads.
Great launchers to use if wanted more customization

  • Got this phone in the last offer. Great piece of hardware and included case is brilliant too. I tried MIUI and it's absolutely fine, but I prefer the stock experience so flashed the pixel experience rom. It is rock solid. And feels snappier. Amazing phone for $400.

I also got a TCL Plex for my sister, and there's really no comparison. Much better build quality on this device.

  • Clearance stock, i got one $399 and upgraded to MIUI 11 and andrio 10.

  • Any one owning one from the last deal had issues with wifi? There were some comments about certain WPA2 setups not working on the last thread and my googling isnt given me a consistent answer ?

Other than than looks great for the money and will replace my recently smashed s8

    • I've had no issues with wifi and i've owned mine since July last year. Used it with different hotspots and different modems. Also works flawlessly for downloading footage from my dash cams over wifi.

  • Any disadvantages buying this phone? It has no expandable storage, but everything else looks sweet. Why would you consider V40 for example over this?

    • after owning one since July last year, I would choose the LG V40 if you do a lot of video recording on your phone. LG V40 can do 4k60 and has laser auto focus. Up until the last update, the Mi 9T stuttered when trying to record 4k30, and the default camera app has issues with focus issues since it doesnt have laser auto focus (the LG V40 and Mi 9T Pro have laser auto focus). I've gotten around the focus issues and fps stutters by using GCam.

  • How would it compare to a galaxy note 9?

  • +3

No MicroSD is a deal-breaker for me sadly. Other than that great.

  • Bought this last time around. All round great phone. Just nitpicking really. Face recognition does not work that well, with the pop up camera, and once a screen protector goes on, biometric fingerprinting is less efficient.

    • +2

I've had no issues with screen protectors on mine. I'm pretty good at not getting any dust under screen protectors. If you have issues with yours, set the fingerprint after you've installed the screen protector.

  • +1

Currently using a pixel 3a but very tempted to buy this phone for a bigger screen and fancy features like popup cam and underscreen fingerprint. Can anyone give me a reason not to buy this please. I'm serious.

    • No reason, you buy, transfer data from old phone, sell Pixel for $200 on eBay = upgrade for $199!

      • great idea! thanks for the tip.

    • Tho Pixel camera is better than this.

    Launcher APP UPDATE!

Just received an update to the stock MIUI Launcher and it has now implemented an App drawer. Able to remove the clutter from the home screen for a cleaner look.

Great Phone for the $$$ (Paid $500 for mine - 18 months ago).

    • Good news. I bought this for my wife to replace her Pixel 3 and glad she now won’t miss her app drawer.

    • what MIUI version?

      • MIUI Global 11.0.4.0(QFJEUXM)

        Android 10 Security Patch 01-01-2020.

        • MIUI Global 11.0.4.0 QFJMIXM - I dont see any option on this version. :\

          • @arjay88: System Launcher Version: RELEASE-4.15.0.1437-02271559

            • @HelpWanted: have to download the .apk? or wait for OTA update?

              • @arjay88: I received the OTA update just before I posted.

                • @HelpWanted: the app drawer came as a system launcher app update after the MIUI 11 update.

          • +1

@arjay88: I have the same version as you, and no app drawer and no other update :(

    • Do you have issue with long screenshot in Chrome?
Apparently there is issue for it, I regard to update it.

  • +2

JB Miranda had one red left in stock and reduced it by further 5% after I showed them the OW website. Saved me a trip down the road to OW Taren Point.

  • This is dual sim yeah? Official site seems to say so but not sure if it comes in multiple versions?

    • +1

Purchased one last deal and it had dual SIM slot. Hopefully someone can confirm

    • +1

It's dual SIM. At the bottom of the phone has a little SIM tray with 2 nano SIM slots that you need to insert a pin to make pop out. Bought from the JB HiFi same link last deal. I don't think there is a single SIM version of the Mi 9T.

The only version confusion I have encountered is between the Mi 9T and the Mi 9T pro (which has the faster 855 processor, but unfortunately has no good price for local stock). But physically & in almost all respects those 2 phones are the same, it's only the CPU that's different.

      • one other difference is the pro version has a laser focused video stabiliser function which lets you take better videos.

  • Anyone got thoughts on the in screen fingerprint? I hated it on the samsung a50, had to retrain it most days… Thanks!

    • I've added multiple versions of my thumbs and index fingers from different angles and it has been fine for me.

      • -1

As long as you don't add a screen protector, otherwise most of time it wouldn't work.
I had to peel off my tempered glass, so I am able to use the fingerprint unlock.

        • +1

Works fine under a tempered glass screen protector. I've gone through multiple screen protectors, none of them have had any issues. It works better when you set the fingerprint after installing the screen protector. The main issue is people are not so good at installing screen protectors and end up with gunk under the screen which will affect the accuracy of the fingerprint reader.

  • This is not the dual sim right ?

    • This takes dual SIMs

  • This or Oppo Reno Z?

    • +1

this, camera notch, mediatek, colorOS is cons for me.

  • Any idea on how long this deal will last?

    • Buy now, think later.

      • Haha, already decided to buy now! Just waiting on supplementary Amex card to arrive for bonus points!

    • I think 18th March

  • I just tried to price match at officeworks, apparently I wasn't able to due to the model numbers listed on each site being different? Did anyone else encounter this issue?

    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/xiaomi-mi-…
    Model: 23416

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/xiaomi-mi-9t-128gb-carbon…
    Model: 4521933

Honestly have no clue what this all means.

    • +8

      Just Officeworks being losers

    • try a different OW. As long specs is same, shouldn't be a problem.

    • I was able to price match, they didnt even check the model number, was a quick check. I honestly dont see why some OW staff make it such a pain, just making themselves look bad..

      • Which store was this at mate?

      • when I look at OW website it says online purchase only.

I called OW and confirmed that it is online purchase only and they could not do price beat since it is only purchase.

I need to call/buy over the phone. Over the phone, they wont accept team member discount.

Did you buy in store ?

  • This or the S10E for $599? Is the S10E worth the $200 extra?

  • This or the Nova 5t for ~$440 on all phones eBay plus deal?

  • thanks , bought one

  • Why do JB only provide 1 year warranty on this phone when almost all other brands is 2 years? Is this not local stock?

    • Even OW provide 12 months warranty and as per instruction to them they will offer you extended warranty.

  • Ordered:) Any recommendations for casing? My wife prefer those flip cover type, checking Gearbest and Ebay atm.

    • Ringke Fusion x for max protection =)

      • Where to buy? Not showing in ebay au when i search rinke x mi 9T.

I think i can see it on ebay US.

        • Ebay seller: ringke_direct

  • You cant go wrong with a $400 phone nowadays.
