  • ohh man wish i'd known this earlier

  • +1

Can I remove my ebay listings, list them on gumtree, then relist them on ebay thinking

    • +11

      Yes

  • +3

    Sweet, gold bullion isn't excluded

    • +5

[me, hoping toilet paper is on the exclusion list] Please, please, please…

  • +1

    " What is excluded?
The promotion is only valid for Free Insertion and Final Value Fees on the first 5 listings that result in a Qualifying Sale per month during the Promotion Period. Final Value Fees are the selling fees charged on sale of an item, calculated as a percentage of your total sale price. Insertion Fees, depending on how many listings you have already created, as well as optional upgrade fees (such as reserve price, subtitle, etc.) may apply; learn more about seller fees, including the number of Free Insertion Fees per month by viewing our complete fee table."

What? So its 2 or 5?

    • +8

      2 free gumtree listings
Has to be within the first 5 items sold on your ebay account for that month.

  • +2

I feel like the '10%' in the header is kinda confusing, I'd just say free final value fees.

  • +2

Technically only good for items that can be picked up incase the item is sold via Gumtree.

We all know that Gumtree is only good for face to face meetings and cash.

    • +2

Why? You can just delete it off the other website when it sells on another….. pretty standard.

Now they even encourage this behaviour.

      • I've got a negative feedback recorded against my name exactly that way.
I tried to fix it via ebay and they just did not care.

    • We all know that Gumtree is only good for face to face meetings and cash.

Actually I've sold more on Gumtree to people wanting items posted than face to face. Yet to have an issue.

      • So, they paid you first, and then you shipped it? Do you ship standard or signature to prove they got it? Curious.

        • Yes, exactly that - they pay, then I ship. I only bother with signature if the buyer wants to pay to have it - all Aus. Post parcels are tracked these days so even with standard shipping you get proof that it was delivered. Signature just means the postie can't "leave in a safe place" if no one is home.

Last item I sent like that was a $1300 lens - buyer paid with PayPal, but we spoke on the phone first before he paid so he should make sure I wasn't some African scammer! Item before that was a couple of hundred bucks worth and that was paid for with bank deposit.

Obviously there's always a degree of risk in posting something off like this, but I've done it enough times without issue that I figure I'm pretty good at gauging people.

Besides, I live in a rural area and there just aren't that many people local enough to buy most things I'm selling.

  • Post 2 Items Free each Month on eBay via Gumtree (Save 10% on Insertion & Final Selling Fees)

What's 10% got to do with anything? It's 2x free listings isn't it (Inc insertion and FVF)?

    • +1

Because that's roughly what it will be with listing otherwise? then add Paypal and GST…

  • +2

Also note you probably will have to chase up the final value fees as gumtree/ebay dont seem to pass that along.

    • +3

I've never been charged a final value fee and i been using it for age.

  • +7

I use this a lot, it never tracks - just a heads up to check your account after sales. Support have been good at applying manual credits but it does take time.

  • This is the best thing from eBay that i use, either than that there isn't much

    • I signed up for Plus a second year PURELY for discounted item listings…. and guess what, nothing.

Will never fall for that again.

      • +2

the only reason why i joined plus is cause it was $40 plus they gave me a $50 gift card. So i got $10 for joining plus. But i doubt that will ever happen again XD

        • Yeah, I prefer to think of it as 20% off a $50 eBay gift card.

          • @WaywardOne: Yeah quite true! Plus is pretty trash. I think the only things I have benefited is the free express post using a code and 15% off sitewide. Either than that joining was pretty much 20% off a $50 giftcard.

      • what do you mean by 'discounted item listings' ?
doesn't every eBay account, get 40 x free listings a month?

does eBay PLUS give discounted final-value-fees ?

        • They originally had more selling offers, be it full discount or the like…. it was in their reasons to sign up….

This 2nd year, I've had nothing come across at all.

          • @scuderiarmani: i don't understand your reply, with respect to my question.

i am only interested in "Final Value Fees".

( since, all eBay accounts should get 40 x free listings to sell, per month )

            • +3

@whyisave: Like I said, more selling offers in general, most of those are completely free final value fees…. some of those were a percentage discount… some were unlimited numbers for a period, others were 3, 5 10 etc etc….

These fees alone would have easily covered my membership outlay… I also got stiffed by having a better offer days after I signed up…. also missed many other sign up offers before too….

The whole eBay Plus thing is a disgrace. Like many things, they start of well.

They need to be consistent across the board. No different to Telstra really… dont screw some customers and reward others for no reason.

  • Maybe change the title to "List 2 items free" .. thought it was free postage

  • +6

I've been selling items on scumtree for a few years now and my god you come across some of the biggest bunch of morons, imbeciles and time wasters.

    • Facebook Marketplace has started going down the same track I feel!
I thought with Gumtree, you had people hiding behind anonymity but now they're using full profiles and being stupid

    • There's a great thread on Whirlpool…..

    • Facebook marketplace has it's own set of window lickers.

It all happened when people over 35 in age and under 35 IQ got allowed on the internet, really.

    • Is it still available?

    • +1

      Right?

Me: selling new $70 item, in original shrink-wrapped box. Still selling for $70 in the shops. Asking $20.

Them: will you take $5. !!

Or: will you take $10 and bring it up on the train to Perth. !!!

      :P

  • It tells you that you can do this after each time you list an item on gumtree. How can people not know about it?

    • +3

Personally, I don't even bother listing on Gumtree as I don't care to deal with offers of a gold coin and some cotton buds with wax.

    • -6

It's a slow deal day. I know, let's look at successful expired deals. Instead of asking mods to change original post to long running its better to get internet points and validation by relisting.

  • +1

I've been using this for a while, great way to sell high value items

  • If my listing ends in 30days and auto renews from Ebay and sells, do I get charged for final fee's?
Do best offers sells work for this promo if I post through gumtree? Or do I get charged final fee's?

    • +1

Yes you will if it renews. It's a different listing number.

      Best offer is fine.

      • Thanks. I will make sure to post through gumtree again when I get close to the auto renew date. Cheers

        • +1

Just turn off auto renewal in the meantime.

          • @scuderiarmani: How do I do that?

            • @Alaken: I know the ebay app and website often change their selling layout, and causes all sorts of other mess like best offer by default… But it's usually towards the end.

Sorry can't say exactly, I've tried to refrain from selling on ebay, Facebook seems the better option these days…. Even if that has huge issues in itself.

              • @scuderiarmani: Ok no worries. Thanks the advice anyway. Cheers

                • @Alaken: I just tried a listing on the Android app, and again looks different… Hopefully it's still an option.

          • +1

@scuderiarmani: They have removed that option now.
            Have to manually cancel it.
I have found enabling the seller hub makes selling alot easier to manage and list

Uses eBay… 'Meh, I can save myself the eBay fees by selling on Gumtree'

Uses Gumtree… Lists item that will sell for $100 all day for $80. Gets offer 'Will you take $30?'

    CAN'T BLOODY WIN!

    • +1

      Will you take $20?
I'll pay cash and pick up today.

      • +1

$15 but you need to bring it to me.

      • +2

arrives the next day without warning
"Sorry I'm late, my pet goldfish died, so now I've only got $5 on me. Can I still buy it?"

  • I used the function 2 times and all items are sold through gumtree.

  • +4

I used this promo and sold a $1000 item and a $3700 item. When I logged in I had $500 in outstanding fees showing.

I hopped onto eBay chat and got it cleared up in 5 minutes. Pleasantly surprised!

  • +4

I use this all the time. Be aware that they sometimes still charge you the final value and then you need to call up and most of the agents don't know about the offer. So take a screenshot of the offer on gumtree each time.

    • Agree - I've been caught out on this before

  • Does this work with auctions or only buy it now items?

  • Going to sell my watches. Thanks

  • Even more reason to sell my pre-loved toilet papers

  • +3

TA said my name. I'll treasure this moment forever.

    • +3

Thanks for the original post. It was a great find :)

  • Thank you for posting

  • Not working for me at the moment.

    "Well, this is embarrassing.
We're sorry, but the quick listing tool isn't working just at the moment. Please try again later."

EDIT: It appeared as a draft on this page, where I was able to complete the listing: https://www.ebay.com.au/sl/sell?sr=wnstart

    • I got the same today when I tried to list. Ended up with lots of drafts because I kept trying. Listed from a draft anyway and am 99% sure I'll have to dispute the FVF.

      • I'm getting the same error too. Did you end up selling the item on ebay and then having to dispute the FVF?

  • I have been using this deal but am seeing if others had any experience in using it that may help to answer a question. I had to cancel a listing on the request of the buyer. Can i sell another listing for free or does ebay count the cancelled listing as one of the two free ones I am allowed?

    • +1

Assume no but chat with eBay and they might waive the fees.

  • So with this deal can you list an item on eBay as an auction or only as buy it now, also does it have to be local pickup only or can you set it to delivery?

    • I have used it with buyitnow and delivery.

  • Great deal, thanks OP!

  • Anyone know if its two per ebay account or two per gumtree account?
