      • LOL. If not infected and then walk by?

  • These lights are so handy. I've got a few of the non motion version, still awesome.

Can't checkout thru Pay Pal (tried 2 browsers), receive blank screen when hit Payment (to go to PP)….tried 3 times??!!

    • Make sure both your delivery/home address and Paypal address are same same, happened to me to last year.

Thanks - they were identical, it may have been that I wanted more than the store had (even though it said "in stock" or switching browsers????) Changed to a 3rd browser & reduced order 5 to 4 and went thru, later when I went to add another 1 it wouldn't let me past order screen (even though it said "in stock").

(added on edit) like hahayes below, have confirmation email but nothing in orders.

  • i got a confirmation email but under order history it says i've made no orders? hopefully it's gone through

  • Thanks OP. Got 10 and few other $2 ones as well. Ready for pick up.

    • What are you going to do with 10 of them?

      • +2

No joke; i once made a maxwell smart hallway type effect with 10+ of another brand. Totally worth it.

I grabbed one of these today. Wasn't expecting much for $2, but wow, it is surprisingly bright for such a small unit. Will come in handy im sure.

I got one today for the garage. Surprisingly bright an motion works from about 4 metres. Not bad for $2.

I don't know what this is, but I bought two!

  • Ordered five. Could be handy to put inside cupboards

  • Cheers got 6 of them for the shed. Wonder if they can take the odd splatter of rain if positioned under awning.

    • I think your problem will be general rusting from the air than actual rain/splashing.

I have a powerbank stuck you the inside of my front screen door to power some LEDs - all well under cover of a porch area - and the keyring on it is still rusting.

For people wondering about the power usage I just measured the difference in current between my existing puck lights (like Xiaomi Yeelight knock-off) and one of these.

    Puck light: ~55mA
    SCA light: ~215mA

As you would've seen these are far, far bright ofcourse. But the batteries will go flat 4x quicker so if you have options this might just be overkill (like if you only need a little bit for the hallway).

These are 4x cheaper though :P. Can't go wrong!

    • Thanks dufflover, very handy to know and makes complete sense having seen these.

Can confirm that these (the motion sensor ones I got - can't comment on others) are lights rather than the night-light glow of the Xiaomi/Blitzwolf "puck" lights prev seen here on OzB….in fact so bright that I dislike them shining straight at eyes as too bright for that. IMHO the motion sensor is weaker peripherally that the Xiaomi but better than the Blitzwolf (whose sensor, peripherally, I find disappointing, light on the B is better though than X).

These have a perceptibly longer run time on auto - in fact you could almost say a well considered runtime. Can be switched to off/always on, as well.

Battery replacement should be pretty easy as the "ball" where the batteries are is magnetically attached to the base so simple to just pluck the "ball" from where the base is attached and swap - easy to get at the battery caddy as well as the twist apart is not overly stiff. Then just plonk the ball back on the base and let the magnet "grab" it. *Note AAA batteries (comes with 3 normal batts which are probably poor quality but is a nice thought as usable straight off) so a bit uncommon - I would say get good rechargeables that hold their charge so have more than you need and simply swap them in instantly.

No hook, but will attach magnetically to metal.

In short, with the caveat that durability is an unknown, these are a damn good buy at $2 IMHO (factor in battery costs long term as well).

    • Do they both have the same amount of LEDs? I guess you could disable some on the SCA to reduce the draw.

      • Someone before posted 20 LEDs. Sounds like a bit of effort to do that. More worthwhile mod would be to try reducing the voltage and see how dim they can go, or rigging up a port to run off say a powerbank or lipo instead.

I do regret not buying more to muck around with.

These are pretty bright, especially for $2
I use them in my garage, so when I come home 2 of these go off and give me enough light to walk do my door etc

    Any recommendations for rechargeable batts?

    • Looking for battery recommendations also!

IKEA AAAs. NiMH (basically eneloops). Aldi used to do a similar capacity AAA as well.

  • Bought some . Pretty good for the price. Wanted to wall mount but the base is not equipped for that. Base may need some holes added.

    • Put a screw in the wall with a washer/ bottle top. Alternatively you could 3m/ tape a washer to the wall.

  • Just picked mine up.

Can’t seem to activate with “motion”

I have it switched to “Auto”
    And I Missing something?

Other than that, love the ball shape and magnetic base!
Handy like a torch if need be. Will need to mount the base into something

Auto won't work when it's daylight.

      • Ah that explains it! Thanks!

  • Picked 3 of these up yesterday and they work brilliantly (and gave me a usage for my $5 credit they gave me). Sadly most stock seems to be gone now or else would have picked up a few for the old boy as well.

  • Just bought 4 before they're all gone.

  • Anyone used this batteries before, any good?

  • Put some up today. Work very well. Wide sensor coverage. Bright enough.

  • Does anyone know where you can get the mounting bracket* for these lights (if there's one even sold separately)?

*There's 3 slots on the back, and a lock/unlock symbol.
