And yet the rep has decided not to mention this important information anywhere in his post or title (at the time of writing this comment)…

  • Hi Th123
Shipping costs vary depending on postcode. They can vary alot

    • +1

      alot indeed.

How is this a remotely competitive price point? Do you think people are going to pay a 4x premium for larger plates and a brand name?

    • +2

      Larger plates? They're standard.

      • +3

Bumper plates are significantly more expensive than cast iron. But I guess you’re not really a gym goer if you’ve never seen or heard of them.

Having said that, there are cheaper bumper plate options out there such as NC fitness.

        • -2

I know what a bumper plate is, I'm just pointing out that the value is crap compared to steel and iron sets. People in a home gym typically aren't going to obsess over this as they're not going to be changing their weights as often.

          • @jasswolf: I change the plates at practically every set.

            • @[Deactivated]: Congratulations on being the person I am not describing!

              • @jasswolf: Thanks. It is something I have worked hard for. :)

…but seriously, most people I know do the same. There is no point in keeping the same weights on if you're making the set easily or failing. That's just ineffecient training.

          • @jasswolf: The more you talk the more I get a sense of how little you know.

Still, assuming the bar is ~$200 and say $50 bucks for the lock collars that's about $5.50/kg for the bumper plates which is a bit pricey ($4/kg is standard, particularly for larger plates). Postage really kills it unless you can pickup locally.

    • -1

You say "larger" plates, so I'm guessing you're not a gym goer? I can't speak for the quality of this particular brand but for an olympic bar and bumper plates you'd expect to pay this much on the LOWER end. There's no way you're going to be doing any crossfit/olympic lifting with a weight set from aldi, nor would it be ideal for any powerlifting.

  • +1

Isn't this just your regular packaged price? Not really a deal.

  • +2

    What a rip off.

  • I guess if you need a new set and care about the brand .. this is slightly cheaper.

I wouldn't call it a bargain.. and most home gym won't use these

  • At my local you can get an 86" 20kg black handle bar and 100kg of bumper plates for $614, no bundle deal required.

    • Bar's only rated for 220kg but honestly if you're doing anything with > 240kg lifts you're not looking at the package in the OP.

      • Once you go texas bar, you never want to go back ;)

    mo reps mo problems

  • Logged in just to neg. 80kg plates (4x15, 2x10) cost me $150 delivered. Another 20kg + a barbell is $900? What???

    Also:
    1pr x 5kg + 1pr x 10kg + 1pr x 15kg + 1pr x 20kg = 100kg 50kg

    • You don't understand what a pair (pr) means?

      • I didn't know what pr meant, and the notation was inconsistent "150kg package adds 2 x 25kg bumper plates" so I wasn't sure if it was a mistake.

Doesn't really matter as no one is going to be buying it.

        • You didn't get 80kg bumper plates for 150 delivered either.

  • If on a budget the Aldi plates when they're for sale are decent enough.
