  • Great deal but now that they are all available in 4K Atmos on Disney Plus, I'm less tempted to grab the physical copies.

if you have the set up for it, then enjoy.
but for the rest of us, a 4K disc is infinitely better than a choppy compressed stream.

      • +2

4k Blurays might have 4 times the bitrate of a streamed 4k (so called Web-DL in pir8 jargon). You definitely notice banding artifacts on walls and in the skies at streaming quality bitrates. 4k Blurays contain 50 to 100 GB of data.

4k Bluray is the epitome of consumer video quality, sort of like SACD is for music.

      • I own a ton of 4K blurays, and I agree there is a difference, but it's not infinitely better.
I guess I'm just prioritizing what are worth buying and what aren't.

      • I have compared 4K disc to streaming for multiple movies and 4K wins hands down every time if you have a good system.
Both the picture and audio are noticeably better on disk (no banding, HDR and surround sound detail improved).
Streaming is fine if you just have an average TV and a sound bar as the difference will be minimal on these setups.

  • These aren't real 4k are they? I'll just go with the blu ray.

    • +5

They aren't from a 4K DI, but they have: HDR, WCG, and Dolby Atmos which the standard blu-rays don't have.

      Put the drugs down

Maybe it’s a serious case of game brain?

    • +1

I want to know which avenger was keeping the world's network infrastructure going and continuing to work on fortnite

You do realise there were still people on Earth, right?

      • Yeah but Thanos only left alive people with an IQ under 80.

Oh wait that is more than half the population.

        • +2

So…. he just decided to leave a guy like Bruce Banner around, for fun ??

    • people are working on fortnite?

Its hard to smash when your significant other has vapourised.

Saw this yesterday, but no 3d. I have the others in 3d so not sure why this isn't available?

    • +1

The print runs for 3D titles are getting smaller and they can charge a premium now it’s a niche product. Toy Story 4 didn’t even get an Aus release in 3D; Europe only afaik.

    • +2

Ordered the 3D versions of endgame and captain marvel from zavvi.com they have 2 for £18 at the moment and are region B, work here no issues.. atleast completed my 3D set for phase 1/2/3. Also you can get the incredible hulk in 4k to complete 4k phase 1/2/3.. :) hope it helps..

    • -2

      3D…yuck.

  • What the quality difference like - streaming in HD with Disney+ versus blu-ray - both sound and vision?

Still rocking a gorgeous 50" plasma - with a 5.1 home theater sound setup.

    • You need a bigger screen my man

      • I know - I absolutely do, but I still LOVE my jap-made Panasonic plasma and don't want to put it out to pasture because it's still a brilliant picture and I'll never have another plasma.

I'm thinking of moving the 50" plasma to the bedroom and then that will free me up to get a decent-sized 4K panel in the main living space :)

Have watched so many OLED deals come and go…

    • Still rocking a gorgeous 50" plasma - with a 5.1 home theater sound setup

I have the exact same setup! Thinking about 4K? I don’t know if I can justify the expense of a new screen and new player.

      • Yeah, I'll definitely pull the pin at some point (see my comment above) - and my Xbox One X will do 4K disc playback so no need for an extra player.

  • told myself i wouldn't buy anymore blurays..

Why is Brie front and centre on the cover

    • +5

      Ran out of camembert?

  • How do you get the Blu Ray Infinity War for $8.79? It shows up as $15.2 for me..

    • +1

I'm wondering how OP got 2 for $30. tried to charge me $20 each at checkout

      • +1

2 for A$ 30 on selected 4K titles offered by Amazon AU. Promotion will be applied in cart. Offer expires at 11:59 PM (AEDT) on March 31, 2020.

        • Yep that's what I got on the 4K titles but no go on just the blu ray:(

  • Anything else in the deal? Already have Infinty War …

  • +6

Amazon make this FAR harder to find than they need to, but here's the full list of 2 for $30 movies. Some cracker deals in here, plenty of new releases too

Still sh*ts me that Disney gives US customers digital copies with their physical media purchases whilst basically telling us to go **** ourselves and pay again for the digital copy if we want it.

    • +4

yep! annoys me to no end that a big chunk of bluray/4k physical copies dont come with digital copies anymore in Australia.
i refuse to buy any physical copies w/o digital copies….voting with my wallet!

      • +2

where as I actively avoid buying disc/digital combo packs because I never ever redeem the codes. and then I'm left with that banner on the front case

        • +2

hmm 4k/bluray combos also have banners on the front of the case :p

why wouldnt you redeem the codes? they stay in your account forever and are portable

          • @flapthemwings: I don't buy any of the combo packs really. if I have the 4K disc & player, why would I want to watch the Blu-Ray instead. but to each their own

            • +1

@BargainEnjoyer2022: id watch 4k at home, but when i go away for a holiday with the kids, id bring a chromecast along and those digital copies come in handy when keeping the kids entertained/occupied :)

  • -1

    People still use discs?

    • +5

Of course. They offer the best quality picture and audio and is not subject to the whims of your ISP/network.

      • +5

        … and when you're short of $$
… or when the streaming service loses it's licensing from the studio or simply doesn't want to show that movie any more…

  • Is it a combo deal? The link only for one movie (End Game) now.
