  • I've had the headband on my Beyerdynamic headphones become sticky over the course of a few years. I've just noticed a not-so-useful thread at Head-Fi that confirms this happens, and another thread where they discuss a headband cover. There's one available at Amazon.

    • Thanks for the link & input.

I am aware that most Beyerdynamic’s have a removable / replaceable headband cover (either clip-on or velcro).

      • Hmm, I think the headbands are different.

        Hopefully, newer = better.

  • +1

Optimal equiliser settings for these headphones: https://github.com/jaakkopasanen/AutoEq/tree/master/results/…

  • I have had my Beyers for close to 10 years. Fantastic quality and sound. Mine are the DT 990 Pro. Headband is leather and worn like a well looked after leather boot. Highly recommend

  • These are headphones I'm tempted by (due to price, and they were once flagship), but every opinion I've read on the interwebs has been less than favourable. For similar money, I'd be more inclinded to go with the Custom One Studio, Sennheiser 6xx, or Hifiman HE4xx.

    • +2

The Sennheiser HD58X is also an option for those who are happy to do some basic mods, but both Sennheisers are now sold exclusively in AU by Addicted to Audio, and they've just gone through a 2 month sales run of them, so they're probably waiting for another shipment before dropping prices back down again.

The HE4XX are on sale at USD $140 + delivery at the moment (plus $20 off for new users on Drop), so that might be a good buy for those who aren't interested in dabbling with other models from China.
