The true successor to SimCity 4.

  • -3

In before the usual SimCity 4 Boomer vs Cities Skylines Zoomer argument.

    • +8

Simcity 4 was released in 2003 not the 60s lol

  • Cant seem to checkout, website stops loading at checkout.
    Great find otherwise OP

    • same issue here: HTTP ERROR 500

Edit: I just refreshed the page and it processed the payment… very strange!

    • +1

I had the same issue using chrome, so I tried Mozilla and it worked.

    • +1

If only buying DLC, at the checkout click "keep" on the purple boxes that remind you that you need the main game for the DLC to work. After that the payment should go through.

      • +1

Wow games and all DLC is close to 100AUD.

        • Yeah I'm waiting for them to maybe release like a complete or legacy edition in like 10 years.

No rush for me just would be nice to own all the dlc for when I'm retired lol.

        • A lot of those DLCs aren’t considered essential, some are just radio stations. I bought 7 DLCs that are considered bigger ones and it came out to $40 aud.

        • Yep, welcome to Paradox's business plan! They do the same with all their games

Add "pcgames5off" coupon for first time buyers for an additional 5% off thanks

    • "Coupons not allowed on this product"

      • It worked for me last night, they must have disallowed it now

    • This actually worked for me, so thank you.

  • green cities and mass transit are probably the only good dlc, rest are optional

    • I've been waiting for a sale to finally pick up those 2.

Personally, my first and only dlc so far is park life, which I knew I would enjoy most after watching some videos on it.

    cheaper at cdkeys.com

  • Thanks OP. Bought x 1

  • Damn, the DLCs were all 75% off earlier but now they've lowered the discounts on pretty much everything.

  • Was 75% off for the main DLCs, now 60%.

    • +1

      Changed again… now 65%…

  • Your order must be manually reviewed and processed by our staff. This process will be completed shortly. We apologize for this delay!

  • Traffic simulator

  • How's the traffic ai on these? Last I played was at release without DLCs. The traffic simulation was quite bad (YouTube demonstrations demonstrated the weaknesses).

    How is it now?

    • +1

      Use TMPE?

      • I had to Google that.

        Any good?

        • Apparently it's the gold stadard in traffic improvements. Sadly not compatible with the Game Pass version though - I find it suprisingly faster to play with than KB+M on PC - which the standard version isn't compatible with.

          • @Switchblade88: Game Pass version?

Not familiar with these terms (fkn hell, you people make me feel ancient).

            • +2

@[Deactivated]: There's two versions of Cities Skylines - the standard win32 version like most Steam apps, and then the 'Windows 10 Edition' which is the backported copy of the 'Xbox One Edition'. These two are UWP apps.

If you've paid for the Xbox UWP version, you get the Windows equivalent for free - this applies over many games, including Astroneer, Minecraft, Master Chief Collection etc. Thus, if you have Game Pass PC you get the rights to these versions, downloaded through the Xbox app or Windows Store - i.e. Not through Steam or Chrome etc.

However, because they're UWP apps, everything is locked down by Windows and you can't even look at the program files, let alone mods them or copy them.

              • @Switchblade88: I have it on steam on my PC. I bought it at release.

                What do I have?

(Lol. You made me more confused.)

                • +4

@[Deactivated]: Not trying to make you confused, sorry! Lol

Steam version = moddable. Definitely get the traffic mod!

                    @Switchblade88: Thank you.

It's a night and day difference . With TMPE and roundabout builder mod, my traffic flow goes from 40% to 80%. Not sure what game pass is. Mods can be easily downloaded from steam workshop.

    • It's still bad and hasn't improved really. Might be some mods for it but can't say.

    • Was the weakness in the city infrastructure design?

      • Not really. It is the ai routing.

Heaps of videos on YouTube demonstrating the logical flaws, ie. Taking straightest line vs slightly curved even if it is a dirt road vs highway.

  • I fell in love with the game and had it installed recently via the Xbox PC Game Pass. The 3 month trial will end soon though and I am not planning on extending it. Does anyone know if I can somehow move my game progress across if purchased through these guys? And if yes then how? Cheers.

    • Unfortunately there's no compatibility between the win32 and UWP versions; you can't even access the gamesave location

      • I managed to access the game's location but I can't find any file that is responsible for storing the progress. Oh well… It's probably wiser to build a new city with more hospitals… 🙈🙈🙈

  • Brilliant city builder game.

  • i paid $11 just a couple days ago for this + Parklife DLC bundle at CDKeys. Can anyone recommend any other DLC? I'm just getting started with the game..

edit: in case anyone else is interested in the parklife edition

All the non-music\creator content ones add something to gameplay. I think Industries is a great piece of DLC, very similar in style to Parklife with the progression and unlocks. We want to give our people jobs don't we?

If you're into workshop content then you're likely playing around with transport so Mass Transit is pretty important as many transport content/mods require this. It might be worth just looking around the workshop, picking out mods and assets that you're interested in and see what DLC they require (if any) then make the call on whether you its worthwhile getting the DLC.

  • Does anyone else have problems paying with paypal?

    • Worked for me - I had US$ balance available tho.
