Singapore Airlines Waiving Certain Rebooking Fees

260

You will need to click on the "here" link under Travel Waiver Policies to access the .pdf for the full information, but below is the guts of it:

Singapore Airlines is waiving all rebooking fees for tickets issued on or before 15 March
2020, for travel up to 31 May 2020, with immediate effect. Customers can cancel their
existing flight itineraries, retain the value of their tickets and rebook their travel at a later
date, when they are able to firm up their new travel plans. The new flight itinerary should
be completed by 31 March 2021.

This new policy will allow customers the flexibility to defer their travel plans and applies to
all bookings for travel up to 31 May 2020. All rebooking fees will be waived, although a
fare difference may apply for the new itinerary.

SIA will continue to review its waiver policy and retains the flexibility to extend the cut-off
date of 31 May 2020 as it assesses the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak on global air travel
in the coming weeks. For all new SIA and SilkAir tickets issued from now to 31 March 2020,
SIA will also waive change fees.

  • I just cancelled my RTW Krisflyer Award booking last night, got the generic email saying they'll contact me to take the cancellation fee. Wonder if this waiver will hold for award bookings?

    • Probably not IMHO.

  • Thanks OP could not be happier with Singapore Airlines Waiving Certain Rebooking Fees, now what would make me a lot happier if only I can get through to BYO Jet who I booked the flights with.

    • My recent lesson learned is to avoid using OTAs unless significantly cheaper. Airlines treat you like trash if you don't book direct with them. They won't even give you the time of the day.

Use the OTA to get pricing, and then book direct. Being able to deal with the airline directly saves you a lot of time by avoiding the middle man.

      • In these trying time Yes I agree with you, although I have had great experience booking with OTA's a number of times.
Flights are not due till the middle of May with return being end of June. At this stage flights have not been cancelled by Singapore Airlines so I have a bit of time up my sleeve and will wait and see what comes out in the future.
If you see any News in regards to Singapore Airlines please let me know.

Flying into Athens at the end of July… Fingers crossed that all is well by then but not holding my breath, otherwise I'll be hoping they extend this offer a little bit…

  • How is this a deal? Needs to be a forum post.

  • Re-booking fee only waived if you travel before May 2020 though

    • First paragraph - new itinerary completed by 31 March 2021.

      • I have may/June 2020 flights booked, but they won't extend me to may/June 2021. Who wants to fly to Europe in February?

Hope you guys have better luck.

I cancel my ticket to early March, booked the ticket for $680 but only refund about $120 AUD. Would not buy another ticket with Singapore Airline.

    • Nearly $3k in fares for me and they'll only refund $247!
