Sennheiser PXC 550 Bluetooth Headphones $239.95 (+ Delivery $5.95 or Free C&C) @ Harvey Norman

100

Long time watcher, first time poster … not the biggest fan of Gerry but might be a deal for someone.

Outdated model of Sennheiser PXC 550 Bluetooth Headphones for $239.95 @ Harvey Norman which are Bluetooth V4.2 (superseded by Sennheiser PXC 550-II which are Bluetooth V5 and seem to retail > $500) not my cup of tea as they apparently don't support AAC, ergo probably not a great buy for any Apple Fans.

Reviews of them are generally pretty good. They have been cheaper …

I have a pair of these myself. Paid around $500 a couple of years or so ago. Excellent sound, Outstanding noise cancellation. In my opinion of course, I'm sure others will disagree.

    • Hehe, today there are far better options. I got a pair for $280 in 2016. Imo not worth the money back then, and not worth the money now.

If you aren't fussy about sound, comfort, latency or controls, these are fine. Sennhesier aren't very good at making comfortable headbands for some reason. You can buy 3rd party clip ons but they look terrible. Perhaps okay if you only use it for a few hours at most. Sound is very distant with an emphasis on BASS. Controls are typical sennheiser also, which is to say not intuitive pretty annoying. XM3 or QC35 are obviously better choices.

Interesting, I got it for roughly that price around that time too… Emphasis on bass? Are we listening to the same headphones because I got these because they weren't overly bassy. They sounded better than the q35 and closer to the sound profile of the sonys.

I found these to fit better than both the Sony and Q35. I also found the q35 noise cancellation to be overbearing (but worked better) and the sound more muddled.

The Sony's at the time had better noise cancellation but I much preferred the sound of the pxc 550, and being able to connect to more than one device. It even came in handy connecting via USB to listen to music.

The latency is not an issue as they seemed similar across all models that were out at the time. I still use it and don't have a problem with it.

No issue with the control frustration you've had… Swipe back and forward for new songs, hold to fast forward. Double tap to get transparent hearing. If you've used the sonys they are very similar.

If there was one thing I don't like, it's the voice calls. Don't bother using these to call people when your out and about.

Well worth the price and longevity I got out of them but the new Sony's and Bose are better due to obvious reasons but depends if the better noise cancellation, BT5, USB C and the higher cost are worth it
