Email order (must pick up on 10/09)

why can't you make it Fridays like your earlier deals… i can't get to your store on weekends…

    • +8

Well I can't make it on Fridays, along with most people with corporate jobs. Perhaps MSY is targeting that reasonably well paid market segment?

      • Well I can't make it on Fridays, along with most people with corporate jobs.

i have a corporate job… Nth Melb is 5 mins by train from Southern Cross station… i usually go during lunch…

  • +1

These little wireless adapters are great - got one last time.

    • +2

the $5 ones… i got one too… i think this one has better specs though.. for the rich toffs who can afford $10… :P

Don't bother with MSY and their deals - I ordered and received 2 confirmation emails for the Samsung 2.5" 1 tb external hard drive.. Dear Customer:
    Cheltenham have item in stock.
Your order number is 600 , reserve 2 days for you. If you need me extend the reservation days, just let me know.
    Best Regards

Traveled all the way there next day and took the email to be told sorry 'system' error no stock! And from what I read this is a common occurance. BAD customer service and experience MSY!!

    • +3

to be told sorry 'system' error no stock!

'system' error means they sold your order to another customer…

    • I disagree. I bought the USB network adaptor and SDHC card deals last time without any problems. Ordered the night before then picked it up the next day.

      • i didn't have any problems last time either, but it doesn't mean that everyone gets good service… obviously from previous posts it's a bit hit or miss and depends on the store whether you get good service or not…

        • +2

I frequently buy from MSY and I've actually never run into a problem with them; though this is mostly due to doing my research/calling to confirm stock and partly due to luck. I bought 2 of the products advertised on OzB without issue. I should also give the Malvern branch some credit because they were actually quite accomodating on a few occasions, which you wouldn't expect after hearing all the stories on bad customer service.

      • If you have no problems in 10 out of 10 purchases your comment is valid but in one purchase it is probably not enough to tell their bad service. I used to be a loyal customer after I found out they are one of the cheapest in town but after I got pissed off in 8 out 10 purchases I swore I will never go back again.

    • I remember reading something about msy getting slugged with a hefty fine from the ACCC for not accepting returns recently.

      • you would see they have a "ACCC on warranty" things on a piece of A4 printed paper on every stores I been to…

they have been fined and now following what they must do, so not a problem!

      • oh so that's whats been happening, I was asking pcdiy about their warranty and they were giving out the full 1 year too, excellent job ACCC

      • +1

I had such experience that I bought a harddisk enclosure from them but the cable is not working. I asked them to test and work out the return but their response is "you don't know how to use an enclosure". What a joke, I was working in another computer shop at the time I bought that enclosure and I have had assembled more than 100 PCs.

  • is this works for WA store too?

    • +4

      whys wouldnts its?

  • Just ordered one of each, great prices! Just hope the lines aren't too long on Saturday morning at Auburn ;o)

    • hi, sorry new to msy - to send your order through you just email them now? or are you meant to go through their website?

  • i have problem with MSY too..they take very long to post your order…but email you very quick for payment transfer….

    • Huh, they don't do delivery yet? (Still under construction)

      • Huh, they don't do delivery yet?

you're asking for a bit much now aren't you?

do you think it's easy for a store that's been around as long as MSY has, to have a delivery service ???

        • +1

The reason they are cheap is because their margins are razor thin. Delivery increases the margins therefore - no delivery.

        • +1

          Delivery increases the margins

          you'd think they'd want more deliveries then…

        • Lols, I was actually being critical of sehsenlee's comment, "i have problem with MSY too…they take very long to post your order…but email you very quick for payment transfer…"

Therefore if they don't yet deliver, how is this valid??

  • Anyone want to buy me a SSD for my birthday on the Saturday :)?

  • +3

While i appreciate their special offer, I HATE the fact that i need to email them and "hope" they will respond me…

Seriously, this is 2011.. catch up already….you need a MUCH BETTER ordering system for the special!

    I am getting one still~lol

    • I emailed about 20 mins ago and got a reply after 45 seconds.

Keep in mind they are still open in WA though.

      • what email do you send to? Do you send to store specific email?

        • +1

          yep

  • Sounds good, I'll grab one…..Belkin that is.

  • Anyone know the chipset of the belkin?

  • Is there actually a MSY store in Brooklyn? Last time somebody said they picked up an item from there. Looking at the full list I can't actually find any store located in Brooklyn.

    • Oh never mind. Found out the Brooklyn branch is actually the Altona North Branch. So you are located in Brooklyn but your official name is the Altona North Branch? What is the purpose of that?

  • can some one tell if it can be used in WD LIVE?

    • it's on the list

      • I know it is on the list but don't know if it's V1 version?

  • Think I'll pass on this one. Why must the Belkins be so huge? The Asus one is oh so small!

  • Sorry dupe. Same question as firehifi.

    Thanks.

  • I'd also like to know if it's V1 or V2 for the WD TV Live. I'll take a chance though and pick one up anyways.

  • No delivery?

    • No delivery with MSY, pickup only at the moment. Delivery "coming soon" apparently.

  • +1

Not bother to try MSY anymore. Most of time nothing left in stock except their terrible attitude.

  • Ok, picked mine up this morning, can confirm they work perfectly on the WD TV Live.

    • what time was that because i was at the Aurban branch before lunchtime and they had printouts explaining the $10 wifi things were sold out.

Did that apply to walk-in customers only or even to those that ordered online because i wasn't even gonna try and wait in that line to be told it is sold out even though i pre-ordered online.

I think i might neg the next msy post just in spite!

      • I went in first thing this morning (Adelaide CBD store) when it opened at 10:30 am. Buying two was not a drama as that is how many I had on order from my original purchase order last thursday.

I have no idea if it applied to walk-in or pre-order, I was first in the shop so didn't see anyone else. I pre-ordered. But I don't think people were really lining up for these.

But if you pre-order two online then you should GET two when you walk in.

      • Anyone from Aurban branch get theirs after 11:30am??

        • Yes, I did. Pre-ordered Thursday and purchased 2 Belkins at 12 noon Saturday from MSY Auburn without problem. The staff had put away my order on a special shelf, so the "sold-out" signs were for the walk-in customers only.

No sign of MSY's "VIP Express pre-order queue" and so had to line up with everyone else. Excluding the queueing (about 10 minutes), my transaction was completed in 1 minute.

  • Limited 2 per customer

…. but i'm not allowed to buy 2. ACCC !!!

    • I ordered two, got confirmation for that order, and collected them today. Who said you weren't allowed to buy two?

      • the guy with a glasses at MSY Balcatta

  • Got mine about 2pm. Had ordered online. No queue at Mitcham. Ver 1000au on box.

    • Mine is also Ver 1000au and works prefectly on the WD TV Live. In fact even solved my problem of streaming 1080p movies which occasionally stutter with certain movies.
