I was looking for a first 3d printer. This one was listed in the best 3d printers from a ZDnet article: https://www.zdnet.com/article/best-3d-printers/

It's a smaller format printer (120mm x 120mm x 120mm).

I ordered yesterday & it was delivered today (w/ Amazon Prime).

RRP USD$219.99

Everyone should buy this and help print out life-saving respirator valves

    Can it print toilet paper?
    Sorry everyone

Not sure about tp but you can definitely print the 3 shells. Or perhaps even a hand bidet!

      • +1

Still wish I knew how to use the three shells…

  • Did it come flat pack? How much work did it take to get it going?

    • +1

Pre assembled and you need to level the bed and off you go.

  • +1

Good printer just bought it too but had to get it refunded as I got the infamous bed rewiring issue within two days.

Check the solder joints and the wire and it looks good though so could be the smd temp sensor that is failing but didn’t want to deal with this on a new printer.

tldr you should get the bed rewired since issue will start occurring sooner or later as you may or may not have have read.

Now that I know I like 3d printing time to get a bigger one anyway!

    • What are you using it for?

      • Mostly for my other hobby mechanical keyboard hand wired stuff.

        Home automation DIY arduino stuff.

        Toys for the toddler.

        • What toys are you making for your toddler? I'm asking because it could be a choking hazard since what you make may be unregulated.

          Just be careful.

          • @brotherfranciz: He is almost 4 so I guess pretty much not a toddler. And they are bigger then his mouth like half the size of his face.

He loves things like eggs, planets, stars, flowers just random figurine and painting them.

        • What keyboard stuff are you printing that fits in 120mm^3? I've been using the local makerspace printers to print plates and cases, and even the smallest of those I've done has been ~200mm on the longest edge.

          • @Bonding0909: Well I only use 50% split or smaller so I was planning to slice it in half and glue the cases together.

But then I had to return it so never got the chance to do any keyboard parts as I had spend the week I had it printing parts for it and the lack enclosure.

But yeah getting one a lot bigger ( > 20cm so I can make a dactyl case) just haven’t quite decided which one while I wait for the refund to come through.

    • Which new you would go for?

      • I’m gonna get a flsun q5 is a delta printer not your usual Cartesian printer.

    • Is this the kind of thing you're referring to: https://www.pingle.org/2017/10/08/rewiring-the-heated-bed-on…

      • +1

        Yep that’s the one

Our wiring has been upgraded (different to the image on that site) but it still happens.

  • +2

Great deal, good find OP :)

  • how much more you need to invest before you can print a thing from this printer?

    • A spool of pla filament.

      • do you need a paid software?

        • +1

Nope you can use open source one eg. Cura

      • Any recommendations on filament?

  • +2

Thanks for posting! I've just impulse bought one to play with during work-from-home mode.

Bought one two years ago for $230AUD. That was a great price then. This is even better. A very capable entry printer.

    • Have you had the wiring problem, thanks.

      • No, never knew it was a thing. Might be a v2 issue? All I gather it is some bad soldering on the assembly line. Easily fixed if so.

    • And in general how do you find the reliability or longevity of this?

Might be a nice relatively cheap way to dabble with 3D printing (finally).

      • +1

It's a small, ready-to-go set up, good features and handy to pump out a model relatively quickly. Compact to store and bring out when you want to use it. I haven't had anything break or wear out. I had an extruder jam after changing filament once, but you learn how to disassemble and service parts relatively quickly. These sort of problems occur on all types of printers. This is a great entry level printer.

  • How expensive is the material to feed those printers?

    • -1

They average around $30/kg, some materials are more expensive and some less expensive.

  • +2

    $129.99 for Prime members

    • Thanks. I was able to cancel my order from last night and buy again at the reduced price.

    • +1

I think the new price is for non-prime too. Deal title should be updated!
Amazon customer service wouldn't refund me the price drop difference, so I just cancelled and reordered since it hadn't shipped yet.

      • Thanks, I just cancelled and reordered as well!

    • +1

New price is tempting me to order another one…

  • Can you print out Warhammer Models / figurines??

    Asking for a friend.

  • Good price for those of us looking to try out 3D printing. Reviews seem ok, just need to check the bed wiring (see youtube for fixes). Hopefully can pimp out some boardgames with figures or furniture.
    Thanks OP, have ordered.

    • I got this delivered yesterday. They updated the wiring so it no longer appears to be an issue. It connects to the middle of the bed now and is wrapped in a plastic sheath.

There is no longer any contact with the chassis.

      • Just be weary as mine is the new wiring too and the issue occur after 2 days of usage.

YMMV of course as i could have been unlucky with mine.

      • Yep, just got mine a couple days back (good old 2 day delivery, thanks Amazon) and looks different, so hopefully they fixed the design in recent ones.
Seems to print ok, but only done 2 prints, and the second feels like I superglued it to the build plate. NFI how I'm supposed to get it off without strong tools or huge force (their included tool is so lame).
Really hoping this doesn't happen all the time!
