FREE Ticket to Taste of Melbourne

170

Session details Friday 16 September, 12:00 - 16:00 ONLY.

I participated in a survey and found this ticket in my inbox this morning. There is no individual barcode, so I can only imagine it can be printed as many times as you like… However I would also guess it would be best to only present one per person due to the fine print below encouraging people to purchase extra tickets.

*Please note this ticket is for general admission only and does not include Crowns or entry into the VIP Lounge
**Additional tickets and Crowns can be purchased in advance at tasteofmelbourne.com.au (Crowns can also be purchased at the event)

  • you did not mention that

everything you "taste"(eat) in there, you'll have to pay for it…..

so prepare to spend like more than $50?

    • Handy information - I've never been, but I thought it could be a good deal for someone looking for a long weekend.

  • yes I went to the sydney one it is very expensive. one bottle of pipsqueak cider cost $5 and all the plates of food are $10 minimum and very small.

but its a good chance to try foods from top restaurants

  • +1

But it does save entry fee!

  • Thx for the ticket! Too bad I can't make it during the specific time (12-4pm) :(

If you prepare to 'taste' the foods, better off to ask a friend with HSBC account, last year I spent $90 for 2 and have access to vip lounge(with unlimited drinks!) and $30/$40 of crowns.

  • Good post. I reckon this is the best time to go to avoid crowds. Now just have to take a long lunch break next Friday. Any deals on buying crowns?

  • Sorry I never been to any of these events.
    What is "crowns" anyway?
Is it some kinds of food/drink?

    • +1

      "CROWNS:
Crowns are the official Taste currency used to buy sample-size signature dishes from the restaurants and drinks at the event. 1 Crown = $1 and dishes are priced between 8-12 Crowns. Premium and HSBC VIP Tickets include 30 Crowns in the package. Additional Crowns are available to buy in advance or on the day at the Taste Banks located around the event."

They should make entry free anyways since nothing is free inside the exhibition :(

    • there is a few samples, but not many. They were even charging people to sample a tiny bit of whiskey/beer/cider! I dont know why they charge entry either, it should atleast allow you some free food.

The crown is the currency they use to buy meals. A meal costs between $8-$12.

Take a look at Ed's article

The bargain definitely isn't a cheap meal but it's a cheaper way of sampling Melbourne's hot restaurants. I've never been to the TOM but it it's like any other food shows there should be samples from cheese places, sauces, etc.

  • Hi Last year I went there. Not that much food to taste but a lot of wines. I got free tickets for last year too. I feel it's not worth to pay for entry. Of you course you get chance to taste some top end restaurant's food but potions are very small.
