  • Surprised no "what about my kids" comments.

That could be literally deadly, gatherings of one of the weakest for a meal box, could be the last meal.

    • +2

yeah I understand the good intentions but I don't think they thought this through…

      • +2

Not even that woollies etc. Hours shopping for elderly should be allowed they should at least allow home delivery for older people if not for all. We shouldn't panic but who's most likely to get it we should help them stay safest.

    • +4

Half of Merrylands will be there

    • Well yeah I think you're completely accurate, after what happened at Westfield the other time. I know it was Christmas time but still things went badly

Like above, good intentions don't always have good outcomes.

    • +6

Not really much different to Coles & Woolies between 7-8am for Community hour, collecting a large group of the most vulnerable people at one time. Anyway, can we for once just be nice to people trying to do good? Regardless of if they thought it out or not, they intended to help others and that deserves some credit too

    • It would have been better if the restaurant had arranged home delivery. Still its OK if they keep the necessary 1.5 mtr. or 4 SQM social distancing. Besides, only those seniors who are in need of the food should go.

  • +1

Better do not go there! corona virus warning!

    • I agree. Good intentions or not. This is reckless and could see serious repercussions. I lived in Greystanes Merrylands and Guildford for a long time. There will be sooooo many people here.

  • Wow! Just wow!

  • Bunnings has plenty of free boxes

  • The world is falling apart and majority elderly with chronic and disease can’t make it. Stay home and safe.

This is not worth it !!!

You have activated my trap card

Im not sure if restrictive time frame is intuitive as it can create a large gathering of persons at risk in one spot. You might wanna rethink this through. Nevertheless, thanks for the good gesture.

Just another trick out of the marketing playbook trying to get some feel-good business before the lock down.

      • +1

And you think nobody else uses this 'trick'? have you seen the list of bargain where shops handout limited amount of free item to the first X number of people? How is that any different? I don't see anybody making a ruckus about them doing it. Im not sure what your point is.

        • I mean the difference this time is people's lives are at risk, especially the target audience. But sure: "don't complain they got something for free" sentiment is strong.

          • @Top G: Which is why i said they need to rethink this through……

  • +1

I love a good curry but I'm still glad I don't live in Sydney

  • "And when you're done eating, you better unbuckle your pants. Because we'll be dancing the hora! So get ready to join hands, and polish those dancin' shoes, for we'll be twistin' round our special guests, the world-renowned Wuhan Lion Dance Troupe!"

    Is this legit?!

  • +2

    Great initiative.

I'm sure the staff handing out the boxes will have masks. Hopefully the pensioners maintain social distancing while in there.

It could be a marketing ploy or it couldn't. I tend to see the goodness in people and I'm thinking that they want to help the community at a time line this. Moreover there is no compulsion that people return to the restaurant after the pandemic has subsided

  • You will be better of delivering to vulnerable rather than asking them to visit you - it is risky for them to travel at this time.

    • +1

Delivering to them you can't upsell to their families that would be raging along with them

  • +2

    nice gesture, nice authentic food.

  • +1

A change from dog food our poor pensioners have resorted too.

  • +1

What type of pensioners, those retired, those mentally ill, or disabled, or those with kids and lastly those who have neither and just got lucky

  • -8

This is just clearly a bad idea.

    • At this moment, yes.

    • -2

      How??

      • Really? Let’s put a huge amount of the most susceptible people in one place.

  • Good intention but this is a bad idea. The government should stop this.

  • Beware the manager of this restaurant is really rude, i had some bad experience in the past.

    • -1

Sounds like you’re still salty about it. Thanks for the heads up, Karen.

What a surprise. I google Hemant and it comes up with an Indian singer. That’s dirty tactics right there.

  • +3

    What a nice gesture.

  • just one cough and a week later…

I think they have some procedure to give the meals out without having too may people in the shop. If you tasted this food then you will understand. They are a global franchise and food is of a high quality.
