    Price in title my dude

    • +20

Just want to remind everyone, this has Benzalkonium Chloride 0.47% w/w (0.3% w/w at use by date) which can kill coronavirus at a slower rate, generally 10 minutes or more. It's effective for surface disinfection.
But it doesn't provide instant effect like 70% alcohol based, nor like 20 seconds proper hand wash with any hand washer. So, you know what to use for what purpose.

  • +21

These were $19.24 couple or so weeks ago

    • +11

i dont think people are looking for best price for them at the moment but rather just being able to get some.

      • +53

        ozbackinstock.com ?

        • +22

i agree, ozbackinstock.com.au? We shouldnt be promoting price jacking.

      • Yeah i know. Very few are complaining bout TP prices now

        • +6

Got a 10-roll pack for $8 at Woolworths the other day. Was nervously glancing around carrying it from the car to my house, don't want the neighbors knowing I have it.

      • -7

Don't think those people will be on ozbargain. We are looking for bargains…

        • You'll be looking for a long time then…

    • +2

Yeah ~$27 seems an average price for them

      • +20

Whats with these shotgun losers come and negative these deals. These prices are RRP, yes. Most case free delivered to your door.
Good luck finding them even at RRP in most places. Perfect deal, If you need it and don't have it.

    • +20

World has changed a bit in that time dude.

      • -8

World hasnt changed, some people just went nuts with hoarding.

        • People are in the world…

          • @freshness872: True and not true, people exist in the world, people arent the whole of the world. And its only some people who have gone crazy.

            • @lonewolf: And it's only taken "some" people to ruin it for everyone else.

              • @smartazz104: Yes so only some people. Besides we arent going to run out of anything, it just takes time to restock. Once the hoarders realise they are out of space and money , there will be plenty to go around.

          • @freshness872: There's literally EVERYTHING in space Morty….

    • -1

I am regret that I ditnt buy that time, many people will wish time can back to 2 months ago.

    • +1

the demand was different a couple or so weeks ago

  • +2

Dont do a me any buy 5 of these, then send it to a CBD parcel locker.

It will be ~21kg box and ~18.5kg without the box if you put it in two Coles bags and a backpack.

    • jesus, are these made of lead or something?

      • +1

        Yep - Product Dimensions: 16.2 x 21.6 x 18 cm ; 3.6 Kg

        So imagine 5x3.6kg

  • +8

    full price

What is this? A deal for normal people?

  • +2

Thanks OP. I have been looking for this with no luck.

  • +2

    Normal price, no deal.

    • +11

But the current demand is not normal, so price should go up relatively, could still be worth it to some

      • When it comes to life-threatening situation the basic business supply/demand rules will cease. If people have no money to buy things to save their lives they will take it by force.

      • +5

Whoa don't come in here with the demand supply. Not many OzBargainers are smart enough to understand how that impacts pricing.

      • So I purchased a 6 pack at $17 a few weeks back when they were on sale
In the current environment, how much will you pay me for them

  • +2

Good price for an in-stock item. I'm sure most would be willing to pay more than this at the supermarket right now.

  • +6

Considering it's really hard to buy these in stores, buying online prevents people from having to go in stores, and the price is reasonable, I would say this is a deal.

    Either way, thanks OP!

    • +6

You can buy similar in Bunnings.. lots of stock

      • Fair enough

      • +4

Post a link, these are a in demand item at the moment and sold out most places. Are you "guessing" that there's plenty of stock or do you actually know?

        • I bought a few just a few days ago.. they had boxes of them..

      • My Bunnings (Newstead and Toombul QLD) is very bare for cleaning supplies and they had NO antibacterial wipes.

  • +2

I guess it'll be gone when I am typing.

  • +1

    Price showing as $41 now

  • -2

Alcohol (isopropyl/ethanol) based products are more effective in killing the Covid-19.
This pin o cleen has no alcohol, only chloride.

      • +8

It has no more than 10% ethanol. Usually at least 60% alcohol is recommended for viruses. These wipes are not effective for the coronavirus, but it is better than nothing…

        • +1

that's why it is labeled 'antibacterial' and not 'antiviral'

    • +6
      • Excellent links, thanks for sharing. Used down below to same effect, thank you.

      • +3

The second link actually does not recommend this specific product if you read it properly.

The first link recommends it because it has 0.47% Benzalkonium Chloride, but this is less reliable on coronavirus compared to alcohol-based products. The guy you responded to is correct in his first sentence.

      • +1

        https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/infection-control/…

"Are benzalkonium chloride-containing hand rub products an acceptable alternative to ABHR for COVID-19?
CDC does not have a recommended alternative to hand rub products with greater than 60% ethanol or 70% isopropanol as active ingredients. Benzalkonium chloride, along with both ethanol and isopropanol, is deemed eligible by FDA for use in the formulation of healthcare personnel hand rubs. However, available evidence indicates benzalkonium chloride has less reliable activity against coronavirus than either of the alcohols."

Obviously referring to hand hygiene rather than surface wipes but I'll stick to the more effective alcohol based products personally.

        • eh ill use both. ill save my precious alcohol wipes for my hand/skin and use these for house surfaces

  • Price shows 41 when I add to cart. I have Prime.

    • Now it's 41 in general.

    • +1

Price for me was also $41 when searched, but once it cart it reverted to $34.68

      • Legend. Thanks for telling me probably wouldn't have noticed otherwise.

  • This is surface cleaner. not for hands. Amazon shows more than $41

  • +1

    It's not clean, unless it's Pine-O-Cleen.

  • +1

If getting this for Coronavirus purposes just be aware that the active ingredient in it is not as effective as just plain alcohol. Better than nothing though!

      • +3

        <10%

    • +1
      • +1

It works, but is not as effective.

Do you want to wait 30 minutes or 30 seconds? That's the difference.

        • second article is for coronavirus, but not specifically covid19.

first one…hmm..not sure of the claims.

by all means better than nothing though..

alcohol wipes seem to be the best solution.

      • +1

From what i've seen, there's no firm evidence to support benzalkonium chloride being effective against corona virus the way it's used by consumer, or being effective at all. One study showed it being effective at a certain dilution after being in contact with corona for 10mins , but it was not effective at double the concentration ???? .

Bleach effective as is hydrogen peroxide. as is alcohol above 60%. Dettol (Chloroxylenol) not effective, and benzalkonium chloride needs most testing. It's such a common disinfectant I don't know why there are no tests from this year

      • Guys, we just need it for cleaning the kitchen not to kill the bloody virus. There are bacterias can make us sick more than the covid19.

        • +1

Your kitchen has a 2% chance of killing you?

    • Yes, these are only Household Grade not Hospital Grade like some of the other Pine O Clean Products, but maybe better than nothing.

  • whats the cheapest way to get Amazon Prime? Is there anyway to subscribe to it and pay via itunes credit?

    • Cheaper to year upfront it's worth it so many inclusions $59 annual

      • Take the free 30 day trial when it ask you for a delivery option.

        • Isn't it 60 days now?

  • +1

Back in stock, $34.68. Just got an order through. Keep trying.

  • Paid $21 for these back in Feb - when there are plenty of stock.

    • +10

can you link to time machine please?

  • Yes just got one also

  • still in stock

  • +1

Yep, still in stock / not expired. Thanks OP

    • ditto, i tried just now still same price too

  • Thanks OP, bought a couple of packs from ALDI on the weekend but got these ones sent to my parent's place.

  • +4

Lol at the clowns negging. Price meets demand. You can't find these in store let alone for what they were 4 weeks ago.

    • +1

I don't know, people are probably negging because it's OzBargain, not OzRestocked.

  • +3

Deal is still LIVE. It is not expired.

    • The reason some people might have posted expired is because it is limited order quantity.

  • still in stock for me

  • Just ordered.Thanks op

  • +2

From what I've read, Benzalkonium Chloride, which is the active ingredient in Pine O Cleen, has little to no effect on coronaviruses. Studies suggest using 60-70% ethanol, 0.5% hydrogen peroxide or 0.1% sodium hypochlorite on surfaces.

    • -3

Thanks, have just cancelled my order.

    • -1

Yeah, you're better off using 70% Isopropyl, Metho or bleach.

    • +7

Incorrect information. What have you read? This is what I've read (thanks to above links from another poster)

      https://www.tga.gov.au/sites/default/files/advertising-exemp…

      https://www.csenergy.com.au/ArticleDocuments/251/Coronavirus…

Both links state Benzalkonium Chloride IS effective for Coronavirus, H1N1, and Influenza strains…. and recommend BC along with Alcohol 60%+.

Alcohol also evaporates very quickly when exposed to open air, lowering the disinfecting properties anyway.
Don't cancel orders based on half truths folks. At the end of the day if you need surface wipes, get them here because they are NO WHERE else!

And this is shipped… so no getting into fist fights at Woolies.

      • Thanks for the links.

As I purchased Pine-O Cleen and Wet Ones wipes last week and subsequently googled Benzalkonium Chloride and some sites said it was not effective vs Coronavirus.

Our Balnea Hand Sanitisers purchased from Woolies also contain Benzalkonium Chloride as the active ingredient.

But your TGA link says it is effective. Good to know.

      • +1

The first link refers to Glen 20 which is a different product to these wipes.

Anyway this is what I've read from the Journal of Hospital Infection

        https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S019567012…

        • +2

Not to harp on it arunda, but your link states Benzalkonium Chloride concentrations below 0.2% are less effective.

The above product is 0.47% on purchase, and >0.3% before the used by date… well surpassing the limits quoted in your article.

I sound like I work them or something, but I don't. I just want people to be confident in sterilising their areas with these wipes… and to avoid cancelling their orders for the wrong reasons.

I do appreciate your efforts to educate. I'm doing the same.
          Have a good one.

Here is a list of Canada’s approved chemicals for eliminating corona virus. This is on the list.
      https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/drugs-health…

      • +1

        Exactly right.

    • Had to do a bit of research for work on this matter and could not find anything from Pine O Clean themselves.

However, the active ingredient in these wipes is benzalkonium chloride which is stated to be suitable by the ARTG.

Similar wipes with the same active ingredient like Dettol and V-Wipes have claimed to be effective against COVID-19 if used appropriately.

I think it may require around 10 minutes contact time against viruses.

  • Bit of a rip off. Strike is $3 a pack from Woolies/Aldi

  • +2

A few of us bought isopropyl alcohol a while ago. This is a recommended ingredient for hand sanitizer by WHO. If you have normal wipes, just put in an amount relative to the amount of wipes? I don't like to encourage price gouging.

    • +1

Diluting it to 70% and putting it in spray bottle is the easiest.

    • Now the question is where one can buy Isopropyl alcohol online at a reasonable price? Ebay has a few listings that bidding for over 200 dollars for a 5L bottle now
