I would say this is the standard special price. A damn good price would be in the range of $26xx or lower.

  • +2

Isn't this the normal average price? Damn good prices are $2600-2700

    • Fair call, I'll edit the description. I've been waiting for a good price.

      • +1

But not a damn good price. Only a normal average price, or standard special price.

I wonder how this would compare to a non-standard normal average price.

    • -1

No, aside from a couple absolute bargains using eBay coupons which brought it down to around $2650-$2700, the 65" has rarely (never?) been cheaper than $2995 off-the-shelf.

I walked into Good guys, paid $2750 delivered. I used Good Guy vouchers in addition as I'm not stupid, paid $2613. Free delivery.

Just do a search mate. Dropped below 3k many times that were easily accessible.

        • What’s the deal with the vouchers mate?

          • @johnnyutah: You ask a friend who can get access to discounts gift cards. A friend has youi insurance and can get 5% off good guys gift cards through the app so I have them a case of beer for doing it for me. Or perhaps you might have access to the gift cards through a service you have.

        • The question was, "Isn't this the normal average price?". My response still stands. It has rarely been below $3000 without applying some kind of online coupon (which makes it hard to match in-store).

          • @Prizm: So it hasn't been below $3k, unless you use ozb, of which it has multiple times.

It was 2700 from good guys store. That's 300 less than this deal.

  • +2

To think my first TV cost about 5% of this lol.

    • +6

Yeah but this one has colour!

  • This is standard price. ~$2619 delivered during Shopback and Myer combo :)

  • Not a good price at all?

  • +5

I think we can all agree - the TV is definitely for sale, and for a price.

    • Thought with the cx they wouldn't have many left and would be letting them go cheap.

Is the event going to change release date for new models?

    • But the type of price is non-standard special, or standard non-average price. But clearly it's not the standard non-average price.

  • JB, GG and HN have had this for $3,999 RRP for a while except for the odd sale. It looks like HN, GG and JB have it under $3k.
I expect that others will follow to $3k and then we just need to wait for an eBay deal or a 10% sale.

  • With exchange rate as it is will we see lower again?

    • If US economy collapses we might…

  • +1

Tempted to buy this now. Especially being stuck at home for the foreseeable future. Been just waiting for the perfect sale or a sale on the 77"

    • I've jumped on it - however through Good guys, due to free delivery.

      • +1

Getting it from Good Guys for $2850 Delivered. Not too far off the really good prices in the 2600-2800 range. And considering all previous Ebay sales have not included delivery. That's pretty good.

        • Wait, how are you getting it for $2850?

        • How did you get that? You called up? still $2995 on website.

          • +1

@Catcher: Correct called up the local store and negotiated with the sales rep. I honestly reckon you could push it lower.

            • @Commander Shepard: Easy negotiation or did you have to push hard?

              • @Catcher: Easy negotiation. Didn't push hard at all.

              • @Catcher: Do you mind sharing from which TGG shop you got the price of $2850 from? I am going to my local TGG shop now

                • +1

@Gundala: Good Guys Noarlunga SA. Agreed on the price over the phone, they made the docket and then went in to pay instore at the front desk. Payments made over the phone can take a bit longer to go through apparently. Since I wanted the TV for my leave which starts tomorrow, I decided to drive to the store and pay there.

                    • +1

@Gundala: Just called up my local Good guys and asked for $2800 pickup - no negotiation needed, was just given it. Anyone reading this, try to go lower, and lets see how low we can get!

                      • @mahdoo: I asked and was offered $50 off… with $50 postage.

                        • @theguyrules: Call up and say your friend was offered $2700, and could they match it. Don't ask how much could they take off, they'll want commission so wont go low. They'll only go low if they think you have the upperhand.

                      • @mahdoo: I’m terrible at haggling. Really interested in the 55” LG C9, any tips? Currently at $1995 but I think I can go lower. Best offer I got was $1940…

                      • @mahdoo: Nice job. But yeah I agree, I think you could push for $2700 from GGs. @Bdawg138 just ask if they are negotiable on price and give them your offer. If your not happy with the salesmens attitude or what you get, call a different store and get it delivered from a there. Loving the C9 65" so far, only complaint is the low stand. Meaning I will have to sort out a solution for my soundbar.

        • Can you please upload the invoice because JB need to see the proof.

      • You used Good guys 5% gift cards right?

        • Not me. Wasn’t aware of them.

    • 77C9 will be tricky to find now. LG are essentially out of stock, so it'll just be whichever retailer still has stock.

Source - I'm a TGG employee (associated by extension I guess).

      • +1

Yeah, I have been waiting for a 77" for months to go on sale for around $4000-$5000 (similar to the other dude on here who got one on clearance). Since I cant see this happening for a long time now. And with all time going to be spent at home. I think if you still have the job security and can afford the cost. Its worth buying a few things like this now to make the home experience more enjoyable.

But who knows, these TVs could be worth less soon due to no demand. Or they could go up due to the weak AUD and manufacturing/logistics delays.

        • That's my thoughts. Cinemas are closed now - so time to invest a bit more in the home theatre.

  • +1

Given the fallen dollar and the corona crisis I doubt we'll be seeing this for sale under the 3K mark for a while (same for the 55' at about 2k). I'm kicking myself for not getting the last deal before everything happened.

    • +2

Maybe we could sell our house and be able to buy 2 TV's.

      • +1

Or swap someone a roll of toilet paper for their TV in a weeks time

  • -2

No way these don't drop under $2k in the next couple of months.

    • +2

      Lol Dreaming

      • -3

You're dreaming if you don't think our economy is going to go into a deep recession. Have you seen the centrelink lines? Have you seen the job cuts? How much do you think self employed people are making right now?

        • In the short term closing down sales are possible. =(

        • Why would they sell so cheap? They have no issue moving stock at these prices

          • @berger: They will, lets come back here in a month

  • Any good 65" TV at JB for 1k price point.?

  • I wonder if new CX series will be delayed?

  • I'm a little confused here, when I go to the link the price is $3995, am I missing something here?

    • I just stumbled upon the this ozbagain deal my self last night but same seeing the $3,995 price @ JB :(
I was so badly waiting for this 65inch OLED TV to go on special.
      Have we missed out already??

  • FWIW i've tried calling several GG and JB HiFi's and they wont go anywhere near this price or the $2700 that GG's were giving. Most were only able to go down to about $3700-$3800.

I guess i'll have to wait till the next promo :(

    • Just wait and a sub $3k deal will come, they won’t go sub $2k as old mate above predicts

  • What wall mounts are people using for the 65 c9?
