Is this good enough to run the latest and greatest games at best performance ?

    • +9 votes

      Short answer: absolutely.

      • +5 votes

        Yes would’ve been shorter 👈🏽

    • +1 vote

Uhm, depends on your monitor setup. Should run games at max settings up to WQHD (2560x1440). For higher resolutions (4K, multi monitors, ultrawide etc) you'll probably need to turn down settings a bit on some games if you want decent framerates

    • +2 votes

1440p resolution yes, 4k resolution no.

    • +8 votes

And be sure to spend the extra $29 for 3200Mhz RAM.

      •

Every techfast post I see $29 for 3200Mhz RAM but for me it shows $49?

    •

My 5700xt runs Destiny 2 and Modern Warfare constantly above 120fps (generally close to the 130 - 144 fps mark) at 1440p. The 2070 "super" (I hate that name so much…) ranges from 5 - 10% faster.

It's absolutely overkill for 1080p, go for a 5600xt or 2060 there. But for 1440p/144hz or 4k/60hz it'll do great for modern games.

Just keep in mind it'll be flogged by the next gen GPUs at this price point and out performed by the upcoming consoles. Don't let that dissuade you from buying if you want it now and have the cash, but if you have a good PC currently might be best holding till the end of year.

  •

    Thanks folks. I already have DELL P-SERIES 23.8" (16:9) QHDIPS WLED, 2560x1440, 8MS (P2418D) monitor. I take that's going to be good enough ?

    •

      For a 60Hz monitor, it's fine.

    •

You'll need a new monitor if you want to take advantage of that setup.

      •

What's the most reasonable (price wise) recommendation then ?

        •

Monitor or setup? With your monitor even a GTX1060 can run most games pretty well, probably not for much longer into the future though.

          •

@ShinK0: I'd be after a monitor to as you said, take an advantage of this set up. Thanks

            • +1 vote

              @jettim76: I would recommend a 1440p monitor that is 27"+, IPS, 120hz+, 5ms or less and G-Sync or G-Sync enabled. I currently use an Alienware aw3418dw.

For good value, I'd recommend looking at AOC Agon's lineup. In terms of price, you can grab something on sale at around $600-$700.

              • +2 votes

@ShinK0: Adding on to this you may be able to skimp a bit on the g sync, as you can force gsync on a lot of monitors nowadays. A good VN 144hz monitor is often around $500 on Ozb

                •

@Tachicuddles: Yup, that's what I meant by G-sync enabled. Thanks for clarifying though, just in-case.

    •

Enough? More then enough. My 3700x/5700xt runs a 1440p/144hz monitor pretty much constantly at 130+ fps on COD MW and Destiny 2.

  •

Hi Luke, is there any chance you can do a case upgrade to the Thermaltake Versa on this deal? I don't think I can justify going for the similar 2080s deal - this 2070s machine looks perfect for playing Half Life Alyx, which is all I really want it for.

I'll go for the ram & NVME ssd upgrade as well - would that be an AData?

    •

Please email [email protected] with this and I'll take a look.

This package should easily handle it.

Go ahead any buy the i5 if your running 1080p resolution and think 6 cores is enough, but i'll take the Ryzen for a 4k (or my 5120 x 1440 dell) monitor and 8 cores anyday.

  •

I'm new to amd . Can someone pls tell me which Intel cpu the R7-3700X is equal too?

    • +1 vote

      based on https://browser.geekbench.com/processor-benchmarks and https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/cpu-hierarchy,4312.html

Seems like it sits between a 8/9th gen i5 and i7 for single core operations and between a 8/9th gen i7 and i9 for multi core and gaming.

      so like a i5-8600K+ or i7-8700k- for single core (i6-8650 :p)
      and
i7-8700k+ or i9-9900k- for multi core / gaming (i8-9300 if we go with a completely nonsensical naming convention)

      •

        Thanks mate.

I have i7-7700. Soo I guess I'll jus holding buying this for now

        • +1 vote

You are due to upgrade. 7700 is a 4 cores CPU, a legacy of Intel's greed. 3700X is faster than 7700 in single thread, and is miles ahead in multi thread performance.

          •

@davescott: People really understate the QoL improvement an upgrade from 4 cores to 6/8 cores plus the frequency/IPC increase gives.

    •

Pretty much any modern 6+ core with SMT. The 9700k/9900k are slight outliers, but that's a 10% difference at most in CPU bottlenecked situations (which probably won't happen unless you're running a 1080p240hz monitor or ARMA)

is there any chance of having better case options? :)

Thanks BA and Luke. Just ordered.

How can you not replying emails and still pushing the sales? Where is the service?

    • -1 vote

Perhaps they are busy?! If you want better service consider buying in-store or name brand, at a higher price… your choice

      •

I understand they may be busy during this pandemic period, because different people reply me each time, the email was sent to the junk email. Things should have been done much earlier. I received my PC but with a damaged motherboard due to the poor shipping so need to send it back. If a better choice of shipping, this is avoidable. When you look up the shipping company, the review is very bad.

        •

i suggest you pm luke. and take some pictures and send it to thier email. my pc came with a damage case and gpu was hanging sideway and only 1 screw. but within a few days i got a email with return postage and sent it out last saturday, they received it the following wednesday 4 days later and today i got a tracking number for the replacement and figured id upgrade the gpu from the 1070 FE to a galax 2070 super. tracking number says will be here between monday and wednesday. last time was shipped with toll and this time with aus post. so fingers crossed. all in all very fast response and service from luke and the rest of the techfast team. they were very friendly and didnt once try to pass the blame they did the right thing and made sure i was satisfied and happy. service like that is what will keep my business with techfast

and i wanted to add before it was shipped the first time i wanted to change the motherboard and they were more then happy to swap it out.

    •

      Message Luke on here.

      •

Yes, as their contact number is shut down due to the pandemic. No reply thru email, that's why I comment here and look for their reply here.

Why so small hdd? How much for a 1TB SSD?

    •

      1tb ssd is a $109 upgrade
      1tb ssd.nvme is $169 upgrade

  •

Hey guys, got a silly question. I am thinking to change the case in future but I don't know the difference between the naming of ATX , mini ATX, Macro ATX etc etc. Also what size mother board of this build?

    •

if im thinking this correctly the sizing goes

      ATX
      mini ATX
      micro ATX

and when looking at motherboard they all specify if they are atx, mini atx, and micro atx, so a atx motherboard will not fit in a mini or micro atx case. but i believe a mini and micro motherboard will fit in a atx case. im not a pro by any means and my answer may have revealed that. so hopefully a few more chime in to give a better and more educated answer.

    • +1 vote

macro and ATX is full size and supports all board sizes, the macro is not common, standard ATX is the most common, upgrade boards used by techfast are often ATX boards
micro ATX, the next size down are also very common, the biostar board used here is a micro-ATX
mini-ITX are smaller still and are not very common, used mainly by ppl looking to minimise physical footprint, typically not used by any prebuilders or builders alike within the gaming industry, used by office/corps mostly

      •

Thanks Smokey. I've upgraded to AMD B450M Motherboard, does that means I need to find ATX or bigger case if I want to replace the case?
What is M-ATX case? Is it ATX or macro ATX?

        •

never heard of macro atx. in size (largest to smallerst): EATX (extended atx), ATX, mATX, (micro-atx), mini-itx. atx cases fit both ATX and mATX. mATX cases only fit mATX.

        •

M-ATX is the micro-atx, very rare that you will ever see macro or extended ATX as it is called, so discount it
the upgrade is good, it also will be M-ATX, though still nothing really wrong with the B350 for this system

          •

@smokey and: Thanks but I've already purchased it with the mobo upgrade.

            I love that Deepcool Quadstellar………………..

  •

Hi, I am currently looking for a desktop PC. Would this system play Witcher 3 maxed out?

I would like this system to have 32gb ram 3200mhz and an extra 1TB or 2 TB hard disk. A Thermaltake Versa case sounds good too.

    •

Pretty much with 16GB RAM. At 1440p. I wouldn't buy additional RAM or SSD's now (due to trading conditions). Thermaltake Versa is a good budget mATX case.

      •

        Thanks for the tip.

Yeah I guess 32gb ram is pretty much overkill.

And I was talking about the normal HDD 1TB or 2TB, not SSD. I'm still a bit old school in that department, don't trust SSD that much haha. I would prefer to have the operating system and games on an SSD, but other stuff on the HDD.

Any suggestion for a good yet cheap 1440p monitor? If you have any other suggestions, please do give. Thanks.

        •

whats your budget for the monitor?

          •

@denali7432: AUD 2000-3000 for a gaming deskptop. Thanks.

            •

@AngelfireSnake89: so if your picking up this package depending on what you upgrade is it safe to say your budget for monitor is about $1000?

              •

@denali7432: looking around you can grab a 30 to 34" ultrawide 1440p 120hz for $950 to $1000. i looked for 1440p because if your going with this package i doubt you would bottleneck yourself on 1080p.

                •

@denali7432: Sorry for the late response, I can only post like 5 comments in 24 hours, which is a bit sad.

And yeah I am interested in a 1440p 120-140Mhz monitor, one that is good but also cheap. I have seen some AOC ones for less than $500, but they seem to be out of stock.

It's been over two weeks since my mate ordered his system off your last deal. Since then no updates, no replies to his email, nothing. What's the ETA on these systems actually being shipped?

I understand it's a challenging time, but the lack of tracking or communication is really disappointing. Can't even ring you guys because your call centre is closed, so how about you guys be a bit more proactive with your customers who've already ordered from you weeks ago and handed you over their money?

We were going to build a system together but he decided to trust you guys instead, and he's been waiting for over two weeks now without any clue what is happening to his order. Pull your socks up.

    • +2 votes

Build time is quoted at 10 to 14 working days, so 2 to 3 weeks, so hopefully your freind heres from them soon.

      •

That's a lot of time excluding postage o-O…

        •

i'm guessing they are busy with all the people wanting systems? I'm waiting on one too, but they have been upfront with their capacity currently

          • +2 votes

@Trantor: 14 full working days have passed since my order was placed. Luke assured that it would be shipped out within that timeframe and there were no shortages for the parts in my order, but I have yet to receive a dispatch notice as of today.

Closure of their call center has exacerbated the anxiety, especially since email/messages are not being replied to.

That said, I understand we're in challenging times and they can't give the swift friendly response as usual.

But for our orders which have been made weeks ago, at least issue a courtesy update to give us an estimated date on delivery, even if it's bad news about being delayed. No doubt a lot of us would be disappointed, but it would greatly alleviate the uncertainty.

            •

@yanhaot: you DM Luke on here? he normally relies same day or next

              • +1 vote

                @Trantor: Yes, I have.

                • +1 vote

@yanhaot: hmm odd, hope he can post and allay everyone's fears, as I said i'm waiting on one too, if things have slipped for a reason, then a post would be nice

        • +1 vote

Perhaps I was a bit harsh, perhaps I wasn't. My mate tried to contact them via Facebook, their Techfast online form, and email and received no reply.

I was miffed that my mate has been waiting for over 2 weeks now without so much as a courtesy update from Techfast, who in that time posted up another offer on Ozbargain without fulfilling their previous orders, or at least provide some sort of update.

I guess we can take some solace in knowing that he's not the only chap in this predicament.

          • +3 votes

@LordPanda: I just got a dispatch notice stating mine was shipped.

            Btw 2 weeks isn't 14 working days, that's more around 21 days.

I'm pretty sure they'll message you if it ever goes beyond that like it did for me. Been like that for me since the first order.

            •

@yanhaot: Cheers, my mate is reading this thread and am I sure he appreciates you sharing your experiences with your order.

              •

@LordPanda: I'm still waiting on it. The motherboard box arrived with the driver software, but the PC is still stuck in SA.

This is attributed to Auspost though, don't know what's taking them so long. Lodged two tickets with them, not a single reply after two business days.

                •

@yanhaot: Australia Post use to be a public service, its now a public disgrace, not the staff, but how its operated and ran.

    •

I am also waiting on the previous Ryzen 9 deal. It's been +2 weeks. They are waiting on the PC cases to come in. Looks like they don't have stock to work on.

  •

I would love to get someone’s opinion on techfast directly? Even if they private message me so as not to create issues in here. Have read plenty about refurbished/second hand parts, lots of reviews on damaged in transit or before hand, rigs being put together poorly with visual evidence, no name parts that create problems (especially psu) etc. their prices seem awfully low, so these points wouldn’t surprise me at all.

    Thanks in advance.

  •

the allied 550w PSU is an abomination, the allied 750w PSU is seviceable enough, much like a big-brand "litepower"
true piece of mind comes with the 80+ gold upgrade
most parts they use are not big-brand nor top line, but serviceable enough
another recced upgrade would be the case, the leaper one's are ok-ish, but ugh, get a better one if you can

  •

Thoughts on this for video editing/Photoshop?

  •

Any comments on how this rig compares to http://www.pccasegear.com/products/49634/pccg-storm-2070-gam... after adding options to bring them as close as possible? The CPU and GPU on this look good, but after considering various upgrades to motherboard, RAM, PSU and storage I am wondering if I am better off just going with PCCG (and not having to worry about delivery issues some people appear to be having).

  •

    Hi brains trust,

Any thought on how this compares to the G5 Dell Desktop? Currently $1835.20 after coupon discount (Dell eBay sale).
After trying to align the specs (bigger SSD, 1TB storage, Windows 10, wifi, keyboard + mouse) this TechFast deal came to $1999.00.

I have never thought to buy computers out of the box from the major companies but if it stacks up then… shrugs

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Dell-G5-Gaming-Desktop-9th-I...

    •

dont forget the G5 has the 256GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD, wereas with techfast, you have to pay extra for the M.2 nvme

    •

Any thought on how this compares to the G5 Dell Desktop? Currently $1835.20 after coupon discount (Dell eBay sale).

That link has it at $2,294.00 after discount. Or has it changed since you posted?

      •

Problem with the current Dell I have, its a previous gaming PC of theirs, is upgrading, they dodn't upgrade the motherboard past the gen cpu that comes with it, various proprietary items which make it hard to replace, yeah you can upgrade ram/HD/SSD but not the cpu without a new motherboard, and new power supply, as some of the plugs aren't standard I believe. Don't get me wrong, it is a great machine, but having to replace instead of just upgrading. Food for thought. Not sure the current range is the same though.

      •

        Coupon no longer valid.

  •

    Hey,

I was looking to buy this and was wondering if I can pick up locally, please? On the website, it only gives me the option for delivery but no pickup. Back in the day when you guys were on eBay, I picked up the order which I feel would be faster than any postal service.

  •

Price seems to be $1759 now with code :( Gone up overnight

  •

Hey Luke could we have a repeat of this deal or a similar config?
