Apple's Final Cut Pro X - 90 Day Free Trial - (and Soon Logic Pro X) @ Apple

1250

Another nice initiative. Normally only 30 days. Stay safe, and enjoy :)

Apple’s creative professional apps - video editing software Final Cut Pro X and music production suite Logic Pro X - are both getting free 90-day trials for a limited time. The 90-day trial is available now for Final Cut Pro X and will arrive “in the coming days” for Logic Pro X.

The coronavirus pandemic has left many homebound and unable to attend school or work, so having access to professional tools that cost hundreds of dollars during this time is a big deal. “We hope customers who are home and looking for something new to master will try out these free trials,” reads Apple’s announcement.

Final Cut Pro X already had a 30-day free trial, but a free trial of any kind is entirely new for Logic Pro X. Apple doesn’t mention when the offer for 90-day trials will end, but notes that both programs will revert to a 30-day free trial once the initiative expires. Additionally, customers who have already downloaded the 30-day free trial of Final Cut Pro X will be able to take advantage of the extended trial period.

Worth noting if you like the trial: Final Cut and Logic (normally $499.99 and $319.99 respectively) are available in a bundle with Motion, Compressor and MainStage sold to students and teachers for $299.99

    https://www.apple.com/au-hed/shop/product/BMGE2Z/A/pro-apps-…

    • Is the license for current version only? can you receive updates?

      • +1

I believe that if you buy that bundle it gets added to your account on the Mac App Store, as if you bought it at full price.

But I haven't bought it myself so I can't say for sure.

  • Only for Mac… I swear I remember reading about an FC version for Windows at some point. Must have been a dream.

  • Final Cut is da bomb

The Logic Pro X 90 day trial is now posted up on the US site.

    https://www.apple.com/logic-pro/

It just points directly to the download instead of having to fill in a form.

Da Vinci Resolve is a free very popular and professional video editing and colour grading software made by Australian company Blackmagic Design. It runs on Apple and Windows. They also make a line of very popular video cameras that come with a full version of Da Vinci Resolve (called Da Vinci Resolve Studio). But you can do a lot with the free version.

    • Yes Da Vinci resolve is free for a basic version and not too expensive for full featured version https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/?gc… It is very good. Especially for colour grading and making your footage look amazing. If you use apple then after 90 days your projects are locked in to paying for apple. You are virtually locking your self in to paying for apple software. Personally I would use Da Vinci for video editing knowing you can always access your project on the free version.
