  • put the price in to the title, welcome to ozB

66 bux cheaper than penta 999 vs 1065, but you have to deal with cotd…what price can you put on your dignity and the delays?

    also model is:
    •Lenovo IdeaPad Y560-4397M2M
    •Intel 2nd Gen Quad Core i7 2630QM processor - up to 2.7Ghz 4MB Cache
penta link (65 bux more expensive at penta)
    http://penta.com.au/index.php?main_page=product_info&product…

so decent enough price (6.5% cheaper)

    • price is $849 after cash back

    • I would avoid saying anything that even vaguely implies Penta's offer could be used as a benchmark for preserving one's dignity and avoiding delays :)

As for CoTD's deal, $999 was a great price for an i7-2630M with mid-range graphics back around May, but there have been much better deals more recently particularly considering this one lacks USB 3.0. Would have to be closer to $799 before it's in 'bargain' territory.

didnt you type the model number into shopbot or static ice? did you buy it from HN at ticket price? think you deserve it if you did :P
      (i didnt neg your comment)
      or it could be sarcasm

thanks for keeping those businesses afloat for us, so we can reap the benefits of markdowns

I detect sarcasm, but I could be wrong. I have been wrong in the past - I think.

      • Yeah I'm pretty sure he is joking.

      • +2

        you just won ;)

Also, I would suggest to the OP to change the original $1789 to RRP $1789, it was never originally sold for this price by this seller.

  • This doesn't seem too bad.. I can't for the life of me find a laptop that's at least an i5 (or a quad core AMD), 8gb RAM and a decent graphics card for under $1000.

    • Get one from the US and you can even get a better build quality model Thinkpad for less than $1000.

      • What about the power?

    • If you're ok with the AMD Radeon 6630m 1GB, you can get an e420 with 8GB ram for sub$800. That's what I've got (with i5-2540m) and it plays Crysis2 and just about everything else fine on med/high settings, if that's what you're in to.

      • Where did you get it for $800? Sounds good.

        • Where else but via Ozbargain? http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/44552
I paid $826 in May and added 4GB ram after market (~$30). The price has come down so just wait for another decent Lenovo website deal, seems they run one out every few days.

  • It is a little expensive. $599 will be good.
