Made in GERMANY and not CHINA for the win.

I have had this for 2+ years. Goes great.

    • Yeah me too going strong 2 or 3 years now.

    • how to identify its made in Germany not China?

      • It says on the website

      • Most series 8 are made in Germany, if not, Spain.

      • +1

        model number WAW(XXXXX) is Germany

  • Good price for delivery included. Not something you'll want to click and collect - it's pretty heavy.
Great quiet machine and cleans really well

    • Changed my mind now that delivery is $99. Not a bad price but it's been cheaper in the past. I got one for approx $850 delivered previously.
      Great machine though

    • +2

When I bought a Bosch washing machine from David Jones a few years ago (this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/414840), there was no option to pick it up to C&C - home delivery only. It's worth it really as they install it and take the old machine away. The guys who brought mine did a great job.

2 years in and my machine has performed faultlessly - the iDOS system is awesome.

      • +1

I should have paid extra for an iDOS model!

    • You couldn't click and collect this even if you tried; it's not an option

  • Thanks OP.

Can a dryer be stacked on top of this? If so, any recommendations?

    • For most washing machines, only the traditional electric element dryers can be stacked from what I gather, as they aren't too heavy.

I believe the energy saving heat pump ones cannot be stacked, but I may be wrong.

      • Can stack with heat pump

        • +2

I have a bosch heat pump dryer stacked on top of my bosch washer, it goes fine. Just get one of those vibration absorbtion mats to put between them. Or, if you really want to get tricky, Bosch sells stacking brackets that fit between the two units and some include a pull-out shelf.

          • @Astronaut Joe: Me too. Works quite well

          • @Astronaut Joe: Care to share about vibration absorption mat. Any link? Recommendations? I have dryer stacked up directly on washing machine. Seems I have been missing this.

            • +1

@PopCounty: I just got one from TGG.

            • +1

@PopCounty: GoodGuys, Harvey, etc. have them., e.g. this one. I had one from GG many years back and while $40 looked a rip off to me at the time, I guess its been worth it.

Delivery appears as $99 for me in VIC; how did you achieve it to be free ?

  • +4

Not sure it includes free delivery? Free delivery relates to standard items.

This is classed as "Standard Bulky"

"TVs, Furniture, Beds and Large Appliances are delivered direct from the vendor. A representative will be in contact after you place your order to organise a delivery date and time to suit you. The delivery fee is calculated by the size and weight of the item/s, plus the delivery location."

  • +1

Got one a few months back, great machine.

  • I bought a Electrolux EWW1042ADWA 10kg-6kg Combo Washer Dryer from the last 20% off ebay sale - only to find the Good Guys don't have stock and waiting for it from China in approx. 2 months…they gave the option to cancel the order at least. I'm not sure if the Electrolux machines are good but worked out at $1250 delivered with the discount - David Jones has the same for $1500. Not sure if to wait or cancel and order elsewhere. Does anyone here have any knowledge of what is good or bad out there for washer/dryers?

    • +4

Combo units don't do either job well. Unless absolutely prevented by space, get a seperate washer and dryer.

      • +2

Signed up just to reaffirm this. Rented a place that came with a combo LG one. I thought I was living in the future, but really it sucked as a washing machine and it sucked as a dryer. Worst past was not being able to wash a load while one was drying.

        • +1

Signed up just to reaffirm this.

Hard to find these days. Mostly now a days it’s either car crashed or not insured. So a good change here :) Cheers.
          Ahh, welcome.

      • Got a Fisher and Paykel washer dryer combo last year from TGG Ebay 20% off. Works like an absolute charm. So, so quiet, and highly customisable settings. One of the best purchases I've made. Warranty and support is also great.

      • completely agreed but yeah, unfortunately small unit so not enough space for both. I have an LG model I bought 2006 or so which I repaired myself (replaced inlet valves) however it now developed new issues whereby it leaks in water if still on after a wash so in attempting a dry cycle everything gets more wet - it also doesn't clear the conditioner tray properly. I could repair again but at it's age it's not worth it, and as Almeister commented it was never great at anything… I'm hoping newer machines are better - had someone mention the Fisher and Paykel / Bosch machines being some of the better ones before but went for the Westinghouse simply based on price, size, and online reviews being quite good. Thanks for the feedback anyway…

  • It is not free shipping for me either. It charges me 99 dollars and I live in Metro Adelaide.

  • I live in country vic and it came up free delivery

    • Try going to the point where you are about to enter your credit card details.

      • I did it says a representative will be in contact to organise your free contactless delivery

        • you have to go past that stage to see the delivery charge

      • Yeh I live in suburban VIC and it comes up as $99 when getting to payment part

I bought this washing machine 2 years ago and was running perfeclty up untill last week and during a wash cycle it started to make strange noise. BOSCH technician visted in a couple of days time and deemed the washing kaput. Will be getting a brand new replacement soon.

    • +4

      kaput.

Was that the technical term? :p

I would be interested to know what the actual fault was (if possible) please?

      • +5

the internal bin got loose and wobbly, SO repair was not feasible.

    • We have had our Bosch washing machine for 5 years. We just moved and its making a strange noise since the move, still works though just noisy. I figure its not kaput till it actually stops working though.

      • You're supposed to put the transport bolts back in when moving to protect it from damage. If you didn't, then that might be a reason?

        • +1

Yeah we put the transport bolts in. Oh well.

  • Doesn't seem to ship to Perth…

    • Or SE Qld.

  • Bought the same for $836,incl delivery a couple years ago from TGG.
Made in Germany. Very solid. Minimum 2 washes a week. No issues so far. Highly recommend.

  • I too have this machine. Bought it for our first home and a staff member from JB hifi recommended it to us. No problems for 4 years and still going strong.

Very quiet machine. Only downside is the machine will keep beeping when the cycle ends until it automatically shuts down

    • Pretty sure you can change the volume or turn the beeping off. Page 24 and 25 of the manual.

  • +7

i know this is one of the better made washing machines out on the market, where there are plenty of really bad ones. but why on earth are people posting/boasting about a machine that is still going strong after 2 years? of course it should! are my expectations too unrealistic? or does the community accept >= 2 years' life as "abnormal"? :/

    • We aren’t all washing machine connoisseurs here

    • +2

Without wanting to offend anyone was thinking the same. I've got one of those 500$ Samsung ones and it's 9 years old now without issues. I keep it clean but nothing else.

      • my samsung broken today, 6 years.

    • +2

I think the other ozbargaines were just commenting on how long they have had this exact washing machine model and it is still in working order.

  • Are we allowed to go in and physically collect?

    • +6

      No. Only verbally.

      • I thought there was some ordinance saying not to go out unless food/medical or something?

        • I would argue a washing machine is an essential item.

  • +1

$99? They deliver it in a stretch limo?

    • That's way too much. Good Guys charges about $49.

    • it's stupid gauging.

      • +3

What are you trying to measure?

        • +2

          your humour

    • No. Black Hawk

  • I've been using my Fisher & Paykel for 11 years now.

Delivery Fee is the killer here. I would love to buy one of these.

  • Great price. Paid 1200 a few months ago and thought that was a good price

  • My wife reckons front loaders don't wash as well as top loaders, for some reason. Or was this just a bad experience? Anyone have any differing experiences on front loaders vs. top loaders?

    • +1

In what way? I find that top loaders are harsher with the way they turn the clothes which may result in "cleaner" clothes but ultimately the longetivity of the clothes suffers. They stretch, deform etc.

Maybe this is just the older style top loaders though.

      • She mentioned she feels it doesn't wash as well, probably the inference being because there is less water (great for the environment though!). She also acknowledges we've only had 1x front loader and maybe it was just a crap front loader!

I'm thinking that perhaps it was because it was just not a good front loader… thanks for the input!

    • +1

      I find them similar.

      • I find them similar but my shirts come out really stretched and abused when using a top loader (warning old LG one 12 years).

        • 🤷‍♂️ I get the same in a front loader…eg jumpers/long sleeves and pants/tights get tangled in other clothes and stretch out.

    • +1

I find the opposite. Combined with a decent soap like OMO, front loaders get clothes cleaner but at the same time more gentle. Don't use quick washes all the time, and a front loader will work well. Top loaders are very harsh on clothes, find that you get lots of piling and wear marks on clothes from the agitator.

  • Price says $949.00. I looked at this a week ago and it was $949 then, so dont know how you are seeing $854, but the $99 delivery is the blocker for me

    • +1

ah I just saw the "take extra 10% off"

  • +1

My last washing machine lasted 17 years.

Just to be the voice of dissent, I have a 5 y/o German made Bosch WAY32540. I couldn't dissuade the wife from buying one of the higher end ones. This 5 year old machine has already had 3 warranty call outs. 2 for a water level sensor and one for something I can't recall. I've also had to replace a drain pump myself after the warranty period but I won't fault it because it failed because of a hair entanglement problem which is understandable.

    My complaints are as follows:

    1) I've had to call warranty support over and over the first 2 years. Not very confidence inspiring. Especially considering my last machine didn't have any issues until it failed.
    2) Replacing the drain pump was easy as with most machines… the replacement part however, is a specialty part that costs $130! Most machines use a generic fitting drain pump that can be as cheap as $25.
    3) BIGGEST PEEVE OF ALL - I don't know if it's because this machine is so incredibly water wise, but every once in a while, some clothes will come out with spots that never even got wet! Not much laundering in those cases! And no, I will confidently state that the machine was being used properly, not overfilled, (it even happens with loads that are tiny), are emptied immediately after the wash is done, and the clothes don't have grease on them. I only see these dry spots on grey or dark clothes because they're obvious. I have no idea if they happen more often with other my other light coloured clothes. Like I said, this is my biggest peeve, because it doesn't matter how !@#$%*& amazing the washer is, if I can't be certain that it's doing it's ONE JOB, then it's not much good then.

I'm not trying to convince anyone against Bosch washers, just wanted to share my unfortunate experience.

    • Classic lemon syndrome. Disappointed they didn't just replace.

  • I got this off a 20% ebay promo from GG. It is very quiet.

    Highly recommend it!!!!!

  • Would recommend this washing machine. Good quality and brand given the price. I've had this exact same model for roughly 5 years. Bought it for $1k. Minimum 3 loads a week. Still going strong, no issues. Only maintenance I do is chemical machine wash cleaner every 6 months (sometimes longer).

Brother has been using his Bosch washing machine (different model) for over 10yrs. Still working fine, no issues too.

    • Ours is one or two loads per day but only had it for 6 months.

  • I have a Bosche washing machine. Never again, had endless problems.

    • Sounds like you may have bought a cheap imitation

    • Porsche ?

  • Do we know if delivery includes installation? Ordering for parents who are over 70.

    • +1

Probably not. It’s not too hard to install. You only need a screwdriver to remove the bolts that hold the drum, and connect the hose to the cold water tap. Connect the power plug and you’re ready to go

  • Does anyone know the smaller version of this that is also made in Germany? I'm only living with my wife, so 8kg load is a bit too big? Maybe a 5-7.5kg version?

    • +2

The drum is quite small for a 8kg somehow (when compared to electrolux), so I would just stay with the 8kgs

    • +1

I had Bosch WAE20261AU, 6.5kg for more than 10yrs now. Still going strong with 6-8 washing per week.

    • What are the differences between the series 4, 6, 8? I've been using a simpson 5kg for the last 5 years and it's starting to leak at the back.. still manageable but if i could hold out for a bosch in the 500-700$ price range

  • My Bosch front loader (different model) has started leaving water behind in the detergent compartment every time after cycle finishes. I've taken it out and cleaned, the flap moves freely, can't see any blockage. Can't work it out.

    • +1

Is it a lot of water? It's not unusual if it isn't a lot. Is your machine level?

      • Thanks for your reply. Yeah it's a lot of water, nearly full sometimes. I just checked, it's level side to side but not back to front, the bubble of the spirit level hits the line at the back so it's sloping to the rear a bit. Do you know how to level it?

        • +2

ah, mine always has water but it's just a few mls. That is strange. My thinking was it might have been sloping to the front a bit causing the water to pool but it's actually sloping rearwards.

Anyway, for what it's worth, I can certainly share how to level it. The feet on the underside are threaded bolts. You can just adjust them accordingly, then fix them with the small nut already on the bolt. I've never needed to use tools for them, I've always just done them up finger tight and they're fine.

  • +1

Has anyone had their order cancelled? I received an email this morning saying it can't be fulfilled.

    • Yes same issue and I paid with gift cards. :(
