Bosch WAY32891AU Washing Machine $1269 (Was $1859) Delivered (Plus $100 Cashback) @ David Jones

1330

Our old Samsung front loader is on its last legs so have been looking for a replacement and came across this deal.

This product is listed on the Bosch website at $2599.00

Appliances Online have it for $1882.00 delivered

There is currently a $100 cashback promotion on this unit from Bosch and Cash Rewards is 8%. Final cost should be $1073.08 delivered.

It is a top of the range, made in Germany machine and has good reviews. I was leaning towards an Asko at about $2000 but this will do. Mine is being delivered on Monday.

This is my first posted deal so any feedback is welcome.

Thanks OP, excellent deal on a great machine. Don't forget 10% off gift cards.

    • where to buy the gift card?

      • Membership groups like Entertainment card, AGL Rewards, etc etc

        • How fast do the Entertainment Book cards take to arrive in email? It says up to 2 days.

          • +2

@malexane: RACQ is pretty instantaneous, you are looking for e-gift cards.

          • @malexane: I have received david jones egift cards from entertainment book by email within a few hours.

  • +1

Good job, OP. I chose the lower end model, but if I had a healthier bank balance I'd get this one :)

  • Further reduced? Price comes to be $1199 to me. Not $1269.

    • +3

      Includes $70 delivery fee.

Seems like a good deal, too bad my 15 year old cheap NEC is still going strong

    • +7

The one I found 12 years ago on the side of the road is still going strong.

      • +12

Luxury. The rocks on the side of the riverbank are still going strong.

        • -1

          Ganges?

        • +3

You had a riverbank? How ostentatious are you? We had to make do with our swamp marsh. Wading through the mud to get to the cleaner water.

        • but do they have 1500 RPM like mine does?

  • My 5 years Samsung machine was started with knocking noise.
But wii th pulling consumer rights card with Samsung they get my machine repaired by replacing the drum and motor that may cost a new machine.
Or else I will be needing a new machine… hope this will last me few more years

    • +1

Can you elaborate so i can use it as a reference in the future if the need arise?

      • +3
        • You tell Samsung what you learnt from the video and they agree to fix a 5 year old machine?

I seriously need to know how you "pull the consumer rights card" on a dispute over a 5 year old product.

        • +3

I think what eecchhoo is referring to is the above link provided by Wosdam, combined with the ACCC's consumer guarantees.

Every Ozbargainer should be familiar with this page as you have the right to a repair, refund or replacement if you purchase a product (2011 onwards) and the product is not of acceptable quality (doesn't last as long as it should or do what you expect it to reasonably do).

In this instance, you could argue that a washing machine should last longer than 5 years, and Samsung have used parts that are insufficient for the standard function of the washing machine.

The great thing about this is it means you normally don't need to bother with purchasing extended warranties. Even if the manufacturer only lists a 1-2 year warranty, if you could reasonably expect that item to last longer than 2 years than you still have your automatic consumer guarantees beyond that date.

      • +1

Yeah as explained by adamiam below use accc consumer rights and warranty
A washing machine should last longer than 5 year
You or them can refer to ACCC if not satisfied with the outcome

    • Consumer rights aside, I had a good experience with Samsung last year when my 7 year old machine stopped running. Got in touch with support online looking for some advice and they ended up sending out a tech who replaced the control board all at no cost to me

  • Is there a max number of gift card can be used online?

    • I used 5

    • +1

It used to be five, but I think it might be ten now with the new website

  • +11

Bought! Couldn't pass on this deal. Glad I woke up in middle of the night and checked OzBargain :)

  • I am in search of a new washing machine and this looks like a good one. A pretty great deal too.

  • +7

    Thanks
Didnt expect to wake up and drop 1k on a new washing machine ;)

Suncorp DJ's vouchers are instant, so used 1k worth of those
    6% off
    so
    $1269
    -$60 (suncorp, 1k limit)
-$100 (cash rewards, if it works)
    - $100 (cash back)

    $1009

that would be classified as a decent bargain :)

Still waiting on any email order confirmation though :/

    • Hi, are the DJ e-gift cards still available through Suncorps? They seem to be sold out at Entertainment book and RACQ.

      • yep, and instant delivery
(and also $500 ones, but 1k daily limit)

        • Thank you for confirming.

    • Please note that cashrewards will be less than $100, it does not include delivery and GST on the product.

  • +1

Very nice deal. We recently bought a Bosch (lower model at a higher price!) And it's been great. Very quiet compared to old Asko.

We were also looking at Asko (having had one for 11 years) but research seemed to imply that their quality isn't as good as it used to be after they were bought out and production moved to Slovenia (used to be Sweden).
Unsure if that's 100% true but there was enough grumbling out there to buy the cheaper German made Bosch instead.

    • +1

I have an Asko, I reckon you picked well with the Boschie

    • The Asko has the steel and no rubber so no mould issues which is a nice but the depth of the units is too much

  • Bugger, won't deliver to northern NSW.

  • I hope all of you have seen this in Samsung front loaders https://youtu.be/QGGhmKknKXo

    • +1

current bosch front loader is about 15 years old
still works (have had to DIY replace motor brushes and inlet valve)

just getting a bit clunky when running, so time for a replacement :)

    • Lol at "stronger metal attacks weaker metal". But yes, galvanic corrosion would certainly occur if one is steel and the other zinc

  • Funny you should mention your Samsung front loader broke. I saw a video on Reddit about samsung using zinc in the drum so that they corrode and stop working after a few years.

  • Can I buy it now and collect after two months?

    • +1

Probably something you’ll need to ask the Online team; I think Bosch gets delivered direct from Bosch rather than the DJs warehouse.

What exactly does a top of the range washing machine do that an entry level one doesn't? Where will I notice the difference?

    • +3

      Hip pocket
I guess washing machines don't excite me. My 200 euromade is doing the job after 7 years.

    • +1

There are websites that will allow you to compare different models, give it a go.

From what I can quickly see compared to my lower model, it has I-DOS, a drum light, can go up to 1600rpms and had a no leak guarantee or something? But I'm sure there's more.

  • +3

You know you're getting old when you get excited to buy a new washing machine…. Thanks op I'm now a proud owner of a new washing machine.

    • +2

      Our rock and roll lifestyle!

  • This is a great deal!

  • Can we apply for the cashback as soon as we purchase?

    My order is still pending.

I also got this error: The quantity selected is more than is currently available.

Yet it still let me add to cart and purchase. Very strange but typical David Jones clumsiness.

    • Can we apply for the cashback as soon as we purchase?

likely needs some thing like serial number which you wont have till its delivered

  • +3

Very tempting, even though I don't need a new washing machine…

  • I use my 7 year old $250 Euromade with Aldi laundry detergent. Clothes come out nice and clean and quite dry. Takes me no effort to load run and unload. So just can't get excited over something that's tucked away in the laundry.
If it could fold my clothes that would be a different story.

  • Hi… Think I've seen this or a similar Bosch advertised on the Harvey Norman "Black Friday" sale. Price was $999.

    • Link?

      • Sorry, false alarm. They seem like they don't have this model. Link for similar models for comparison of if you have HN gift cards Harvey Norman

  • +1

Does anyone know how fast AGL egift cards arrive?

    • Ordered this morning around 7 and still haven’t received.

  • +2

I have this machine and it is great. Everything comes out nice and soft even on a 1600 spin. It has features for different stains. It's really quiet and I'm happy with it!

  • +4

Isn’t it bit risky ordering 1k of gift cards then djs cancelling once IT decides it was an error

    • Hopefully not, because other Bosch products on sales are discounted by similar percentage.

    • You don't have to buy with gift cards if you don't want to

    • +1

Could be a DJ marketing tactic get people to buy gift cards and now they have to pay full price to use them

    • yeah, i was somewhat hesitant when I bought the ones via suncorp.. thankfully they were instant and thankfully i've gotten an order confirmation now

      crisis averted ;)

      • +1

An order confirmation isn't a guarantee you'll get the item …

  • +1

Wish they had a heat pump dryer to match it at this price

      ended up winning one :)

  • Just received my order confirmation. Thanks OP!

  • am getting no delivery options to my area (Brisbane)…

    must be no more available?

  • No WA delivery :(

    • I'm in WA

Getting delivery has turned out to be a bit of a pain. Online, it wouldn't accept my address in Kalamunda (hardly remote) for delivery but would to my office address in the city. When they rang me up arrange a delivery time, I asked them to divert it to my home, and after a bit of to and fro, this is now happening

      Bizarre

      • Lucky!

      • when did you order, to already have delivery arranged?

        • I placed the order on Wednesday evening and the courier company rang me yesterday to arrange delivery.

I could have had it delivered today but nobody will be home.

          • @R4:

I placed the order on Wednesday evening

and you didnt share it till last night…come on ;)

            • @SBOB: Hangs head in shame :(

  • How do you know it's made in Germany? (i'm not disputing, just asking)
Not all Bosch products are, unless it's stated clearly on the label.

Please note that most German/Swedish/Italian-made White Goods are hardly EVERY discounted at this rate.
Look at Asko, AEG, SMEG - you won't find these discounted by no more than $200, and even if they do, it's because they're a design people didn't like.

Most of the other Products that have Eastern Europe/Korean/Chinese arms like Bosch, Samsung, are the ones that offer these $500+ discounts.

For me, the best whitegoods after the ones I mentioned above are Australian-made which most are defunct now.

    • +1

Say at the top of the machine (in the middle) "Made in Germany". The Bosch website also shows which models are made in Germany.

      • -1

But how do you really know? That's just words on a website…

        • +1

Well it's illegal to lie about country of origin.

          • -1

            @phoenixx: Well then, case closed.

            • @John Kimble: Pretty much. This is Bosch we're talking about. Not some back alley racket selling fraudulent LV bags…..

              • +1

@phoenixx: I was mainly being facetious, the post from frostman was lengthy, but answered his own question in the first sentence…

But then again, as an example VW is a giant international corporation and they did the dodgy…

              • @phoenixx: And this is VW we're talking about and their emissions scandal. Just because something is illegal doesn't mean you can always believe what is written there. Companies are coming with new ways of deceiving customers just in order to get more sales than competitors.

It's not impossible for a company to have their product made in China, slap a sticker made in Germany/Sweden… and sell it as such product. If it is found out, they just pay the fine and call it a day.

                • @bargainparker: I remember going to a Mercedes dealer and asking where the C-class is made (just to have a look when it first came out), he said Africa but tried so hard to convince me that it was "still German" haha.

                • @bargainparker: Of course it's not impossible. Nobody said it was… It is however highly unlikely.

    • It's a fair question but this machine is made in Germany

I think the last Australian appliance factory closed last year

    • You'll find there are 2 sales models in play here, the competitive sales model for the 'cheaper' brand names, Electrolux, Bosch etc where the retailer can set the sales price and be competitive. The other one for Miele, Asko etc where the retailer is an agent and are not allowed to set pricing, hence why you only ever see sales pricing and not competitive discounts (because Miele, Asko etc set the price and the retailer has no say and is not allowed to discount)

Bosch website says it's made in Germany, one of the selling points.

  • Thanks! Just ordered one in-store at Doncaster, VIC. None in stock but ordered in for same online price and will be delivery late next week. I combined with 10% off David Jones vouchers I can get through work.

    • Can I ask where you work to get 10% off DJ vouchers? Will you be able/willing to help me buy some? Sorry cannot PM you so need to post here.

      • We get discounts at many stores via this program https://www.rewardgateway.com/au/employee-benefits-program

        • I cannot PM you. Can you please send me a message if you are able to help me buy some DJ gift cards? I am with entertainment book but can't buy since it is showing as sold out. Thanks.

          • @Austin 316: Bit late now..

            • @SBOB: Not for the washing machine. I'm after a fridge that I have got price matched so need the gift cards for that.

  • I'm glad OzBargainers are still managing to order this

    It's a cracking deal
