Music Bargains on Amazon AU - Vinyl, CDs etc

A thread to post all Amazon one-off deals on music, including CDs, vinyl, cassettes, etc. It can be a bit hard to tell when something is going to jump up in price after you buy it, but this would be a good place to post all of those deals.

I understand that posting these in the main deals section can be frustrating for so many, and following suggestions we can make a dedicated thread here.

Enjoy and happy collecting!

    • Good selection. Anyone had any luck getting a 20% off code?

      • Had a look around, but I don't think they do it. It used to be a pop up when you first went on the website.

        • yeah couldn't find a code. still bought some stuff, so thanks for the heads up!

the shipping costs have become unbelievable with all universal music products. even record stores are getting slugged with ridiculous shipping costs. makes the deal far less appealing. $20 to ship three records is a bit rich.

    • Very tempted but I've heard a lot of people have issues with the quality of this pressing. Anyone have one?

During my usual trawl of the camels I came across a PJ Harvey Demo LP discounted on Amazon AU via Amazon US, then found another. Doesn't seem to need a minimum amount for free postage for me being a Prime member. Please let me know if these are not good prices as I don't buy vinyl, but a quick google suggests they are.

    Uh Huh Her (Demos) $29.13

    White Chalk (Demos) [LP] $25.36

    • +1

I've noticed that was well, doesnt seem to be a min spend for international prime orders anymore

      • I do remember some promo about it but didn't expect it to last this long. I guess just enjoy it while it lasts.

        • just checked and it seems to only be US and not UK which is annoying

  • JB Hi-Fi are having a 1-day sale with 20% off cds. Ends today (1 June).

    • +3

apparently select jb stores have an epic clearance sale on cds at the moment too. amazing titles and box sets for a couple of bucks.worth a look if you haven't chucked all yours in the bin.

      • Thanks for the tip! Will definitely check out my local store as I still think CDs are a great physical medium for music.

Amazon Vinyl pricing seems to have gone through the roof….It's at JB Hi-Fi prices and worse

Discrepency Records (who are sometimes rediculously expensive) are having an EOFY sale.

    https://www.discrepancy-records.com.au/clearance/

Very big range, worth digging through for niche pickups. Free shipping is great too.

    I grabbed

Nehruviandoom - ST Picture Disc $29.99
Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - Before Today $19.99
Dangelo - Live At The Jazz Cafe London $44.99
    Cookin Soul - Whateva Vol. 4 $73.99

    • What a terribly bad website to navigate.

In other news the sound of vinyl (or whatever that universal music website is) has an eofy sale. Some decent prices there too.

      • I just can't stand the wait times with Sound of Vinyl. I've waited up to 5-6 weeks for some to be delivered as they were waiting on their supplier.

    • +2

Thanks so much for posting this! Some awesome hip hop titles on sale, including some pretty rare stuff. Managed to pick up a copy of 'Eastern Medicine, Western Illness' for a reasonable price.

      • What's postage like?

        • I believe postage is free, at least for the vinyl I looked at, which is awesome!

        • +1

Pretty sure it’s all free on Discrepancy which is the reason why their prices are always very high

      • +2

Picked up some great hip-hop titles I’ve been looking for as well - Managed to get Kurious Constipated Monkey and Tear Da club Up Thugs for decent prices. Also added on Styles P’s Float for $30 as well

    Solange - A Seat at the Table - $33.62

Edit: Sorry about the previous post, looks like it was the CamelCamelCamel affiliate code.

    • Ahh missed it

      • No you didn't - still available, look under "Other sellers" :)

        • yeah i mean it's out of stock - haven't had a huge amount of luck with that in the past. hopefully it comes through this time though. thanks!

          • @deapeasea: Ah dang, didn't see that! Yeah, back ordering with Amazon vinyl usually doesn't work out :(

  • +1

This is a bit frustrating, Kanye's - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is currently on sale for $58.07 via Amazon AU (look at the other sellers section if it doesn't show up).

However, every time it has dropped in price via Amazon AU it has been back ordered, which would be fine - but when it does come back in stock, they never fulfil the order, they just cancel it. It has happened about four or five times now with this particular album.

    • amazing album, horrible master.

still want it for the artwork though this is tempting

    • If it helps, it's a pain in the ass. 3 LPs, none have side a/b, let alone letting you know which is LP1, 2 or 3. The master is also pretty shitty. It's a very attractive package though - art cards, able to change the cover.

      • Yeah, I'm after it more for the package / art than the poor recording in this case.

Amazon have some vinyl prime day deals. Mostly dissapointing - they've even raised the price of some records I was watching and labled them "prime day deals".

Radiohead - Kid A Mnesia $67.58 seems like a good price point. However I have heard some people have issues with surface noise with this release (both red and black vinyl editions).

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Kid-Mnesia-Vinyl-LP-Record/dp/B09D…

If you're in Sydney support buying from local stores Resist Records has it for $64. If you're out of area - JB will price match on the hotline.

    • Sad I missed out on The Cure's Disintegration for $42. Held out for the 14% CR cashback to make it sub-$40 but it was gone by then.

Nothing else interesting. Just picked up some mid-priced records on my wishlist with the 14% cashback

  • Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett's 'Hard Lessons' vinyl is on Amazon for $18.79.
Note that it sounds nothing like the Fooeys - it's country rock. It's not bad but I passed as I probably wouldn't play it much

Hey, Sound of Music OST (180G) $42.50 popped up on the camels. Back order only. Had a bit of trouble trying to find price comparisons. Price seems OK if you factor in the Prme delivery. Possibly price matching fishpond.

Redeye Records in Sydney have some discounted vinyl (>200 titles) that might be worth a look through. Some titles have shelf wear (stated in the description). A few hip hop titles that might be of interest:

    50 CENT - ANIMAL AMBITION ($19.98)
    E-40 - FEDERAL ($29.98)
    N.O.R.E. - 5E ($19.98)
    NAS - NAS (2LP) ($29.98)

    • Really wish redeye would join us in 2022 with a website that wasn't terrible to use.

      • Yeah, it is shocking.

    • That website hasnt been updated for 2 decades

      HALF-A-MILL - MILION - VINYL LP

Record is great if youre a 90's Hip-Hop fan

      • Thanks, hadn't heard of it but will give it a listen.

  • Pearl Jam, Rearview-Mirror Vol. 1 (Up Side) [Black Vinyl] $46.52 @ Amazon UK via AU
Showing as free International delivery for me. Maybe good price? Beating the best price on the camels.

    • Not bad. Might have to purchase.

JB selling it for $30 extra so good price.

      • What's the best place to compare prices for vinyl? I've never bought vinyl before (probably won't either) so I'm pretty much doing a quick camels search and a quick google.

        • Not sure where to compare prices. I just use google search when looking.
I don't have much vinyl myself

          • @Whatisthatvelvet: Nothing against vinyl. It looks like something that would be great to get into but I don't know if I can justify the cost of everything that comes with the hobby.

A few decent deals for black friday.

Picked up Lorde - Melodrama, Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights and Portishead - Dummy. All for about $30 each.

Couldn't find any really exceptional deals but quite a few albums on my wishlist are the cheapest they've been in a while.

Great deal for the OGT's out there, I reckon its the lowest price ever for that pretty package

  • The problem is Amazon AU has no respect for vinyl. I purchased two sale records from them yesterday, which arrived overnight. What could go wrong? They used the most enormous box they could find, with zero padding material, so of course both sleeves have arrived heavily creased! It's just not worth the few dollars saved.

    • +1

I've had this before. At least returns are easy. We will see how the ones I purchased on this sale go. If they stuff it up I might not bother again either.

      • Yeah, this was the last time, I'm not bothering again.

        • Well, they arrived. https://i.imgur.com/FJ0jEVE.jpg

Got lucky this time. Seem to be fine. Slight scuff on the corner of the Portishead record (some of the shrink wrap has torn too) but overall they are in good condition despite not using the proper mailer. Literally zero padding too haha

          • +1

@woka: Phew, looks like you got lucky

          • +1

@woka: Yup that's how they send/dump it. Sometimes they add scrumpled up paper which is basically like parsley on food. If you ordered other non-vinyl items they would've thrown them in the same box.

            • @Gav: Once I ordered a 24x box of pepsi max cans on the same day and they added my record to the box. Didn't end well. If I order again I will try the one at a time method - in the past they have used proper mailers for them but as I can see from this thread it is not a guarantee!

    • They've unfortunately done this since day 1 in Australia. I've complained as high as you can go ([email protected]) but they don't care. Order 1, you'll get it in a vinyl mailer. Order 2 or more, they're thrown loosely into a larger box. When we could order from Amazon FR/IT etc. they used to indivually put every vinyl in a mailer, then into a box. But nope, not in Australia.

      • Yep, I've complained too, it's pointless. To be fair, I've had more luck with Amazon US individually putting each vinyl in a mailer, then a box. But it's a gamble too.

    • best bet is to try order separately, after each item has shipped

      • I've tried this in the past, but have had single orders just thrown in a box too.

    • +1

I had an album sent in an unpadded plastic bag once. The cover was pretty much destroyed. R.I.P my bargain priced Ace Frehley solo album.

      • I've had this too, especially from Amazon UK. The worst I've received from Amazon AU arrived just with the mailing sticker on the LP shrink wrap!

        • lol what condition was it in when it arrived?

          • +2

@woka: The sleeve was bent and creased all over, and the vinyl heavily warped. I let customer support know and they just created a new order. Half an hour later I received a warning email saying I'd had too many "lost deliveries"! Looks like things haven't improved since.

          • +1

@woka: No joke, the last of the records I ordered showed up today, mailing sticker just stuck on the destroyed sleeve again – no packaging at all! Absolutely fuming!

            • @hidalgo: Amazon UK or AU? Maybe they've run out of vinyl mailers. Demand a replacement/refund. REFUSE TO RETURN (they can collect if they want… which they won't). Only way they'll learn.

              • @Gav: Amazon AU! They must have run out of all their extra large boxes too!

                • @hidalgo: It's weird, you'd think they get a high percentage of returns/refunds as a result of this poor packaging yet they don't seem to do anything about it.

                  • +1

@woka: It makes no sense. What they do is blame the customer!

                    • @hidalgo: Check out how my rather expensive shibata stylus arrived…
                      https://photos.app.goo.gl/FNnPaUZmNDM7aZPb8
That’s a box of 6 litres of milk jammed up against it…

Luckily seems ok but wowsers, not well packed

                      • +3

@mackaxx: Your full name is in that link btw… not bad all considered. It's in its own box! :)
