    wow…that is expensive AF…

    • +3

That is Bosch (likely made in Germany) and heat pump tech making it $$$.

Heat pumps use less than half the electricity, but also take slightly (5-10) mins longer than standard dryers. Perfect for use in apartments because it won't require the same kind of ventilating.

      • Thanks for the info, I had no idea this existed. Worth it if you have even a small family and a place that doesn't get much sunshine through the winter.

      • +3

yes agree, but that is still a lot of coin…

        1194 vs 1797

        • No. Of Programs - 14 vs 13

        • Dryness Levels - Fine Adjustment of Dryness Level VS.

        • GG Commercial shows me same price as GG website how you get 1194

          • @mardetanha8033: check the model. I am referring to model WTW87565AU which is listed for 1194
The model that op posted is WTW87566A, which is just $21 less at 1776 @GCC

            • @maverick1: 565 has been discontinued and replaced with 564 and 566. Not much difference between the three so if you still can get 565 at much cheaper price then get it.
              565 - 7 star rating
              564 - 8 star rating
              566 - 9 star rating

I bought the 564 when it first came out for about $1300-ish and am very happy with it.

              • @tukanglistrik: @tukanglistrik

how's the drying levels? i recall seeing feedback that some of the bosch heat pump dryers didn't dry and they had to keep it going for hours (i.e. re-do the cycle)?

how long does a full dry cycle take?

                thanks heaps :).

@the4thzodiac: As Astronout Joe mentioned [below] (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/528657#comment-8527285) they're not bone dry but I'm happy with the "cupboard dry" setting.

The good thing is I feel confident to dry literally almost all kinds of fabric in the drier, including those marked with no tumble dry. Generally I only exclude very delicate fabrics eg swimsuits. But even if I dried them I think they would be fine.

                  • @tukanglistrik: thank you!

so with that "cupboard dry" setting, do you still have to air dry after you unload?

also, thanks for the model number breakdown and explanation :D - I think Bosch has different model numbers for different retailers, even though the product might be the same!

                    • +1

@the4thzodiac: Yes they can be folded and go straight to the cupboard. However for big items eg bed sheets or blankets sometimes they're not completely dried because the drum in Bosch driers only turns in one direction. You can simply pull it out, untangle, put back in and restart, should take about another 10 mins or so.

      • I went right through the choice reviews, and got the LG 8KG for $1536 Del.
        Unbelievable unit.

I picked up the WTW87564AU model for $1320ish delivered a few months back

    • A few seconds searching found it for $1533 at Appliances Online (WTW87565)

      • $1194 at GG Commercial
        Op has posted model WTW87566AU

      Ah, the classic WTW87564AU.

    • been doing for 5 years so far.

      • +2

        Still not dry?

  • +1

I picked up one of these last year. Due to the price, I went for an Electrolux but I did want this one. Then Good Guys told me they didn't have the one that I ordered so they let me upgrade to this one for free. Worked out pretty good because I ordered during Ebay sale of 20% off so essentially got one of these for about $1200

    • I keep reading that they don't have a really dry outcome unless you leave them on for hours. Is that true? Lot of money if clothes are only half dry. My dryer is getting very old and will probably die sooner than later so I need to decide whether to stick to cheap to buy expensive to run or one other the other newer types.

      • I think this is true, it seems like its on for hours when the missus uses it.

      • Yeah, pretty much. It does take quite long to get properly dry.

Not like the Speedqueens at the laundromat which takes 30-40 minutes, these can take 3-4 hours for a full load

        • Not really. In my experience for eg cotton, it estimates finishing time of around 2-3 hours depending on settings, but it's got an intelligent sensor to know if your clothes have met the dryness target and most likely will finish earlier. Usually I complete drying in about 1 hour, and sometimes less.

      • That's been our experience with this model. you basically dry things to 97% and then hang them. Fine for shirts etc but not ideal for folded clothes in drawers.

Alternatively you try to beat the intelligent sensor to get them bone dry.

It basically makes you rethink drying… planning necessary compared with old school tumble dryer

        • The good thing is that it doesn't cook your clothes like old school dryers. I remember taking stuff out of those dryers and sometimes they'd almost burn your fingers. That surely can't be good for your clothes.

Heat pump dryers take longer simply because they don't heat your clothes as much. With the Bosch, the default drying type is "Cupboard dry" but there is a higher setting of "Cupboard dry extra" that you can select. If your stuff isn't bone dry after that, a quick spin of the timed "I won't try and sense how dry the clothes are but will just run for the alloted time regardless" program will do the trick.

Another bonus is when you reapply a DWR coating (eg Nikwax) to something. It is recommended to give the clothes a gentle heating in a dryer to fully fix the coating, and a heat pump dryer can do that very gently.

  • I got the siemens version a few years back. I think it's the same as bosch but with a 5 year warrant. wife runs it 24/7. water is collected in a tray. She loves it. Happy wife happy life so far.

    • happy energy company too lol

      • Very true, they say they are energy efficient, but I reckon its bulltish…

        • Well, energy efficient, not energy generating.

        • Choice magazine are lying on every heat pump review??

  • The WTW87564AU RRP is $2699 available as above for $1194
The WTW87566AU RRP is $2899 on this deal is $1797 should be $1282 to be in proportion

So sorry it's not a good deal.

    • But how can u access good guys commercial?

    • +1

naah WTW87566AU is listed for 1776 on GGC..
      and WTW87564AU is 1590
      & WTW87565AU is 1194

      • Are you able to check to see on good guys commercial website WTW87565AU is still $1194? If so, ill pay the cash to sign up I guess?
        Cheers!

  • One of the best things I've ever bought

  • This is an item for people SERIOUS about their drying.

    For normal people, there's Aldis.

  • -2

Yes these are great machines. I bought one if the 564 models a few weeks ago from the 20% off good guys ebay deals price matched in store. I'm just saying unless things have permanently changed this deal is hundreds over. Aussie dollar has tanked in the meantime to be fair and dryers are the way to kill covid. Washing not enough.

  • Good unit, have had no issues with drying unless you have it on the lowest setting or only put a few items in. You can override that by putting the dry level up higher or putting it on a timed heat program. Picked one up in August last year from TGG for $1617 before Cashrewards. Needed one at the time and was actually cheaper than the WTW87565AU at the time.

  • Damn, missed out on this deal. Any way I can get this price? I looked at the link to get a good guys commercial login, but that seems to have been hit on the head/ozbargained…
