      Not true. Due to the breed / size of my dog veterinary related expenses are extremely high. A major medical issue requiring surgery could empty my bank account. $50 a month for peace of mind is definitely worth it.

    From my research when I was looking for a provider Pet Insurance Australia has the most positive customer feedback with very good pricing and coverage. One to avoid would be the RSPCA insurance from what I've read. Very expensive for the coverage provided ( PIA is less than half the cost, more coverage and a higher payout ) and they are notorious for finding trivial reasons to deny claims.

  Just like private health insurance for younger adults… you are funding others.

  I actually used this service a few days ago when I got the text message. Not something I'd pay for, but a nice gesture nonetheless. Ended up having to visit my usual vet to have my dogs issue diagnosed / treated.
