Tiger King: has anyone seen it?

I've just finished binge watching the 7 episodes and I'm still trying to process what I've seen.

Have you seen it? Thoughts?

    Carole killed her husband

    • +1

      She sure did.

    • …what meat grinder?
      …sardine oil
      …fed who to the tigers?

Shows how incompetent/corrupt the police are. There was the power of attorney letter that said in the event of disappearance and that bitch Baskins submitted the death notice 5 years and 1 day after he "disappeared".

      • +1

…dont forget her brother IS A COP! :P

    • She also met her first husband while working as a prostitute.

      • Obvs. I didn't fall for her "holding him at gunpoint" bs.

My answer to everything that goes wrong now is “Carole (fropanity) Baskin”

    • +1

Is Carole the new Karen? 🤔

    • …that bitch down in florida!

Considering the hype surrounding the show, it was pretty underwhelming I thought.

It is pretty ridiculous how out of control private tiger ownership is though.

its a show about a gay, flamboyant, gun toting, wannabe rock star, cowboy, presidential nominee, druggie, arsonist, who owns 300 tigers on a zoo run by convicts, lives in the bible belt of America, has 2 husbands that arnt gay and tries to get someone assassinated.

its not supposed to be a Emmy award winning show. its some weird reality/doco just showing you how insanely different some peoples lives are compared to yours. and some where in there it make u want to save the tigers???

      • +3

…you forgot magician ……and former law enforcement officer(?????!) :D

        • +1

What about the former drug runner, who was only doing that to fund his animal addiction, was the one featured person in the show least likely to been on drugs.

@Caped Baldy: …our real life tony montana aka scarface. how can you not LOVE this doco :)

what would it take to whelm you???

The Sigfried und Roy ending was better.

  • His first husband is hot

    • He got his teeth fixed

    • Is that Mr bang-bang or Mr tattoo?

      • Actually first husband is dead. He died from complications of HIV and was not part of the doco.

John is the 2nd husband and he wants Channing Tatum to play him.

I have a friend who, after watching Tiger King was thinking of buying some tigers and marrying two of his friends. Has anybody had any experience with this? <Insert Poll Here>

This is the ring design, what do you think?
This is their house plans, is there enough room for the tigers?

  • It's kind of nice that being gay is mainstream enough now that even someone like the Tiger King can be openly gay without anyone really having a problem with that.

How do you explain openly gay music like Culture Club, Dead or Alive, Petshop Boys and Queen dominating the mainstream music charts during the 80s? Gayness was embraced by the mainstream and accepted back then. For factual correctness, the gay cause then was devastated not by being unaccepted by the mainstream, but from 10% of the gay male population dying from AIDS given to them from other members of the gay community, in an astonishingly high number of cases, knowingly.

"In the USA, by 1995, one gay man in nine had been diagnosed with AIDS, one in fifteen had died, and 10% of the 1600000 men aged 25-44 who identified as gay had died."

In the history of mankind, that was one of the percentage-wise most self annihilating moments by one demographic upon itself, ever.

Quite honestly, I think gayness was everywhere and over-represented in 80s culture. There is a reasonable parallel to the current coronavirus deathtoll, only the male gay community is only about 1.5% of the population, meaning the AIDS death toll was staggeringly higher per capita.

As an 80s music tragic, gay songs were everywhere during the 80s and the singers were superstars. Even straight singers were camping it up to get attention.

      • -2

Are you saying that if we become too accepting of gays, like you say we were in the 80s, that mother nature steps in and kills a bunch of gay people or something?

        • +1

No, that's all yours. Gayness was mainstream decades ago. What do you feel hindered that between then and now? Why are you surprised at gayness becoming mainstream now when it was everywhere back in the 80s? What have you got against Liberace that you think he didn't crack mainstream?

Specific to Tigers, Siegfried and Roy had been the biggest act in Vegas for decades prior to Roy's mauling. Pretty easy to present a case that gay tiger owners are more mainstream than straight ones.

          • @[Deactivated]: I don't think being gay was mainstream in the 80s. More like mainstream society first acknowledged openly that gay people even exist.

            • +2

@AustriaBargain: Go back and watch Mr Humphries on "are you being served?", which aired on UK tv from 1972. That over the top camp style of entertainer was everywhere in the 70s and 80s.

Can't get over Finlays teeth and all the main people need to go to jail.

      • I actually prefer his old face with new teeth. Still can't get over it though.

        • To think he and Travis married Joe and were sleeping with him even though they aren't gay. If ever there was a reason to stay away from drugs, this has to be it.

  • +1

    show should be called
    "that b#ch Carol fu#$in baskin!
    or
    "the meme gold mine"

  • …yah. watched the whole thing twice now just to make sure i processed everything…. :D
right up my alley as far as quirky doco series goes

also …imma kill that bitch down in florida carole baskin!

if you need some more joe exotic & crazy american exotic pet owners….louis theroux featured joe years ago in his doco series
Louis Theroux: America's Most Dangerous Pets

  • It was strange that the doco rushed through the trial. Surely it could have been 8 episodes instead of 7?

When Erik Cowie testified against Joe, it's an understatement to say that painted Joe in a terrible light when the rest of the doco had been reasonably sympathetic to him:

He came up with a gun in his hand. I knew he had just shot Cuddles, I could hear it. (Joe) said "If I'd known it would be this easy to kill them, I'd have just walked up to their cages and kill them all". There was no way for me to stop it. It was gunna happen.

And while I think the testimony of Allen Glover was a bit dubious, I thought the documentary only just touched on Joe's interaction with the undercover FBI agent. He sounded serious to me:

Just like follow her into a mall parking lot and just cap her and drive off

And then the discussion about payment:

"What's somethin' like that run?" the defendant asked, according to the filing.

"Mmm, usually about 10," the agent responded.

    "Really?" the defendant asked.

    "Yep," the agent said.

The discussion then turned to a down payment, according to the filing.

"Hey man, if you're serious about it, you let me know," the agent is quoted as saying.

"We'll get game with the money," the defendant said.

"So, I'd need … What do you think you could get up front?" the agent said.

"Oh, we can get five easy," the defendant said.

"You can get five?" the agent said.

    "Yeah," the defendant said.

"That's perfect, man. That'd be perfect," the agent said.

"I'll just sell a bunch of tigers," the defendant responded. "Sell a bunch of tigers."

    • Surely it could have been 8 episodes instead of 7?

The 8th episode is currently being filmed and will be released later this week. At the moment, it has not been revealed whether the episode will be a reunion special or a continuation of the series.

"I'm not changing the way I dress, I refuse to wear a suit… I am gay… I am broke as shit, I have a judgement against me from some b**** down there in Florida."

And that's how Trump was elected :P
