Crucial MX500 SSD 500GB $126.65 Delivered @ Ninja Buy eBay

100
PAINTED15

Not as good as the 1TB deal, but it's not bad if you don't need a whole TB to get an older machine up to speed.

1TB @ $187 Delivered

I'm really shocked at the current SSD prices compared to what we've had around 3-6 months ago.

Holy cr@p. Haven't been in the ssd market for 12 months and look what happens. Reminds me of ram prices a couple of years ago.

    • same here.

    • Aussie $ is in the toilet. This accounts for a good proportion of the costs…

      • The cost of plumbing?

  • +13

Less then 4 months ago these were $90-100 easy at umart, pccg, etc and look at where we are now.

    • Yeah I know, I didn't have a choice.

Mums old laptop is needed for someone for school and I suggested an SSD, they didn't want to spend it really as money is tight.

Booted it up.. Hard drive is dead, it definitely could have been worse but it's bad timing that's for sure.

Still not bad. Looks like almost no price hike, its nearly a 1:1 increase with the fall of the dollar.

  • Samsung QVO 2TB $320. Bought from centre com.

    • The 1TB QVO is also cheaper than MX500, but less performance on paper?

  • Saw this for $97 with last eBay 20% off but didn't pull the trigger :( regretting now . Hopefully AUD picks back up more, it already recovered a bit

    • +2

AUD is in the toilet and will be for a very long time.

        • Does that 1% possibly include you, and your family, and close friends (cough)?

        • +2

its not 1% its like 8% if you go by numbers.. 1 mil infected 80k dead.. this virus is no joke

huuuuuuuuh? i don't know about you guys but this isn't a deal?

i was seeing 1tb $167 about 2-3 months ago. this isn't that great. i paid for my 1tb mx500 almost 2 year ago for $220?

    • +4

The important words in your sentence are 2 and 3 and months and ago.

      • Yes it was a different world 2-3 months ago.

        • Yeah, I've addressed that in the original post.

          I got a 970 Evo Plus for $135 around 9-10 months ago.

I know that this isn't an amazing deal, but its what's there now. The only price I've seen that's better is the same drive at uMart, but shipping makes it more pricey for most and the Kingston listed for $87 above but the drive itself isn't as good.

    860 EVO 500GB $124 delivered @ Centre Com

    https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/6yKcCJ/samsung-860-evo-5…

    • Damn, oh well the Evo is better but the Mx isn't far behind.

  • +2

As amazon right now 85$ for 480GB kingston https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B01N0TQPQB/

    • Not bad!

However the MX500 is a better SSD and has the extra 20GB

    • +1

Thanks mate, picked this up. ~50% extra just to get the MX500 over the Kingston

      • Unsure if you're being sarcastic or not lol.

Its a boot drive, the Kingston is a good deal by any means but since the laptop isn't for me I'd prefer this.

The Kingston is great for a games drive where performance/reliability isn't the most important or a budget.

        • +1

          $86 X 150% = $129 ~ $126 MX500

Paying an extra 50% is not worth the MX's features for me.

    • Was it price jacked in the last hour or so? Looks like it…

      • +2

Why is this practice becoming so common? A bit of increased traffic and a couple of sales and boom, price jack.

At least in the past the product would sell out then next batch would be slightly more but now it's a game of up and down.

        • pretty sure its automatic they see orders flood in and there is an algorithm that raises the price, funnily that's how high frequency trading works too, and ironically it works good against brodens lol

          • @abctoz: I guess it just the next technological step to maximise profit. OzBargain became so popular because especially in Aus pricing was often obscure with wholesalers having huge differentials for the same product.

I paid $74 for this delivered not that long ago :)

    • thanks for posting! Hopefully, prices come back down to that level!

  • I know UMART is selling the 500gb one right now for $115

    • Not bad if you've got a local uMart.

Being in Tasmania shipping is usually $15 so this is the best option.

MSY still have this for under $90 but out of stock

    https://www.msy.com.au/crucial-mx500-ct250mx500ssd1-250gb-sa…

PS my bad didnt see it was for the 500 GB model

  • +1

I paid $79.20 for this back in Decemeber. I'm in need of another one but will wait until the prices drop some more

  • Paid $89 from MSY few months back

  • Looking for a SSD 250GB to 500GB for a thin client PC. I read that the MX500 runs hot. Am wondering what other SSD would you guys recommend other than the Samsung Evo ones?
