    Now this is cool!

If you're an existing roadside assistance member, we'll prioritise your breakdown call. And if you're not a member, we'll still come to your rescue and get you back on the road free of charge.

  • What about the firies? Heroes in Jan. Forgotten about now.

Fire fighters included on the link page

  • Geez how unlucky would you be if you called the emergency services and they needed roadside assistance on the way

    • +1

It's happened. Emergency vehicles already get the priority service.

But they'd probably cancel the original response and send you another crew instead.

(Yes I know you weren't being serious, but these things do exist)

If you are a medical practioner, nurse, paramedic, police officer or fire fighter, who is working on the front line, RAC is here to support you.

  • I hope this also includes Public Servants because as Scott Morrison said yesterday:

""I've got people in the public service who are working like they've never worked before I suspect," he said.

"They do a great job and they're as much on the front line saving people's livelihoods frankly as nurses working in hospitals.""

"I've got people in the public service who are working like they've never worked before"

Does he mean they're actually doing something rather than just making minimal effort to appear like they're doing something?

Is reinforcing ignorant stereotypes still a thing in your world or are you just trying to find a way of letting off steam?.

        • -2

Ignorant? You're assuming I have no experience of public service.

          • +2

@banana365: I'm not assuming anything. Your understanding of the huge variety of jobs public servants perform in this country is clearly negligible. Suffice to say that your smart-arse, juvenile generalisation is complete garbage, as most thinking adults would know. If nothing else you could try and have some sympathy for them. After all many public servants are unfortunate to have to deal with ignorant fools every day of the week.

            • @[Deactivated]: So rather than my flippant generalisation of public servants as lazy, you're generalising them as hard working. Let's just split the difference and say there's a mix of both and we both have our own biases. Mine is caused by working with various government agencies that take months to perform basic tasks (that you'd expect to take a day or two). True, there are decent workers, but like life in general, it's the causes of frustration that grab the attention.

See, all done without resorting to name calling.

              • -1

@banana365: You had the chance to clarify/retract earlier and your trite split the difference comment shows you didn't learn much. Newsflash - they don't exist for your special benefit and while you may think yours is the only problem they have to resolve the reality is completely different.

I don't need to defend public servants because most of us realise what good and difficult jobs they do generally speaking. Police, public health workers, inspectors, regulators, social workers, scientists of all types - earth scientists, agronomists, meteorologists…,,finance experts and assistants, bus drivers, lab workers, policy implementers, environmental workers, water and soil experts, ABC and SBS workers etc etc. Pretty much every walk of life has public servants making significant contributions to this country, likely FAR greater than you or I will on our lifetime.

                • @[Deactivated]: Newsflash - I don't care anywhere near as much as you clearly do.

                  • @banana365: Care, and know, obviously.
