Harvey Normal in their last "buy 1 get 2" deal was selling AMD based laptops similar to this one, only 4GB ram, 500Gb hard disk, 1Gb video card etc. etc. price nearly $1,400 Lol

  • Can you do other deals such as pocket or external hard disks?

  • Hi, Rep, I am confused. Is there a cashback offer with this Asus laptop. According the last 2 sentences of your post "*Cashback redeemable from Acer/eMachine directly. Time limits apply. Please see their website for full term and condition." Do you mean Asus and not Acer/eMahcine in your last 2 sentences?

    • Fixed , sorry was a mistake .

  • +16

Please stop writing statements like "hurry up" in posts. Its irritating.

    • +1

This bargain is pretty much an ad.

    • +3

Yeah, I thought that was an unnecessary statement to make, trying to hype up their deals and encourage impulse buying. Still, the specs are fabulous for this price and it is a great deal. So hurry up and buy everyone!

  • Is it possible to offer a price that's on mind for other products?

  • +4

Similar deal with 5 more usb included?
    https://www.mln.com.au/bargainbuys/

    • +2

5 sandisk 4gb usb vs voda 3g modem. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm….such a hard decision to make!

    • That is indeed the same model and same price, but with 5x 4GB Usb sticks and free shipping. How much is the vodafone USB modem worth?

      • -1

Depends on the coverage I guess.

Not good from what I've heard…

    • I guess the bargain is the saving on delivery $29 over the same laptop at mln.com.au for $999. I guess if you're in Melbourne you can get for the same price and pickup.

    0.3 Megapixel Webcam? Sweet!

    • +6

Its not the size its the way you use it ;)

    • Probably 640 x 480 (307,200 pixels)

Which is as almost as good as a DVD player. So probably good enough for skyping, etc…

  • does this have usb 3?

    • USB 2.0 only

      • $1000 with USB 2.0 + nVidia Graphic Card. How is this a bargain?

I got my HP DV6-4023TX for $550 with 2nd Gen Core i7 + ATI Graphic Card from the HN 40% off deal. If you can get it with the buy 1 get 1 free promotion then it can be even cheaper.

I wonder why this deal got so many +vote?

        • I got it for 5% extra from office work.

        • brand association maybe?

ASUS in general has a positive reputation for laptops and computers.
While HP does have a positive rep, but not as good as the ASUS.

One of the good things about ASUS is aesthetics.

Also in this particular laptop, the warmer components are not near the plam rest area (very frequent in other laptops - dont know why) which is a little goodie.

Make it $850 and you've got an Oz Bargain. amirite? Give me a +

    • +4

      You really are a Porkhunt!

  • do you guys think this will be good enough for gaming?

  • is this "Laptops going cheap month" ?

    • Its all in the accounting mate, obsolete inventory in a competitive and struggling consumer market = BIG NO NO for companies. Thats why everyone is trying to sell all there stuff to reduce their inventory hold, or else goodbye to business.

  • Pretty good deal. 'Bout time that MLN had a decent competitor.

    • Can't tell if joking.

  • +3

only if this had full hd screen and atleast 1 USB3 port, i would buy it right now.

  • +1

    USB 2.0, shame.

    • +1

      True.
Rep sweetly hid it: 3x USB
Also, the resolution is bad for a $1000 Laptop: 15.6" 16:9 HD (1366x768) LED Backlight
No details of the Wireless card: Wirelesss N (802.11 b/g/n)

  • Hi, can anyone tell me if this is 5400 or 7200 rpm HDD?
And also what is the processor speed for this Core i7 2630QM.
Is the rep meant to state this?

    • -1

even if the rep was supposed to state the processor speed… how hard would it be for you (at this time at night) to look it up yourself?

    • 5400rpm and 2.0gHz. Rep doesn't need to state this since it's a standard model that you can get the full specs (and reviews) for elsewhere.

  • HN's N53SV deal a few weeks back was also a marginally better deal ($1 less, better speakers and 4x sodimm slots i think…) but meh, still a good deal.

Also Ivy bridge just got announced at 20% performance increase for next year….

  • +1

Also for those interested, $999 is the standard price at MSY if you want it from a bricks and mortar store (well probabably mostly plasterboard and plastic being MSY and all)

    • So all your getting is a FREE VODAFONE 3G USB Modem including 5GB Data.
This isn't a bargain by any stretch of the word.
I'm very surprised that 34 people have voted positive on this deal then.
Well done OLC with your convincing advertisement.

  • How long will it take to ship to Melbourne? My lappy broke so I need it quite urgently.
